Look, I value all of your feedback and I think I need to make some changes to Dragon, but it is in limbo because it is currently with the editor.

As we learned in book 4, Zach was uncomfortable with the presence of other male dragons. He had an itch to fight them even though he was friends. I didn't dwell too much on it, but it was part of the dragon culture.

Now enter a potential village of chromatic dragons, there is no realistic way that the males don't tear each other apart living in a small village. Yet if they were to expand within The Wilds, they would quickly become prey to much larger things such as Quetzalcoatl. Because dragons are fucking tasty.

Thus we have an Amazonian village of dragons in The Fae Wilds. Their culture I spun out of what I expected would happen in the situation of their exile and the pressures on them in The Fae Wilds.

The sealing of male dragons for them is a sustainable way of life. I meant to make you uncomfortable. Zach is supposed to see a life that he almost lived, but didn't because of [deleted for spoilers].

If he were to remove the male dragons, or undo their seals, he would kill the village. AND I'm sure some of you are cheering for that to happen, but that shows me I went a little far with the village and their treatment of males. That and he can't destroy the village without creating an absolutely giant shit storm of either rampaging dragons or destroying the production of mana in the world, leading to the collapse of all paranormal kind.

So, I probably need to crack this back open when I get it from the editor and rethink it a little. But I don't want to go make the size of edits I need in my pre-editor manuscript only to then have to merge it with what I get back from my editor. Thus, I am pausing Dragon for 5ish days to get my edits back and then take another pass over this. I'll probably end up posting the edited chapters as I work them over, but there will be a delay.

I will do my best to fill that with Dungeon Chapters, but I also just started SSV4.

Ty for your understanding.

PS some of you are coming up with some really fucking good story lines that I did not write.

Dang, I really wanted to know how he would deal with the situation, but I guess it was too "extreme" for haremlit.

Swagmaster

I can see the whole matter of survival to seal the males. But when Zach is seen as an "escaped" male and a good breeder to be tamed. Definitely feels more of a controlled society then a chosen society to seal dragons for betterment of the tribe. Let alone their reaction to an unsealed male should totally be different then. But go too soft and instead of a battle of a culture to free the dragons, it will become a mission of freeing the dragons purely so they're not suffocated in the wilds. Though ultimately I think as king Zach will end up having to leave the dragons society alone So I hope you'll keep some uncomfortable feelings towards the tribe. Keep up the great work!

Mateo

I find it interesting, it makes sense without any confusion on how the dragons got this way. I think people are more uncomfortable because it feels longer than it really is. If the full book was out it'd only be a few chapters, but it's prerelease chapters over multiple days so we sit with it more. Idk if I'm making sense.

Jesse

I'm very glad to see this, because I was starting to draw some nasty parallels to the more obscene human cultural practices. Which in turn meant that regardless of how 'sustainable' the amazon dragon society was to them, it needed to be destroyed. I've very little tolerance for evil with good PR, and the current text for the amazons is very much that. They're mutilating children, and brainwashing them into thinking it's a good thing. Depending on how this section goes, it could be good, or it could be terrible. I'm withholding judgement until the final version, because I really expect it to be good once it's finalized.

GhostPhil

Yeah I for example didn't read the chapters in Mana that were a bit similiar on Patreon, but the whole book. Obviously a whole different feeling, when you can instantly read further and not wait a day

Bob Bryan

Yeah, it's always the problem with Amazon villages, slavery. I guess it is a good thing everyone collectively hates it. Just my 2 cents maybe make it so only the full dragon is sealed not the dragon knight so the men have some autonomy, minus the men who go to far and maybe a male champion. Plus having less that all the girls look down on the men like slaves and more like they have to protect them, though a corrupt leader medling would still give zach skmething to fight and change, plus allowig at least some men to leave if they want to or stay and live like they are. Again just my opinion

Ray

Anyone else feel a little bad? This was his story and we're making him change it just for our own comfort. I mean, we all knew that Zach was going to find a way out out of everything in the best way possible! Otherwise this would be the last book. Sure, I had my qualms about it. But I was still going to read it and wonder how things would turn out. Everything made sense too. Sorry Bruce.

