Star Trek (2009)

Comments

Jay Rivera

To infinity and beyond 🚀 Into darkness next and then do the one I never saw but be willing to watch with you. Is it beyond? These movies rock. Love JJ

Matthew Barney

Can’t wait for that Reindeer Games 😊

Edgar Gonzalez

Well Well, I was wondering when we were going to get to Star Trek... Star Wars has been covered, so I guess its only natural that we cover the Star Trek movies. Course nothing really comes close to the original TV show.

JL Green

When it was initially released I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.

Von

MCU…Will it ever make it’s return? 🥹

RollingAcres47

OK here we go...shout out to all my fellow nerds.

Violet

AAAAAHHHHH!!! NO WAY!!!! I LOVE this movie!!!

Davey11

Asia and BJ would you ever start watch James Bond, the Sean Connery ones are great

Matt F

Let's goooo! We gotta get you guys tuned in to the Trek universe lol. If you ever reacted to Star Trek: The Next Generation, that would be incredible -- my favorite show of all time (along with Game of Thrones).

Adrian Rhodes

So did Asia notice that Kirk's dad is played by Chris Hemsworth (Thor?)

Neal Moody

Have Office withdrawals lol

Darth Brooks

The only one I've seen of the new movies. I enjoyed it and it's been a while since last I watched this so thanks VIP!

Zach P

For real, they are about to hit the 5-6 movie stretch in the MCU of amazing movies

MacGuffinStuff

Yeah I love the series. And I remember being a kid and it would be on late at night, the original series TOS, and that meant it was time you should be asleep, if MASH comes on and you're still up you are wrong 😆

I'm just Joe King

Just to explain a little this is an alternate timeline to the original star trek with william shatner. so the older spock came from the past kirk didnt go to the future and all this stuff changed because nero went back in time and changed things. So in these movies its def gonna be a little different from the originals. After you guys check out this trilogy (If you do) You should check out the original timeline movies they are really good too just older.

MacGuffinStuff

But yeah I think you guys would have a lot of fun watching the show, all the shows lol, and movies. You missed a big moment because when Spock, Leonard Nimoy, says to Kirk, "I have been, and always shall be, your friend." That's from one of the deepest moments in Star Trek lore, hits hard if you know.

Willie Oaxaca

Y’all gotta watch some of Star Trek episodes and the original movies too 🖖🏽

captkeebz

you should keep doing these. they're fun

Sapporo Dragon

A brand new twist on a classic favorite!👍🏻 RIP Anton Yelchin (Pavel Chekhov) ✝️

Neal Moody

You saw the birth of Captain Kirk. Enterprise Captain.

Willie Oaxaca

You were thinking of Worf a Klingon and Geordi Lafroge - Levar Burton he had the visor over his eyes

I'm just Joe King

Yeah it sounds like her mom watched Star Trek The Next Generation so they should watch Star Trek Generations.

Willie Oaxaca

I couldn’t tell if her mom watched TNG or TOS but I think TNG came on at night back then in DFW

Robin

Still waiting on some good Christmas movies this season 🥹

Darth Brooks

Anyone catch the R2-D2 easter egg at 52:08? He's on the monitor right above the guys head on the left, blink and you'll miss it.

Soph

Yes I thought they’d do love actually or even a comedy like why him. But each to their own I’m just happy we get office lmao

Darth Brooks

R2 is there helps to either pause or slow frame it as he rockets across the screen but at the time stamp he is highlighted the most give or take a frame

Jacqueline Young

Asia said now babe if you fall of the side 🤷🏽‍♀️ 😂

Kyndu

"Blood in Blood out"

Shirlene Wright

HOW DID I FORGET THAT THOR ( Chris) WAS IN THIS!?!

C R

This the only new star trek worth watching

Jordan Jackson

Lowkey this move was kind of great, actually. For being made in 2009, it's superb.

Kyndu

Before you watch Star Trek "Into Darkness". Must watch Star Trek "Wrath of Khan" first!!!

