Though it's not there just for that, but rather because I believe it's the most genuine and honest way the characters would act n_nBtw the thing with the straw, don't the Japanese call it an indirect kiss in anime??

I could have extended the safe scene and turned it into something more chaotic, but there were a lot of factors to consider (neither the Boy—especially him!—nor Joris could be too involved for moral and/or legal reasons, and Tera had to be efficient for a more coherent image of the character, and then there was the overall pacing of the scene). Maybe I'll update it for the next update, we'll see!

Oh, while drawing the Boy in a full side view, I realized it might look like he's wearing a tight short dress: it's more of a short jumpsuit! I need to give him a full-body shot in the next pages to make it clearer lol.---

I don’t know if anyone has been following the Inkies Awards on Tapas? I didn't get very involved in this contest, because I don't know, that's not me. I'm pretty down to earth I think, not very competitive also, so I keep it cool, and I didn’t take the time to properly promote it on my social media- damn me; So whatever happens, I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who voted and supported The Boy & the Wolf, y'all are the best ❤

(Again, my apologies for taking up so much space here) Awesome, stunning update! (I totally dig those styles – can you please do an artbook/compendium with their outfits and styles?!!!) With Tera it’s always the little things… him reaching for the Boy while opening that storage door is such a “confession”. Quietly, casual, natural and to me it feels like something Tera would do, in all honesty, when he’s emotionally invested and committed. It made my heart skip a beat (or two). I also kept staring at the panel where Tera puts down the Boy’s cup. The Boy in front of him – it reminds of the scene on the bike, but now they are in a “different place”, and the Boy seems to be leaning in – just like Tera does – without any of them having to (different from a ride on the motorbike – there was a certain necessity to be close). Now it’s in public and totally by choice… and the Boy actually seems to be very ok with it. He called Tera a “big bully” in the beginning and fought him tooth and nail – they have come a long way. The Boy especially. And it’s such a joy to witness. Really. Heartwarming and something I always wished for the both of them (feeling that way). That level of “content and confident”. I wonder how the drink might taste… if Tera associates it with the Boy… maybe something sweet and fluffy, creamy? Makes me also wonder… they Boy himself seemed to be surprised by the taste (and very happy about how it tastes) so… I kept thinking, maybe he didn’t exactly order that exact thing, but instead Jo just made him something, to “shut him up” (hard to talk while drinking). Maybe Jo randomly just chose whatever… or maybe Jo thought too, that this flavor would be “so like the Boy”… which somehow means, he knew as well as Tera, even though for different reasons! Or the Boy ordered something that read tasty but had no idea what exactly it was. And of course, when it’s all funny, calm and fluffy… there comes the grain of salt (which I love about B&W) and “reality” kicks in. Tera, in front of the shop, so the cops won’t open fire because of the possibility of collateral damages, bystanders caught by ricochets. “He knows what he’s doing”… he does. Also, I still try to determine if it is a flat-out statement… or a threat. “You don’t want to get on Black Death’s bad side, you and your family” I understand it as a threat… because of the added “you and your family”. Tera knows. Tera knows! He knows that the Chief is the Boy’s uncle. He knows what happened to the Boy’s parents and brother. And I even believe that he knows more about it than we currently do. He knows, and still, he is phrasing it that way. That’s also Tera. The same Tera, who put the stars and their light in the Boy’s palms, to keep the dark and fear at bay. The same Tera who outright stalked the Boy to make sure he is safe. The same Tera who wiped out a whole gang, because their leader threatened the Boy. And even now, Tera is doing it to make a difference and protect someone else by doing so… and still… it’s all him. Every aspect of it. Throughout the whole story so far, Tera never voiced an empty “promise”. Not once. Maybe that’s why I am so confused and just hope, it’s just a matter-of-fact-statement. Not a threat (even though, to me, it kinda feels like one). But maybe that’s him too, or that’s totally on me. I don’t think he would actually hurt the Boy. By no means, don’t get me wrong. I am rather referring to the fact, that it is pretty cruel to phrase it like that, well knowing what happened. The impact it has – in the first place, that’s the reason why Tera is doing all this, stealing money. To spare Laurent and his family that exact same fate he is talking about in that moment. That leaves me a little shaken (and the uncertainty of that last panel doesn’t help with that, at all! Good thing then, that at least it was a smoke grenade and not one of those explosives he carried for getting the safe). But yes, all that contributes to the fact that this is my favorite read! That tasty grain of salt, darkness and bloodshed alongside the fun, calm, affectionate, caring and tender. (What?! I can’t help it!). ^^’

uuuh the cliffhanger at the end we do love a bit of a dramatic exit over here ♡ but also, Tera's smirk once he tried the Boy's drink? had me in a chokehold. the Boy blushing at every subtle interaction? chef's kiss! all the leaning closer and closer and the subtle touching? P E R F E C T I O N it feels a bit like the bike scene, but now there's an added sweetness to it, that feels like it's derived from the fact that they trust each other waaaay more than before. the wait it's gonna strain me now, but I know it will be well worth the wait. Bravo Pico! ps: we need to know Joris's haircare routine, his luscious locks are picture perfect