Lucky

I really hope you see my comments as a compliment. I was always told by this ancient professor I had in college: ‘having a visceral reaction to literature, is mana to the author’s soul’. The fact that you could write a fantasy fiction book, and in a few chapters, make me angry is a huge compliment to your writing. I do understand what you are saying though. We may have reacted a little more extreme than possibly intended. Without knowing how this ends, this could really be, like someone wrote above, just fine and a great section of tension. You have not let us down yet and have done an amazing job. Easily, you have become one of my two favorite authors. Keep it up!

Swagmaster

Personally I think it's more that the society here has been established for hundreds of years so it'd be difficult for the dragons to ever leave and join society. Thus leaving the entire tribe as a liability better kept at arms length making it unlikely to bear fruit in future books. This makes it difficult to form any emotional connection to any characters of the tribe.

GhostPhil

I find it a bit hard to decide on that without know how it ends, but you could always do a poll I guess 🤔

Rogue

I feel like the Amazon dragons remind me too much of the church and angels. Since, we're suppose to hate the angels and their enslavement of dragons, we find parallels between them.

Az

Jesse

He has the ability to do what he likes with the story - it's his, and I fully believe that. I've been treating Patreon a little like alpha reading, where you are a test subject to see if something works or not. Up to the author to decide what to do with the feedback (because not all feedback is good or useful!)

Bruce_Sentar

Na. You guys are valuable early feedback. There are normally small changes that come from Patreon. I was already thinking that his capture was unsatisfying and you guys confirmed that a bit. The Amazon tribe needs to be dialed back from them sneering when they say 'male'.

Bruce_Sentar

The level of reaction here will make complications down the road for the plot that I think would make the larger book unfulfilling.

Konrad

I honestly don’t think there needs to be too much change just as long as Zach kills and eats a few of the more deeply evil ones (it seems clear that Hip has been engaged in some seriously messed up sexual misconduct for example). I guess ultimately why I thought this seemed messed up/morally wrong was because they’ve had north of 2,000 years to think of a way where the men don’t need to have their dragons just instantly sealed off. Off the cuff I can think of a few things, the first that came to mind was that it’s clear from book 4 that at least Bart and Tia can do spatial magic so I think it definitely would have been possible for them to arrange something similar to an expanded version Morgan’s Atrium and have them agree on aiding each other on defense when necessary. I just think that once they had an even semi stable place to live for 100 or less years they could have started to put their minds to finding a way to affect a change in their living arrangements. This is not to say they are required to be evil it could just be the case that the biggest majority of them are content with the current status quo and have no desire to change things that came about in desperate times. There can and should be a minority that are in fact glad to abuse the system and are just bad/evil (seemingly Hip for example) in any society there will be some on the fringes who seek a way of abusing the social structure the parallel for bad people abusing the system with the other dragons can be the dickhead bronze who deliberately provoked Zach into a fight at the conclave for example. Given dragons nature and age you could just make it similar to them not putting the female black dragon on the council them literally not thinking of it lol just on a bigger scale and you could have Zach point out to them that they could have put time and thought into finding a way around the issues with male dragons living near each other and have the majority of them be like shit wow that makes sense some what similar to the female black being like wow I never thought I should even try to be on the council. Plus, given the nature of chromatics I imagine it’s difficult for them to come up with any kind of structured government, in which checks and balances occur to allow for a stable society to exist not to mention it being hard for them to exist in a society to begin with given their chaotic nature. The point being I think it can mostly stay the same but Zach should probably just be… less chill about it no matter the extenuating circumstances and I think the point at which Zach puts on his kings crown and try’s to take charge he should point out that they should have dedicated a serious amount of time to thinking of a way to allow for normal male existence. Honestly to me the issue for them is more the lack of metallics to provide structure and rules because if there were metallic they’d just lay down the law and say the duels among males are required to take place in these designated locations where we can contain them and draw less attention to ourselves from potentially dangerous enemies. Regardless I think Zach should be more pissed at the whole situation even if from a certain perspective it makes sense. Anyway that my way too long two cents.

