     What happened between both scenes is that Joris certainly made a weird face when he tasted the cake, but before he said anything, saw Tera on the other side of the table waving at him to shut up if he didn't want to get his ass kicked - 

See, Tera didn't say anything for this time, he doesn't want to discourage the Boy (who looks so proud lol). 

Just read: "If you are the primary cook at home, then the men under your roof are at your mercy." Goddammit I need to learn how to cook -

Coming back after multiple rereading of the comics, I thought the Boy would be at least decent at cooking since we saw him make crepes with grandma. Also since their each other care givers, I thought grandma would have taught the Boy some of her recipes which he later made for her since she would forget them. I'm sorry for rambling, I am absolutely obsessed with the story and characters ❤️

Cooking is not that hard. I am a student with a very unforgiving and tight structured schedule and you can manage to cook good food for you and your guests very easily. You don't need fancy pans, the latest kitchen stove or the freshest ingredients that take about a third of your income.

Imma be real. Im not entirely convinced The boy didn't cast a spell on Tera. Tera doesn't strike me as a particularly patient man... but he's proven willing to take literally anything the boy can throw at him and then come back seeking more

I actually think Tera is very patient with whomever/whatever piques his interest. He likes cats (he's got more than one) so he's gotta like fickle/playful/i-do-what-i-want-whenever-i-want creatures. The boy fits in there perfectly so it all matches so far ... I think the "spell" part will come a bit later ;)
