Okay, glad you are all psyched about dungeon. That's going to be a fantastic way to kick off the new year. It'll get a spot in the rotation and keep on going.

Given the double chapters for 20 chapters of this one and then giving doubles for dragon at the end there, you guys are tight on my tail.

I'm on chapter 8 of SSV4, I loved seeing all of your suggestions, mostly because those were things I already wanted to do and I can now focus on them with a little more confidence. The only thing I do worry about is many of you want a lot of non Miles POV to see what's happening in Point City, you might get some, but I'm still hesitant to leave Miles for too long.

So onwards we go with SSV4.

Dragon I think we have 2 more books in it. SSV maybe 6ish. I think there's an endgame here that's coming hard and fast. I guess I could create another arc, but we'll see. Dungeon has an absolutely massive runway right now. We are level 3 with like level 60+ as a goal right now.

Though, I secretly want to try and write a series straight through at some point next year. Maybe if I finish Dragon and SSV this summer, I'll write a trilogy in three months. That High Fantasy one I did a two chapter teaser of would probably fit well into it or I could merge it with another idea. We'll see, ideas flit though my head at warp speed.

I just want to keep writing and get all of these ideas out of my head. (New ones come faster than I could ever write, but I'm not going to stop trying.)

All of that sounds good. Enjoying DJ so kind of sad to see it's only got 2 more books in your plan, but 6 more SSV? I like the sound of that. But Dungeon I think is going to have a good run of things!

David Hoerner

I think he meant 6 books in total for SSV. Not 6 more books.

I have no issue with some POV swaps here and there. The biggest issue with swaps I have is when we swap to bad guys or the thug thats about to die. Authors always wanna give em back stories and shit. I dont care about the bad guy that wont be relevant in 5 chapters. Lol.

I think for POVs you could do more of them, but maybe make them shorter. Depending on the situation of course. I personally have to say that I am very much liking your POV scenes because they give other characters more character. Actually something I want more in DJ, because there are so many characters now. I am listening to SSV 1 at the moment and I most certainly invested in it again. But I am still wondering what have happened, if Miles had outed himself to Kim super early. I can say that I am enjoying Dungeon a lot at the moment, but I am also someone that likes the beginning of a story a lot where everything is still new. So the fight with the Naga is more of an endgame thing then? I was wondering how fast we would get there. I had two theories, one where the leveling goes relatively fast and the Naga conflict is more the mid game and we have new Dungeon levels to explore after or The Naga conflict towards the end.

Id like a Kelly or Morgana or Scarlet chapter or even mini adventure series, lol.

GhostPhil

I think we want a mini chapter for every of the characters. But a Kelly and Morgana mini adventure sounds like fun!

I think your doing a great job. Have a great Christmas.

I will love to see you write from a mage pov in dragon justice set after everything. Maybe Frank's child.

You could do more Dragon books pushing the story into Asia/India/Africa, as the conflicts with the Church and Vampires has so far originated mostly in Europe, if the mood so takes you. We saw the one Chinese? Siren? business acquaintance but haven't heard about the rest of those paranormals. Potential there imo, but again the mood would need to take you.

I think for the POV thing, as someone said above, making them short could work. Like a brief snapshot into what's going on for them, a little bit of inner monologue, and then move on. If your chapter is, say, 12 pages long, then maybe covering 2-3 characters in said chapter would allow you to hit the POVs people wanted while still keeping mostly to Miles, which is obviously the right choice to make. Nothing worse than an author writing a whole book from the main char's POV, and then the next book you only get like 30% main char. But if you took like, 3-4 chapters out of 33 to look at other POVs, and then did 2-4 POVs per chapter, I think you might find a healthy middle ground like that. Or something. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, hope Plague doesn't wipe out your family.

Not a big fan of most POV shifts either - hopefully the whole book isn't Miles in this strange new place.

When there’s a single protagonist, the POV shifts (if included) should be kept to a minimum to maximize their impact. So having a 34 chapter story only relegate maybe about 4 of those for a single POV shift can help break up the story between its mini arcs, while providing a different perspective that the protagonist might not have. While they’re certainly lauded for their contributions to the genre, GRRM and Sanderson overuse them for my tastes, to the point that it negatively affected my reading experience with them! I think your writing style is great the way it is, but if Miles is to spend a majority of the time in the hidden city, it might be beneficial to consider a couple chapters from the perspective of the harem he left behind. Better to see firsthand how the city reacts to his absence, rather than receive it in an awkward exposition dump given to Miles later. But all that aside, what a year! It’s been fun reading through all these various adventures, and I look forward to the stories you’ll write in the future! Keep those ideas rolling!

So we getting chapters tomorrow? :D

Brian

Definitely appreciating Dungeon, but it's mostly because you are getting better as a writer and you started off doing well.