DJ Johnson

soooo basically it gets worse and our reaction here we'd go even more nuts later on? :P heh.

Dennis Erwin

Yeah, the issue is ultimately that Bruce writes Power Fantasy, and de-powering arcs are always going to be anathema to that. They have to be brief. The comment above about daily preview chapters making the scenes feel longer than they are should be considered, though. If you could read through frustrating de-powering arcs in 15 minutes to get back to the fun ass-kicking arcs with the Hero stronger for it then it would likely present much differently then chewing over it for a couple of days. Nobody would stop at chapter 17 and ruminate over the story for a day or two.

DJ Johnson

Can we get more dungeon since this is on pause please? ;3

Bruce_Sentar

I'm hoping to fill the daily chapters with Dungeon. I don't have quite enough right now, but I'll write Dungeon today and maybe tomorrow.

Bruce_Sentar

It means bringing Regina in for a longer part of the story would be difficult, even if she has a small redemption moment later.

Konrad

I do think there need to be at least some who “sneer when they say male” Zach should just be more pissed at the whole situation I think that would definitely help, I do think it would be best if you toned back Regina’s Amazoness so it’s not too weird for Zach to be into her also that relationship should definitely not happen in this book and maybe not even the next. Just because their values systems are so far apart

John Duncan

Cool you're the author, you can do whatever you want. Have fun reworking it. I know I wasn't enjoying it this time.

John Teeter

Yeah that is a danger when showing the darker side of things. Sometimes the audience's reaction takes them out of the story. I've had RPG gaming groups balk when I've gone too dark on the bad guys which usually derailed my games.

GhostPhil

I personally like the whole situation with Ikta and the nymphs less than the whole Dragon tribe thing. And yeah in a one vs one with Regina he should've a bit better. That he has problems against multiple powered up dragons makes sense though. On the other hand the Fae Wilds are a whole different challenge what he is used to.

Konrad

Out of curiosity are there only like 20 or 30 males for the few hundred females because if they take away their dragons shouldn’t they just be normal humans and live for a maximum of 100 or so years and probably less given dangerous environment they are in?

Konrad

One last comment and this one might be annoying. I’d be careful about softening them up because it could end at a place where what they’re doing is wrong but in a less clear cut way than things stand now and while moral ambiguity is often good it could end up in a pretty dark place in this situation. My biggest suggestion at this point is you don’t need to change things with the Amazons too much but I think Zach had a pretty weak reaction to the whole thing if he developed some more anger and even some directed hated (for specific dragons) and did so more quickly it could work as it stands now I just think he lack of instinctual anger on Zach’s end made it feel off because even if they do have a reason for holding all the men back there should be instinct anger on Zach’s part.

RedShakle

You stuck near true to the Amazonian model, Bruce. When you actually read into their society, the Amazonian were downright evil. A simple solution that may not change much could be based upon a comment in the last chapter’s comments section: the males get aggressive with each other and start fights. This caused the women to seal their dragon parts away if they can’t keep them under control, and gets them hyper protective over them because they can’t defend themselves. I could see that very easily evolving into a female dominated culture in this village, especially if the women are taught from a young age that the men can’t be trusted not to fight each other if their dragon powers are unsealed, which can result in death for the village. If you like, the men can have a cut off age where they have their powers unsealed, and have it be the same age Zach was when he fought Chad. That way the males are still weaker and easily dominated over by the women, but there’s less of a ‘slave’ feel.

RedShakle

Additional: This also allows them to hunt him down because they think they’re doing it for his own good because he’s too weak.