PS: (to my last comment – again sorry, it should have been just a “short note” but… erm… well.) I think I am finally able to compose myself enough to re-evaluate… I said it’s always the little things with Tera. And it is. I firmly believe in that, just as much as I believe in the artist. It was never ever lazy story telling and I doubt it ever will be. I do trust that. So, I came to the conclusion that there is a fine line between Tera talking about Black Death as his family, him being one more sharp weapon in their arsenal and part of the pack… and Tera talking about “them”. He did the latter throughout chapter 14. There is a rift, and he has been already drifting from them for some time now. Therefore, I came to the conclusion, that his statement to the Chief “You don’t want to get on Black Death’s bad side, you and your family” is actually him simply listing the well-known consequences. Not him threatening to pull it through. Maybe even a good advice, a reminder not to trigger that chain reaction - Tera probably has no influence wether or not Black Death would take action. After all, they have a reputation to uphold. Maybe you could consider Tera's words as a "friendly reminder"... (yeah, I came a long way from feeling threatened to that current conclusion...) Tera is someone you better take up on his word and I think that’s something he is proud of. But that also means, not throwing around death threats like it’s beads on Mardi Gras (or…candy on carnival. Yanno, you catch my drift here). Kain told Tera “even when you’re out solo, you represent Black Death” (in my words). That’s what the Uncle sees and the police too. The people in the Café, even Jo does, because he is scared of “Tera” as an icon, a symbol, which is part of Black Death (just think back to his reaction when Tera got hurt by the Boy or when he finally recognized Tera, when he opened his helmet visor while Jo was stuffing the Boy in his trunk – back then, Jo had no problem to pick a fight with an unknown guy annoying him – as soon as he recognized Tera… he wasn’t happy to see a friend, but rather scared, because of the way he spoke to Tera beforehand.) That’s why I think, in this situation in front of the Café, Tera is using that street credit, and him being that symbol of terror simply as a means to get away. Not a personal promise to the Chief. Risk assessment, calculation and exit strategy. And that makes the difference to me. Though… there is still that remaining risk. It just takes one trigger-happy person in the police force with a solid PTSD from that last bloody crime scene in the parking garage to pull the trigger on that “monster” in front of him. Or a man at his limit and under a lot of pressure by his boss and society to finally make progress in that “Black Death”- matter – and also coping with the gruesome death of a huge part of his family… it had a huge impact on his life, including having to take care of a child all of a sudden. Let’s hope the chief is a man with extraordinary self- restraint. And as funny and amazing as the scene in the storage room is, with first the Boy and then Jo trying to be part of the heist, mimicking Tera in their own way… I can see why it is problematic to find the right balance (yes, I am basically choking on that realization, because I love that scene so much and can hardly ever get enough of the three of them!) but imagine… the police will question the witnesses. And both, Jo and the Boy, are around for a second time in a row when Black Death strikes. That does arise some questions, especially when witnesses might talk about the level of involvement of those two – or the Boy in particular. Who knows who else might catch the news about it... I can relate why neither Tera, nor Pico want the both of them get too involved. I am curious how it might be edited and what a difference it might make.

PPS....? 😑 This one special gesture, when Tera is reaching out to the Boy while opening that storage door... it also has something protective and reassuring about it. Currently, Tera is pretty isolated. Back then he turned to Kain to talk to... nowadays he doesn't, at all (which is part of the problem). The Boy finally has found someone to talk to and confide in - someone else than Lee. He even trusted Tera with his fears and nightmares and he felt "seen". Recognized and received. But at the same time, while trusting Tera with all that - it made it worse for Tera, it had a huge impact (not just on the wall, taking the brunt of Tera's feelings afterwards). Without a doubt, the Boy is imporant to Tera, his well-being and safety... and there is trust. Tera worked pretty hard for that and got physically injured along the way more than once... But I wonder... who will he be talking to? Unloading it on the Boy? Bottling it all up inside? He is trying to make a difference now, but that doesn't change the past... or what he is capable of. The Wolf has it rough and though right now and I can't wait to see the outcome. I believe the Boy is pretty strong himself and able to carry that weight if Tera might decide to lean on him.

The best part is this little gentle touch Tera is giving the boy. Just a little gesture but full of emotions. Z-Pico you're a master at depicting emotions in your drawings without people actually having to see them. That's one reason why I love the comic so much, you manage to make emotions tangible without too much drama. The interpersonal relationships between Tera and the boy are omnipresent without seeming forced.