Michele Pérez

The original television series ran from 66 to 69. However, it’s been airing on television for over 50 years.

Matt F

I think they don't realize there are multiple Star Trek shows lol. I hope they react to Star Trek The Next Generation some day. To me that show is the GOAT!

Deep Dives

Should watch the 10 best episodes of TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, and Picard season 3 to get the over all gist of the 60 year old franchise.

Deep Dives

The Motion Picture first! How you recommend WoK without Space Seed?

Poopy McDoodooface

Such great reactions to a great movie. I was never a "treckie" growing up but this was a really good movie. Thanks Asia & BJ.

Marty B

To really appreciate the acting of the stars of this movie you have to see some of the original series. Karl Urban as Bones just floored me. the way the actors portray well known characters in such a similar style while making the character their own was genius imo

Kelly

Jordi LeForge is "the guy with the thing" over his eyes and he's from Start Trek Next Generation - not the same franchise. You can watch those movies also - they're fun - but I recommend going back to the original William Shatner movies - skipping the first one and starting with Wrath of Khan. It's a personal favorite - then you can watch this franchise's version of Khan - it's a good second place

Dan Gershgol

This was way better than I thought it would be. I watched Star Trek Next Generation when I was very young. I missed out on the original.

Kyndu

The Motion Picture... No. "Space Seed"(Season 1 ep 22) ... Yes. Just didn't want to ask for 2 much.

Deep Dives

Peoples problem with TMP is "You were expecting George Lucas and you got Stanley Kubrick".

David Croft-Ogawa

Oh man, that was so much fun watching this with you. I wish Miss Asia knew more of the backstories for context, but BJ will catch you up. And you will enjoy also how the Doctor gets all fired up all the time.

Jeremiah

Today, my dream came true. Asia and BJ do Star Trek!! Take my money if you do the shows and the films! 💰 💰 🖖

Jesse McAdams

The "Young Guns" were the original crew. This was a bit of an origin story. There were no "sons" in the way that you are thinking.

Vigorous Strongs

ASIA and BJ I REALLY LOVE THIS MOVIE. Please let's watch the second movie Star Trek Into Darkness (2013).

Dylanja

BJ called Chris Hemsworth Chris Collinsworth. 🤣🤣 Asia must really love Monday Night Football. It's crazy how Zoe stars in three blockbuster franchises: Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Star Trek. She's great in Lioness too.

Troy

Omg you have to watch the 2nd movie now. It better then the first

RollingAcres47

George Kirk fought a massive ship all by himself, knowing he was never going to make it out, while 800 people escaped to safety including his wife and newborn son...man went out like a total G.

BRT

This is a really good film, with a few caveats. It does stand on it's own, but I hate that you are missing out on all the tribute moments to the original series, the original characters and even the original actors in their characterizations. It makes this film even better. Also, you don't have the benefit of appreciating the developments of the alternate timelines and how the original timeline both differs and relates to this one. I would still suggest watching a selection of the top rated original series episodes. Someone else mentioned the top ten highest rated, which I would LOVE to see, and at least "Star Trek, the Motion Picture" and (the best of the original franchise films)"The Wrath of Khan" featuring the original cast, to understand why these characters have been so beloved for generations. I predict that you will fall in love too.

BRT

Karl was definitely channeling DeForest Kelly, and all the other actors portraying the main characters were awesome.

Kyndu

Wayne Rivera · 1w Peoples problem with TMP is "You were expecting George Lucas and you got Stanley Kubrick".

BRT

Definitely has more in common with the psychological focus of "2001" than the flash of Lucas' work during the same period. For me, it's hard not to appreciate it based solely on the first reunion of the cast in the story line, ten years after the series. I remember reading that the first day of filming on the bridge, everyone ruined their make-up because of how emotional they became. I rewatched it last year and was surprised that I liked it better than the first time I watched. Of course the first film could, technically, be skipped and just take the elapsed time and events for granted, but som TOS episodes, including "Star Seed" would still be a must as background for "Wrath of Khan".

Martyn Dawson

Surely you should be watching the original films first 🤔