Bob Bryan

No. With how the Amazon culture is now, anything less than destroying them would be seen as bad, an individual maybe, but this society is as even worse than the church in this world.

Konrad

Well like I said before it seems like they had a reasonable reason for them to restrain the males my objection to their society is that they’ve existed for more than 2,000 years without thinking of a way around the whole issue of men killing each other when too close together (something that likely should have been solved after about 100 years of semi stable communal living). It’s not even a true indicator of malevolence on the part of the women they simply could have set things up like they are now and never considered the need to progress past lockdown their dragons, it’s fairly easy to fall into a social practice and just never decide to change it.

Clifford Wilson

At the Conclave Zach did not try to kill the other male dragons and take their marked mates. He should be fine in a village with other mated male dragons. Unless you are planning on him trying to mate with the entire village of female dragons you should be able to make it work out. In the story Zach is also aware he is one only 8 or 9? male dragons in the human world. Despite his internal dragon and certain jealousies (Mine!) he is the King and is aware that more dragons are needed in the world, he needs those male dragons. If the story is spun with Zach taking the Amazonian dragons as mates then their will definitely be significant impact and possible conflict with his current mates which really take away from the story and the diversity of his mates. The Amazonian dragons are way too dominant. As other readers have commented Amazon's are dominant and potentially evil. Also, depending on the direction of the story line/series he will also need the dragons for future conflict with the Vampire's or the Angel's. He still has a bone to pick with the Vampire's for killing the black dragon, that conflict has potential to show up in the story line.

Daniel Glasson

People have seem to have forgotten Zach openly mentioning just how much of an issue he had around Herm and his brother at first. Imagine males hitting puberty and trying to teach them to fight those instincts in an extremely hostile land. Maybe some stories from others about issues they had with unsealed males could help. For the tribe as a whole, from how they've been described so far, these were the inspiration for the Amazons of Greek legend, a tribe notoriously matriarchal who had a dim view of men. I do agree that their male hating could be trimmed back a bit, but with some that still see a male as nothing but a sex toy with legs

Dennis Erwin

Can't argue with that, Ob. Though the whole 'stumble through drama and off a cliff' has been Zack's modus the whole series. It can be annoying, but also part of the charm. A true Leroy Jenkins archetype. Dragon is a good series, but that's also why I like SSV more - Miles is a lot more in-control. Dungeon is also shaping up to be excellent with a bit more cautious of a MC, though we don't have much insight into him yet.

Ray

This is such a healthy place of discussion! If this was a Twitter post, imagine the dumpster fire. I'm proud to be here

Konrad

I see what your saying but my objection is that they’ve been operating for north of 2,000 years and haven’t thought of a way to fix the issues you point out like I’ve said a few time it realistically shouldn’t have taken more than 100 years of semi stable society to think up a way to allow the men to exist naturally. That being said it could be the case that that just never happened it doesn’t necessarily mean they are evil they just had little to no incentive to affect any kind of change so decided to just leave that issue as it was and focus on other things. Add to the fact that they are all chromatics and chaotic in nature thusly they would be wholly incapable of creating any kind of affective or good government so changing bad policies becomes harder and harder especially for those on the bottom of the hierarchy.

Bob Bryan

Do I agree they had a good reason to at least restrain them, yes. Maybe not going full restrait like they did, but I do understand. It's how they are acting towards men that is the problem. The slavery of the men is not justified at all and the hate they spew is in-line with how the church and the angels were acting. Heck. The logic here is the same as Helena's mother, "I am doing this for your own good" as they abuse their position of power and brainwash their victim. Sorry, but I can only view this iteration of the Amazon dragonsnas evil. For the record i don't mean to sound like an ahole, just disagree with your opinion on these dragons.

