Better Call Saul S5. E7 and E8

Comments

Cole hauser

And here we are my favorite episodes of the season🙌🙌🙌🙌

Davey11

When BJ said Saul was dealing with level 4 criminals, I was thinking surely the Cartel are level 5. Then I realised that level 5 is the government

Dan Gonya

Dropping a frozen chicken in the hot oil would create a boil-over immediately and the oil would ignite from the burners below, spreading fire vigorously across the floor, then it would hit the gasline that they cut and...BOOM!

Jonathan D

Awesome reaction you guys!!!

Jonathan D

The guy that your were referring to that made the call when the Twins arrived was NOT Juan Bolso, that was someone else.

Jesse

YEAH B#TCH !!! These two episodes are the bomb. Like writing , acting and directing wise? All upper level yo. Hitting Los Pollos on the way home now. Can’t wait for 📺 and 🍗 . Thanks Asia, BJ and Fam!!! ☮️💙

Bill B.

1:34:00 thank you BJ I always thought that part sounded just like an Eminem song!

Clockwork360

Yes that was his debut "My Name is". Unforgettable lol.

Clockwork360

That was not Don Bolsa that tried to intercept the money, although that was a great theory upon first watch. That was just a henchman who just knows the operation. As far as drinking urine, not going to lie, if death was at my doorstep too and I had no choice, can't say pride would take over at that moment, however, when BJ said that, I thought about a movie where this reference came up. You should check it out if you haven't already, and damn it could of been apart of your Halloween horror movies. But like Scary Movie 2 this is a horror comedy called "This is the End" with Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill, among others. Hilarious, but relevant to your last comment. Another movie I've been shilling for is called No Escape with Owen Wilson. Movie is pure edge of your seat but I digress lol.

Saul was one of my favorite characters in BB. But as BCS went on, I disliked him more and more. He's so vindictive, selfish, insecure, immature, and manipulative. At this point, there's almost nothing likeable about him. I could never figure out what Kim saw in him. I always thought she was way too good for him!

Bill B.

Kim loves the type of scheme they pulled as Giselle and “Viktor with a K”, and probably Jimmy is the only person she can do that with. Also the both of them are super smart and that is another attraction. They also had to work their tails off to get where they are. Kim’s mom was an alcoholic in some middle of nowhere place. Jimmy was never as smart as Chuck … something else in common. As opposed to a guy like Howard who seems to have been born with a silver spoon.

Kimberly Tyda

BJ doing a little chair Rumba! 😁💃

Kimberly Tyda

Yeah, I've seen that character analysis before. I'm still not sold! Lol. She's not vindictive and destructive like he is. And she let him drag her down over and over. I really hated that.

This is my favorite episode of BCS! I’ve watched this many times — but I just discovered something new, which is that Mike was able to track Saul to the pick up spot for the money because he installed his little tracking device in Saul’s gasoline cap! We know this because Mike takes it off of Saul’s car before they ditch the vehicle onto the side of the road! This little tracking device brings me to another realization, which is that they actually COULD HAVE hidden the big bags of money somewhere in the desert, and come back to get them, by putting the tracking device into one of the bags before hiding them (either burying them, or placing them under some rocks, or whatever). This would have made things much easier — but then, it wouldn’t be such an enjoyable episode to watch!

All See’er

Gustavo stayed in Htown for the night near Reliant for the rodeo? I need that room, heavily discounted of course

Jesse

Yo. An Eminem track on BCS ? Nope. What we’re hearing is British singer Labi Siffre's 1975 track "I Got The..." Eminen sampled it and turned it into “My Name Is” twenty three years later.

Jesse

Good points. And right. Why make things easy. What you wrote reminds of Lord of the Rings. Gandalf could have just used the Eagles to fly the ring over Mount Doom and drop it in. No pain no gain? More like no strain (strife) no drama (show).

Clockwork360

TL;DR: With the variables at stake here, leaving it up to that type of chance would be a very bold move. I actually don't agree with this for several reasons. 1. They are in the desert with temps reaching near or above 120 degrees as well as very cold nights. While it's speculative, the batteries on that thing may not of lasted under that type of pressure or even the device itself. Burying it may even cause the tracking to distort, or not even work correctly. Not something you want happening in this type of situation. 2. Just hiding it somewhere leaves it to wild animals, insects, rain, and other such things to possibly upon return, come up missing, or scattered. This is not such a long shot as the first thing, but a very real possibility. 3. Hiding could work, as devils advocate to number 2, but then there is the matter of time itself. Realistically, while Mike speculated; "Not Much Longer", I'm quite sure they really didn't know, and that it is more of a method to "Keep Going" until they reached civilization, than knowing exactly how long they had. Mike and Jimmy had very different reasons for getting that money to its destination, and leaving things up to chance was just not an option. 4. Lastly, think about it, I know you are tired, death is practically calling, and you (Jimmy, not so much Mike) are definitely not built for this, there is another matter that is much much worse... Lalo/Cartel. In Jimmy's eyes, anything happens to that money, you have just signed a death sentence to both you, Kim and possibly Kim's family if any are still alive. For Mike/Gus Lalo stays in and this creates problems for Gus. But to conclude, would you leave 7...million...dollars to fate? I know people who get uptight handling 100.00 dollars of another persons. Not saying your solution couldn't work, but that's a lot of "leaving it to chance" in my opinion.

