Priorus post : Sticker making behind story 5 - 1

In this post, I will explain the reason and process for choosing Artist's choice stickers.

As I wrote in my previous post, since they have a warm brown tone, I thought a matte coating and gold foil would go well with them.

The type of additional coating, such as foil and hologram, that goes into the picture has a lot to do with the overall feel of the finished sticker sheet. So, I first considered topics that would go well with similar colors, such as foxes, and gold.

So, it was decided to be Bichir (Polypterus).

Their color tone and 'ancient' feel would be perfect with gold.

Their many fins will look great with foil points.

Another thing I took into consideration was the size of the sticker pieces. Most of bichir are babies, but two adults can be placed quite large on the sticker sheet.

The fox is a case with a somewhat complicated outline.

In the case of the otter, the outline is simple, but the tail was modified for placement reasons, while the position of the legs for the fox was changed.

The picture below is a rough draft to determine how to modify and what stickers to include.

Unfortunately, the silver fox (a dark fox with a white tail) was excluded.

I added 'paw' in the margin.

I think it can be a cute point when decorating.

In the case of fish... it is, of course, 'egg'.

Drawing a cutting line. The tail and feet have been changed from the original art.

The cut lines are drawn using a photoshop brush.

Maybe other artists probably use the 'lasso' or 'pen tool' more, but brushes more convenient for me 😂

This is the completed cutting line.

The picture on the right is the final printed image.

Due to the work process, there may be an error of about 1~2mm in the cutting line and gold leaf.

(This is not an error.)

So, I calculated it and drew additional margins so that it wouldn't look awkward even if the cutting line and gold leaf deviate just a little from the exact place I intended.

Starting tomorrow, I will be working on converting Adobe Illustrator to vector using the pen tool 🥹👍🫡

I plan to finish this editing work as quickly as possible and draw a new illustration. The weather is getting warmer and I have some spring-related ideas.

Samples of the actual stickers will be show as early as mid-April or late April.

thank you!

thank you! I'm glad you like bichir. it will be cool and shiny when they are actually printed because there are a lot of gold foil parts.

I love the scales on the bichir stickers, and I’m excited to see them in person! And the foxes are sooooo cute; I especially adore the sleeping ones.

I LOVE THE FOXES, I am so excited!

I have always really loved how your stickers "expand" past the cutting lines to allow for small cutting differences. It makes every sticker turn out perfectly. Very cool thank you

Really excited for the Birchir, so beautiful 😍

I love it when they sleep curled up. It looks like they are hugging themselves. (The tail looks really fluffy)

Thank you very much Tefu!

It would be cute to decorate as a diary or small point 😁

thank you! I think the white border of the sticker is also attractive, but personally, I still think my drawings look the prettiest when they are perfectly aligned with the cutting lines. It takes a bit more editing time to produce it that way, but it's always worth it 😄

Thanks for looking forward to it! Glad you like bichir fish!