Konrad

Your good man (not coming across as an ahole 😜 it’s good people can still disagree without pissing each other off past the point of no redemption). I don’t think I conveyed my point too well though, what I was saying is that they should have picked up on the fact that what they were doing was seriously messed up a few years after they had a stable foot hold in the fae wilds about 2,000 years ago if they were on top the issue when it first started they could have figured something out then but because they didn’t get on it quickly it became a part of their culture then for the next 1,900 or so years things started to get worse and worse to the point the out right rapeing some dude you find in the forest is in the conversation for some of them which is obviously messed up but in my mind it’s hard to condemn all of them for being born into a messed up culture that could have been fixed during its inception obviously the ones who were down to rape Zach should just be killed but it seems like that was only one or two.

Iron Akela

Yeah, from what we’ve seen so far, having any of them as anything other than an antagonist would be a challenge.

Iron Akela

I’ll be the first to hold my hand up and say the last few chapters haven’t really floated my boat. Partly that’s because Zach doesn’t seem to have grown (up) at all in the last couple of books (although that’s totally understandable as he’s still largely a human male of 21 or 22 years old, so a few years from maturity). He’s been eating a mana rich diet, learning magic from a wizard and other dragons, and learning to fight from a (former) Amazon and the worlds deadliest paranormal (Morgana). Yet he got he arse kicked and made all sorts of schoolboy errors. I also agree that he seems to have forgiven Winter kinda quick. Regarding the Amazons themselves, I just got the impression that they were bullies because they could. I can totally understand using extreme measures to curb males early on, but I’m in agreement that after a few hundred years someone should have thought ‘is there a better way?’ We don’t know how prolific and often the dragons have been breeding, but it’s probably a lot - which means there’s a lot of sealed males. A (potentially) large number of which have never known their dragons really - like Zach evidently didn’t. So we’re talking all kinds of child abuse and mental torture and other nasty things. Comparing them to the church, and Helena’s mother, is right - only it’s far far worse! So yeah, now they know that there’s other dragons, *maybe* some of the Amazons realise what they were doing is wrong, or galvanise around Zach as they have someone to lead them or something. Maybe some are just stuck in the rut of the status quo. But some will be legitimately evil. The proportions of those three groups would be the bit that needs to be looked at in my opinion. Regina might be a ‘sleeper’, who hates what’s done to the males but is (somewhat) powerless to stop it. That could give her the possibility of being redeemable and therefore eligible to live. The biggest issue though, is how has this whole situation affected the level of mana in the world. Does all the mana come from the dragons in the fae wilds into our world? Or does it stay in the fae realm. Perhaps 95% stays, and so wiping out a large chunk of the dragon population won’t wreck the world. So long as it impacts the Summer and Winter courts equally, it’ll just be a recalibration event. I get why Bruce wants to rewrite the story, I’m honestly somewhat surprised they were so extremist (and thus deserving of hate and a painful death). Because as it is, I don’t really want to see them survive the book, which could cause problems down the road.

Jamie R

I always love and enjoy reading your books, and what GhostPhil has said about Mana 4 was that even though the selling as a slave was a bit uncomfortable, I got to read the book as a whole rather than these individual chapters. I do think there needs to be some of the females to pull back from the beratement and the sneering and that while they understand WHY the dragons had to be sealed, they sympathize with the males for having that part locked away. But the portrayal so far is that they ALL see males as lesser beings and just breeding studs. They don't value a males personality or thoughts at all. Although I realise the irony of that statement as in reality centuries ago, men used to do the same to women.

Ron Ryder

I think you made Zach seem far to weak. He definitely should have put up more of a fight to be captured.

Christopher Clark

Remember that they haven’t been there for 2000 years but since the church drove them out so they shouldn’t be that different from mid evil times

Direwolf1618

I think there are a few reasons this isn’t struck if a chord. First Is the whole village culture/dynamic that I’m not really a big fan of. I could probably get past that with the full book but don’t expect me to like these dragons. But there are a couple other things I don’t see the full book fixing.. Zach is supposed to be the king of dragons an incredibly powerful being, and he is being run rough shod with no respect his way. I’m fine with him losing a 6 on 1 fight but was not really a fight. There is no sense from his captors that yes they caught him but if they aren’t careful they will have a big problem on their hands. A second issue, a bit more subtle, I think is this massive jump in power. Someone like the Brom or Thun, they are now at best mid tier dragons. When they are thousands of years old, the survivors of a horrid genocidal war and the resulting dragon hunt. They held the shattered remnants of their people together, earning respect from the reader. We like these characters. And here come these arrogant bitches who have been sitting around on their fat asses at an all you can eat buffet and are now invalidate everything.

