This is a great treat! Tina was an Icon truly she was. Golden Globes are for movies and TV. Academy Awards are the highest honor for movies. Angela and Laurence were both nominated for Academy Awards. The film won a Golden Globe. I am so surprised you guys haven't seen this movie before but I'm glad I get to watch with!! 🎉

Yeah Ike was even worse than depicted in the movie. I also loved her acting in Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdome. She also sang a few James Bond themes like Goldeneye and I can't remember the other one offhand.

I love me some Tina, I was her for Halloween when I was 12. Well, her as Aunty Entity from Mad Max Beyond the Thunder Dome. I remember crying because my older sister said I didn't look like her and my dad said I looked homeless. I cried till I got to the party and my friends liked it. I remember thinking I looked awesome and just like her, now my grown old white lady ass laughs every time I look at that picture. RIP to the Queen

This is a great movie. She was such a strong woman! Hope Ike is burning in hell ! Yeah this movie is hard to watch, especially the first time. But you know she comes out on top in the end and that is what makes this movie so good. The music is fire too !!!!

Tina Turner was a consultant on the film, its based on her book and she even sang all Angela Bassett's performances so Tina approved everything. Ike didn't agree with the depiction of him and said scenes like the studio sexual assault didn't happen and it wasn't in her book. He claimed he was legally prevented from suing because he signed a release form with Disney/Touchstone Pictures for $45,000 ($100,000 today), which he said he misunderstood. He actually signed away his rights to sue the studio over his portrayal no matter how negative or inaccurate it was. He was highly upset and said the film assassinated his career.

Happy birthday, Miss Asia! 🎊 Great reactions as always. I got to see Tina in concert in New York City during her tour sponsored by Hanes pantyhose. Cindi Lauper opened for her, and the concert was absolutely amazing. Cindi was pregnant at the time. She kicked off her shoes and sang barefoot and danced down the aisles. What a show!

I saw this when I was a kid, the music was cool but as a kid i really didn't pay attention to it but it did help me learn who she was. If i heard a song I heard in the movie I knew "hey that's Tina Turner". It hits different now! When I hear one of her songs come on I get so excited. But at that time I think I was more into the story and finding out it was a TRUE story made me so curious to watch it even more. Even to this day I love true story movies. Anyway, great move to watch with ya'll thanks so much.
