I hope things are going well. This last book cycle has been a big one for me. Dungeon 102 was very fun. His grandparents and the relationships surrounding Ken were just amusing and bringing them forward this book was great fun.

Finding the dungeon itself to be a little repetitive, kind of like dungeons in video games. So the focus has been very much on his growth and both of his class and relationships.

Over all, it’s a good mix of character moments, comedy and action for me.

Book 3 will start with a little training with the grandparents between semesters and digging up a little more of Ken’s past.

But now, I’m onto SSV5. I’m planning to wrap up SSV with this book and everything seems to be going well.

I’m excited to turn Miles into what he was always supposed to be with this book.

Outside the writing things have gotten a little busier. I went through a process of finding my first employee this last month. It was a lot of work that’ll pay off in the long run. He’s onboard and working now, helping me keep some of the tasks in the background all worked out. He’s also discovering how much of that I’ve just put off because all I really want to do is write books.

But hey, I might get a website here soon, fix my newsletter and get my ebook and paperback book covers done at reasonable intervals. So, if you see some things starting to look different around here on Patreon or my other communication channels that’s the new guy and we are working to make things a little more professional.

I’m very thankful for all he’s done already even if it’s not forward facing stuff. There are a lot of things that go on in the back end of keeping everything running at a book a month.

As he gets more of this stuff off my shoulders it gives me more time to just focus on writing. Which is awesome.

More and more I want to dig in a little deeper and work on the craft of writing.

I have been reading lots of ‘how to write’ books that come well recommended by other successful indie writers and have a small community of writers that keep their focus on the craft of writing. I like that focus and the group had been uplifting.

Learning lots about writing, thankfully, I’m still strongly a discovery writer. But when I study these things and identify how they are used in other prominent works, I do start to incorporate those techniques and tools into my writing fairly naturally.

Compared to my older works, I feel Dungeon has a little more character depth as a result. I’m getting better at character motivation to make them consistent and give each character some purpose even if it’s just in my notes.

Anyway, things are chugging along and I’m just happy to keep tippity tapping on my keyboard and writing my stories.

Dungeon 102 was my 27th book. Three more and I’ll be at 30. Seems wild to me that I’ve written that much.

Going to keep chugging.

Audio is going to happen for everything, but I’m still behind and don’t see myself catching up in the near future. Some padding is always nice for making things work, but I might write a trilogy and hand that off to another narration team later this year to pull things in a little closer. We’ll see.

The manga has been running along in the background we are on chapter 6 and probably overdue to pushing that forward to kickstarter or however I’m going to spread it.

Let me know if I missed anything and if you guys have questions.

Cant wait for more from you. Always happy to read your works

Oh sweet! Ssv is a fun one, I was hoping I wouldn’t end up with early chapters for mana or the other one.

Can't wait to read the next SSV, but SUPER SAD to see it end. It's become one of my favorites.

I think one of your best writing decisions was making other povs specifically harem members or people of interest. It engaged us in another way that reading just from one pov can't do. My question is what's the plan for the rest of the year? Can we know what is coming since SSV is ending? Then isn't DJ ending in like 1-2 more books? Love your books so far so can't wait for more.

That's a really good question. I have some tentative plans for what comes next. I'm probably going to keep on track of Dragon 8 and Dungeon 103 after SSV5. So I have 2 months before I have to pick one. My biggest temptation is to go hard high fantasy fixed trilogy with four harem members over three books. I tentatively have that one outlined. Other options are the high fantasy with the super mage chained in the dungeon. But I also think he'd be a really fun sequel series as a villain in series one and then coming out into his own from his perspective for a second series. Then I have a scifi in my back pocket, and then I have several cultivation series in my tank. Though I lean towards a Cultivation with 1 main harem member and others come and go, but don't remain in the story long term.

DJ Johnson

I like your cultivation stories so far but is it cultivation if he only has 1 women but has flings with others?

Kconraw

Thx for all the hard work looking forward to all your future books 😁👍

Sinful Cyanide

I think you meant harem instead of cultivation with your comment, lol

Bruce_Sentar

Eh. When you look at Xianxia harem that's typically how it goes. The MC tends to out cultivate his harem and leave them behind with the promise to return. I don't want to do that entirely, but I do think there's something I could take from there and apply to western harem to keep romances on the horizon but not weigh down the story with too many members. We'll see what happens I have ideas, but until I write we never know.

DJ Johnson

Yea I typed that wrong lol but you get it!

DJ Johnson

Yea you are correct. But your better then that Bruce! But I do think focusing on few members is better kinda like what your doing in dungeon (for now at least ;P). I hope you choose cultivation regardless. You are a way better writer then when you wrote mana and dao. It would be interesting.

Bruce_Sentar

Yes, well. We'll see. My genre predictions is that Scifi, and space opera are going to make a comeback this fall/winter.

Iron Akela

Gotta admit, I’d love some sci-fi! Keen to see what you come up with for that. And keeping harems small(er) too!

New to the Patreon. Big fan of all your series but I will say that Dungeon is by far the best written. Really enjoying it.