Bob Bryan

Even the good one said that if tiamat didn't talk to him tomorrow she would have to give him to one or 2 of the girls, without his consent. The real problem is we are supposed to like this society. At best there has been centuries of wrong, where men are treated like slaves, not equals. There worse than the groups we are supposed to hate.

STANSTAN42

I think Zack lost all the fights too easily but I was willing to see where this went. The male dragon situation feels like a abused spouse situation where they say he didn't mean to hit me it was my fault. But I'm even willing to see how that resolves.

Direwolf1618

One of the challenges is how does Zack’s dragon getting sealed play in. It’s very clear he was born and sealed in the village, but ended up on earth somehow. Maybe go the route that he was preemptively sealed because of who and what he is, to try and prevent disaster. He was just smuggled out by someone as an infant.

Konrad

That I agree about, I don’t like them and think on the whole they are mostly probably bad people.

Konrad

They existed since the time of the Greeks and fled after the fall of Greece.

Direwolf1618

I am totally fine with the Nymphs being his Achilles heal. His sex drive is not a small part of the series, and Nymphs are literally the thing that it’s like oh yea… Case in point something like a Vampire in Stokers dracula, garlic was a weakness. I don’t have an issue with the MC having a weakness. Going in to this book everyone was like… yea Nymphs are going to be an issue and sure enough…

yo dude

Wonder if we'll get to find out what "wrathful immortality" means in book 4

Sett

I understand your point and support, after all I think that some things, if I may say so, from my perspective, were a little conflicting and also didn't have much logic if you think or review the past experiences of the characters, One of these points would be about the fact that that Zach was subjugated very quickly and easily, he is the KING OF DRAGONS, son of Tiamat and Bahamut, he devoured half of Ikta's power, ate a god, devoured the last silver dragon and inherited his powers through this, fought a prince from hell and consumed many creatures rich in mana, and he lost in any kind of fight to the other dragons? And on top of that no other dragon in the village noticed his power or felt it? Not even Tiamat? And what's worse is that he accepted defeat without a real fight, he fighted with a hydra 1 day before, and did that after jump from a cliff, what did that thing have? ten heads, acidic blood and poison? Second problem I see is that the male dragons we met, mainly in the conclave, were territorial, but well civilized, organized and even diplomatic, did conflicts occur? Yes, but were they fair fights, like duels, was there a certain competition? Of course, but nothing that would justify the Amazons of this village in the jungle to find the males such a danger to survival that the correct solution would be to SEAL their dragon and acted like they are dogs or walking breed machines. The church didn't do that with the silver dragon they captured, so other dragons do that on purpose, is crazy, in my view this argument was an excuse for the Amazons to always stay in control and maintain power, but that didn't make sense either. The third problem, which in my view is serious, is that I am still trying to understand the cultural logic of this village and its inhabitants, I even made a comment I believe it was in chapter 15, that the way the dragon woman spoke and the that she told Zach when they met, the looks at Zach's clothing and the bathing utensil that the dragon woman used, it seemed to me that they believed that the war against the church was still going on, which would explain why the radicality of the actions of the Amazons, because they would still think that they are in enormous danger, however, this was undeveloped and yet obscured by the way dragons live and act in that place, it irritates reading it even.

Sett

I don't think your second question is subtle at all, in fact I believe it's the one of the main problems, these dragons are the opposite of the conclave dragons, I even wrote in my comment that I thought at first that maybe "they think they're still in war", but in the end they turned out to be dragon women from an irritating primitive and toxic society.

