Hello~

It's probably a bit of a flashy title, but I received an offer from a small amateur studio that would be willing to make a few minutes of animation for me.

It would be a dream come true. But I've never tried such an ambitious project before.

I know that many people use crowdfunding to finance their projects, but in this kind of niche, I'm not sure?

It's a fairly ambitious studio, and it would take at least $10,000 for one minute of animation, but it could be done.

Edit : Here is a sample of what they have been able to do: https://x.com/LanwenTuzStudio/status/1758375753543266369

A very interesting project!

What do you think?

Seeing your stuff animated would be awesome but time intensive, best to stick with what you know until you feel what's good for you. If you do want to go through this then you need to be more lax with limiting an upload schedule

Normally, the studio would take care of all that. I can't do everything. But it's interesting!

Woah it would be a huge milestone It could happen

RuNaruX

just saw the sample, really good and i agree that this would be a big milestone

Tumble

Seriously? That sounds fantastic if that is possible

Yeah, sounds interesting. 10k for a minute is a lot of money tho, but if they are willing to do all the work then yeah. I could see you crowd sourcing this over time. Easiest way is just to presell the finished work for 10-20 bucks a pop. Even adding a higher tier that costs a little more to fundraise over time. I could see you raising it in six months maybe a year. Bigger question do you have an idea you would want animated? A minute is not a lot of time to work with. Would they be willing to do something longer at a discounted rate. Doing all the prep-work is most of the battle, not that animation is easy, but contracts, finding VA, and sound effects, scheduling, editing and all that is a lot if you have never done it before. So I could see it being worth it if you have a vision of something you want animated.

Yes, if I animate a comic, it will be a simple 5-page comic as the basis for the project. I know a few websites for voice actresses, etc., but if they know of any, that's fine too! I wonder if a site like Kickstarter would be interesting? Do you think we can pre-sell the project without proof? Honestly, I don't really know how this kind of financing works.

Abazaba

Yeah I do think you could pre-sell the project. The proof comes as you work on it. As you get more information like actual budget, and work on things like the story board, and script. The more information / visuals you have to sell the concept to people the better. Also your body of work and years in the industry / genre also help a lot when it comes to pre-selling a project like this. The largest struggle would be finding a site that would host the crowdfunding, most sites now would not take a project like this, due to its adult nature. So either doing something via a site like Ko-fi, or adding a tier to your current Patreon and keeping that community updated would probably work better. Working small and building it up over a year or more it could be done. Just have to break it down into small steps and slowly posting what you can do on your own to build hype on your own before having the full money to finish it. What your asking is a lot of money, but not impossible.

Zobbie

Oh, I see! Okay, I'll probably do that at first. I'll check out Ko-Fi or just my Patreon. I'll also have to think of a little scenario. I'll probably create some sketches or illustrations to promote the animation. That's doable. I'll probably get to it in September if I have time. I have so much work right now. Thanks for your idea!
