Jose Velazquez

No it's my area, I don't have cell service when on location at work. Only when I go to my car on breaks...

Speaking of John Goodman, who I know you both have seen in at least two films up to this point — those being this one here plus 'The Big Lebowski' (1998) — y'all should check out a couple more movies which he is in, and alongside a pair of other awesome actors who I am also aware that you two tend to enjoy, at that. The first one that I shall now recommend / request / suggest is 'Flight' (2012). It starred Denzel Washington as an alcoholic commercial airline(r) pilot, as well as Don Cheadle, another actor who I also know you two have at least seen when y'all watched and reacted to 'Boogie Nights' (1997). Of course, 'Flight', as I earlier alluded to, also featured actor John Goodman as a wild, wired, weird, wacky, zany and crazy character who brought a bit of comic relief to this brilliant, intense film, which also wisely included a serious and overall moral message about substance abuse / full-blown addiction. I also should note that although I do know films featuring Denzel, like 'Flight' and 'John Q.' (2002), have been commented on before by both myself and several other fellow patrons, it sure can't hurt to bring them up yet again for the purposes of undergoing future consideration from you two. As for the second film featuring John Goodman which I wished to mention: 'Evan Almighty' (2007), the sequel to 'Bruce Almighty' (2003) — which, once again, I know you two have reacted to, too — is a much more fun and lighthearted one versus the dramatic likes of the aforementioned 'Flight' and 'Boogie Nights'. Whereas Jim Carrey did not sign on for the project, Steve Carell did in fact come back, but for a starring role rather than a bit part this time around. Of course Carell still portrayed the same character as before, "Evan Baxter". Morgan Freeman also returned to play the role of "God". As for Goodman, his character was a new addition, since he obviously did not appear in the first film of the series. Here is my brief synopsis of said sequel: "Evan" is no longer a news anchor in Buffalo, New York. Instead, him and his family have packed up and are in the midst of their move out of state to a fancy, brand new estate in Washington, D.C., where "Evan" is about to begin his latest professional endeavor, as he has recently become a Congressman, thus completing his wish to shift occupational gears.

Chow's prison escape was clearly inspired by what the character "Andy Dufresne" pulled off in the movie 'Shawshank Redemption', especially considering the fact that he carried out his plan precisely the same way. After all, Chow chiseled a huge hole into his cell wall to create a tunnel through the sewer system. Plus, Chow even kept his hole hidden and covered over by concealing it behind a poster.

The song that Chow chose to sing in karaoke form is called "Hurt", which was written by Trent Reznor. It was first released as part of the Nine Inch Nails album 'The Downward Spiral' in March of 1994, before being released as a single just a little bit over a year later in April of 1995. Eventually, Johnny Cash performed his own popular rendition of the tune. Cash's critically acclaimed cover version was recorded in 2002. It was then subsequently released in March of 2003. During the part in which Alan was cutting off his friendship with Chow, the original composition by NIN was playing in the background.

Regarding Chow's joke designed to poke fun at Jewish people: the stereotype is that Jews are obsessed with money. Thus, Chow was simply inferring that, due to Stu being a Jew, he would not be inclined to reject his offered gift of a gold bar, much like a squirrel would not want to turn down a nut.

Glad you guys are back and rocking it like you never left.

Jesse McAdams

Chow was singing Johnny Cash's version of Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover). Another movie you should check out is Walk The Line. The Johnny Cash story.

Trish Belshe

@Jessie McAdams…Another great movie is the spoof of “Walk the Line” called “Walk Hard - The Dewey Cox Story”. It stars John C. Reilly and it’s hilarious.

Cameron

I think they would seriously love that movie, it's their type of comedy

Janice B CPhT

Trent Reznor's (original artist) Unplugged performance of Hurt is so emotionally performed.

A "Double Feature" of 'Ray' (2004) [Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles] and 'Walk the Line' (2005) [Joaquin Phoenix & Reese Witherspoon as Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash, respectively] would be awesome! Also, Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly from 'The Office') is in the 'Walk Hard' (2007) spoof / parody.