Direwolf1618

I feel like I should also add some of the positives that I have really enjoyed this book. I feel it was going really strong up until the dragon village really entered the scene. The whole interactions with Maeve, Poly, and Trina have been fantastic. Poly in particular has really emerged as a standout character. Trina is baby crazy and that’s it’s own sort of fun dynamic. Maeve coming to terms with her nature as a winter Fae Royal and her desire to be with Zach has been excellent. Her telling Ikta to piss off as she is so far out of her natural element, a winter Fae in a steaming hot jungle, but striding forward any ways for her family and future family, chefs kiss yea that’s why she is cover girl this book. I can not understate how much I love that. The quest to find Mab has been a good journey, and a lot of growth for the girls involved. I even liked the Ikta scene where she tricks him, that worked for me. Zach having a weakness to Nymphs and sex magic in general makes sense and is a nice touch. It’s not the big slavering monsters that want to destroy the world he needs to watch out for, it’s a hot tub full of Nymphs that he needs to run from. Something everyone was calling in universe (and in comment section) for awhile. I am also really enjoying seeing the Helena situation go, her quest for redemption and struggles with her awful upbringing and the actions she took. Yes she gives Zack a ton of crap and is a bit more abrasive to him but it works and she is clearly on a character arc journey.

Sett

I agree with Konrad, This Amazonian culture has become too radical, too toxic, too deep-rooted, and too one-sided. It seems that all the women in that place, without exception, treat men as useless or toys.

Drew Phillips

Nooooooo I wanna see him meet his mom!!!!

TygaBeast

From the sound of it, it's not actually his mom. The way it's unfolding, it sounds like it's the old jaded red that taught Poly, just calling herself Tiamat.

Direwolf1618

I’m not sure if it’s about being to extreme. It’s about us liking the society as a whole at the end of the book. Unless us disliking this large group of dragons is the goal, which I doubt. Take a look at say Drow most of the time. They tend to be pretty sadistic and matriarchal but we generally aren’t supposed to like them end of the day. Individuals sure but as a society no.

Direwolf1618

One of the challenges is that Regina as is probably would have worked fine very early on in the harem. But with a fully established harem with internal Hierarchies and nesting decisions already established it take a a bit more to slot into such a well oiled machine. Maeve is accomplishing that just fine but it could just have easily been a disaster on her end.

Direwolf1618

I was under the impression that they only fled to the wilds about 400 years ago during the crusade against paranormal. They have done a fantastic job of replenishing their numbers as a whole.

Direwolf1618

Everything we have seen so far is it’s 5-6 female to male on birth rate. So if there are way 500 female I would assume 80-100 males.

samuel schlatter

Take your time it shows us readers that you really care and are not just pumping out books.

Jamie R

Agreed. Mr. Sentar is an author who values the opinions of his readers. I get what he's trying to do with this tribe, but the balance between disliked and hated is off, which is what's making people feel uncomfortable. As with the balance between sealing "for the good of the tribe" VS "For dominance and control" I'll point out that whilst I was a bit uncomfortable with the situation it wasn't enough to stop me reading to see how he would resolve things. And apparently some of our wilder theories in the comments were better plots than he originally wrote. So maybe he might incorporate some of that as well?

RedShakle

Smuggled out definitely. Perhaps a power struggle occurred. If the original founder of the village was this red dragoness bitch, and Tiamat came to the village or was born there, there would probably be a power struggle. If Bart’s reincarnation was born there, but was sealed at birth in keeping with this idea, they wouldn’t know he was Bart’s reincarnation but Tiamat would still be drawn to him. They have a male baby, seal him up, and leave the village to hide him in the human world until the power struggle ends. They come back, years pass, Tiamat and Bart win the power struggle in the village, then try to get their child back only to fail as stated already.

GhostPhil

But how would Ares change her colors?

TygaBeast

I don't recall it saying that she did.