Clockwork360

Well it wouldn't be an Em track anyway as they just used the music itself and the singer Labi (I presume), did start singing on it, but most people will associate that sound with Em like myself as I've never heard of and probably would not of even listened to said musician. Nevertheless, they did sound good so I'm def not knocking it.

Clockwork360

I since edited it, but the Owen Wilson Movie is called No Escape, not No way out, sorry about that.

Miss Melissa

It’s always fun to find out where samples come from. All I could hear in my mind though was Slim Shady lol.

Miss Melissa

BJ, if you want to know the answer to whether or not you should run off with cartel money found in the desert, the Coen Brothers film No Country for Old Men is a must watch. Won Best Picture in 2008 and is one of the best modern western movies ever. ✨💕✌️

Miss Melissa

Bagman is a great episode. I do love Saul but I agree that he’s now past the point of defending and his antics are too much. When Chuck died, any pretense of doing right for the sake of doing right went out the window, and Jimmy gets more unlikable as time goes on. I do also think that Gus’s machinations regarding Lalo (and the Salamancas in general) get to be a little over the top. He knows how to stage a hit to look like he didn’t do it. Did he really need to blow up a Pollos?

All See’er

If someone told me they were making a chicken bomb I’d be intrigued at first, sounds delicious

Clockwork360

What's crazy is that the book was written by one of my favorite authors Cormac Mccarthy. He wrote No Country for Old Men, as well as my personal favorite The Road. This is also a motion picture starring Viggo Mortensen. Graphic but a must see as well. Lol some people try to say the movie the Road is the prequel/sequel to Intersteller (not to be taken seriously, and I used both prequel and sequel because Intersteller does timeline jumps. The Road connection implies that the apocalyptic event happening in the road could be the Blight famine that took place in Intersteller.)

Jesse

Exactly. I heard “My Name Is” right away yet I’m a musician too. So I was a bit blown away that I didn’t know he sampled the music from a 70s track. Had to research it.

Josh

Bj..Mike don't play. He was a sniper in the Vietnam War.

Ms Vanillabean

BJ, I drink urine smoothies every morning. Just put some spinach and strawberries in it and it’s delicious! 👩‍🍳 💋 😂

N M

I wouldn’t think the heating element underneath a floor would need any maintenance, unless the floor becomes damaged in some way.

Robert

its likely mike was a sniper in vietnam. when he first met the black market rifle dealer in the motel earlier in the series he went through the rifles and then said he was familiar with the m40? (i think) and says its good they changed it from wood to fiber glass, because who would think it was a good idea to send them into the jungle with wooden guns... or something like that. so, mike is a survivalist and knows hard times, and has a very particular set of skills (taken reference :P). explains a lot about him.

Jake Martin

Mike is the realest of the real. If I had to survive a multi-day trek through the desert with someone, I'd choose Mike any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Tamika

This is my 3rd time watching episode 7 and I just realized that, Gus is the higher than Madrigal. I always thought Madrigal got into the business and had Gus running the business, but Gus's business got so big, that he needed more than just 1-2 restaurants, he needed to get a whole international corporation to launder his money. Crazy!! I hate that this whole BB/BCS universe ended without them giving us a series or even a little miniseries about who Gus really is and what happened in Chile.

David Cansler

You'll never drink apple juice again...LOL

Cindy Beach

Here’s what I thought of on my umpteenth watch. Mike had his own vehicle when he arrived at the scene. They could have just taken his ride. He wasn’t concerned about ditching the car until it broke down. Then they had to get off the road. Mike is so observant and it’s kind of out of character for him not to make sure Saul’s car would make it before they took that option. Hindsight is always 20/20.

N M

Mike car got hit with a bullet that punctured the gas tank (or maybe it was the radiator), which spilled liquid all over the ground, so it was no longer drivable. The other cars there were also hit with bullets and were not drivable. Saul’s car was the only option left.

Clockwork360

I wouldn't say he was higher than Madrigal. More that he went into a partnership with the company's (CEO)?!? If you notice, Gus is trying to convince "him" not to crack under pressure. More because I believe to a degree, Gus is protected as long as the CEO doesn't fold. They obviously knew each other for a while, and even did some dirt back in the day implying that this guy was probably more fearsome than Gus back then. Time caught up but, both found a way to make even more money through the illegal drug trade. This episode speaks silent volumes in my opinion, because it really tells you that doing the math on everything Gus has his hands in, would already make him a quadruple billionaire (mildly exaggerating but the point stands). In reality, his funds coupled with the CEO's backing is what is allowing all this to happen.

Michael King

Gus is probably a war criminal from Pinochet’s regime who changed his name and got the hell out when it collapsed. Just like the high ranking Nazi officials who changed their names and moved to various countries when the war ended. I doubt there are many people who are more fearsome than Gustavo Fring. It’s possible the CEO was connected to Nazis who fled, maybe a son. But I’m not going to go that far. He’s chickenshit though. Gus was probably high ranking and responsible for a good chunk of the genocide there.

Eligh Te

its actually genius how they thought of a way for peter schuler to be dipping potatos in condiments at madrigal, a good way for viewers to connect the memory of him taste testing the sauces at madrigal in breaking bad. also lydia talks about shanking people in prison to deal with them, which she does to eight people in two minutes with walt.

Eligh Te

love how they show jimmy washing his shoes with his only water lmao

Daniel Moskowitz

Just smoked a spliff. Spice curls sound mighty fine to me too. Also, I have heated floors.

Your piss might taste good at a certain point of dehydration
