Dan Gershgol

Bill B.

Whoever requested this, THANK YOU!!! 🇺🇸💛🇺🇸 I’m having so much fun dancing along as I watch and listen!!!!!

Aloy

THANK YOU, you anonymous angel!

Thank you so much for fixing the issue. Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison wrote "the Federalist Papers". A lot of those ideas helped to frame the Constitution . The United States Constitution is the greatest document ever written. It is a "living Constitution " in that it can be added to and or amended to meet the needs of the citizens of the country.

This was such a delight!!

The musical was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who played Alexander Hamilton. He also wrote songs in Encanto and Moana!

Yesss I adore Hamilton, the music is amazing! I listen to the soundtrack regularly. I took my daughter to see it at The Fox in Atlanta when she was in college, it’s one of our favorites!!! We try to go to New York every year to see a musical or two ☺️ I enjoyed this reaction very much!!!

Robin

You guys may need to add a “Musicals” category in your “collections.” now 👍🏽

Robin

I loved it! Your reactions were priceless. 🥰

Today is my favorite day!!!!!!!!!

I almost failed History class in 5th grade because I just didn’t care what happened 200 years ago, but I learned so much from watching this! It’s a great way to convey history with a modern touch. It should be an example for modern teaching. I know some teachers try, but schools these days restrict anything out of the mandatory lesson plan. Boo! We love this musical and I don’t even like musicals. My daughter knows every word to every scene. I love that! Great reaction! Thanks 😊

Aaron

This was an amazing watch. Laughter and tears. Aaron Burrs story is just as tragic as Alexander Hamilton, sadly. FYI Lin Manuel Miranda wrote the entire thing himself. Dude is kind of a genius.

Amanda Winner

FYI there is a whole mixtape with some of the same songs performed by celebrities like Usher and Queen Latifah as well as some of the songs reimagined. Great reaction

meadow anderson

all of eliza's performances in this always leave me speechless, her actress was phenomenal

meadow anderson

also all of the songs were written by the same guy that played hamilton

Dan Gershgol

Some songs were highly inspired by hip hop rap songs from 90s to early 2000s. Ten Duel Commandments is a play on words from the Biggie song Ten Crack commandments.

I didn't see anyone else mention this yet. You guys said that you want to know what was decided in "the room where it happened". So Hamilton could get his plan through Congress, he agreed with Jefferson and Madison to have the United States Capitol moved from Albany New York to the Potomac River.. close to Virginia which is Washington DC today. That's why Madison said to Jefferson "wouldn't you like to work a little closer to home?" Jefferson's home is in Virginia. You can still tour it today. It's called Monticello.

This is one of my favorite reaction videos with Asia and BJ.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, who played Hamilton, wrote the music, lyrics, and also a book. It wasn't loosely based on history. It was based on a book by Alexander Hamilton biographer Ron Chernow. Washington had been president for 8 years by the time he stepped down. It was truly shocking to his cabinet, congress, and the people. They assumed he'd stay in power until his death. Washington relinquishing all that power is truly remarkable, and it set the precedent that presidents step down after 2 four-year terms (until Franklin Roosevelt refused to do the same). FDR's death eventually led to the ratification of the 22nd amendment to the Constitution, setting term limits and other stipulations involving the presidency. The song, Room Where it Happens, was about the compromise of 1790. Jefferson and Madison's side wanted to approve Hamilton's plan for the federal government to assume the debts of the states. They didn't want that. However, they wanted something else since they were Virginians. They wanted the capital moved from New York City to the shores of the Potomac river in Virgina (present day Washington DC). Hamilton agreed to back that (he didn't care) and they agreed to get on board with his economic proposals. As for the Hamilton-Burr Duel, it took place WHILE AARON BURR WAS THE SITTING VICE PRESIDENT! How CRAZY is that?! It certainly shows how times have changed. As said in the song, Burr is relegated to "bad guy" status in history, but he's a complicated and interesting figure. He fought for the rights of immigrants (Hamilton fought against people who didn't have English ancestry), and he thought that women were intellectually equal to men (Hamilton attacked him for this belief). Killing Hamilton did, in fact, ruin his political career.

Watching this with you was a privilege. Life long theatre fan who was thrilled to see your reaction to this superb production. The performers in this are at the top of their game and they do it eight times a week! Thank you for the subtitles! It's very lyric heavy and my ear is not as quick as it once was!

It’s a masterpiece for creativity, to call it musical theater is almost an insult. It’s so rewatchable. I put it on in the background so often bc it’s a soundtrack. It’s still on Broadway if u ever get to NYC u can see it life or check out the traveling show. I recommend it. Your eyes are pulled in every direction so don’t smoke or drink much beforehand bc it’s a dizzying experience

Musicals to consider Hairspray (2007) Mamma Mia (2008)
