Ash, Hannah, that was a great reaction. A couple things. Samuel never slept with Susannah, and I believe Tristan always felt is was wrong to be with Susannah, he felt guilt over it and his brother and left her till he got himself right, since Alfred actually loved her he let them be. Sad story all around. But so epic and beautiful at the same time. Beautiful cinematography that won the Oscar over Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump on cinematography that year. Tristan as a youth cuts out the heart of the creature he hunts and sets its spirit free, according to a Native American belief. This is why he cuts out Samuel's heart, to set his spirit free, also to send it home. Great score by James Horner too, that music score is beautiful. I lost my brother not long ago, and we both loved this movie so this was very personal to share with you both. At the end I'm glad you both saw this as more of a story of forgiveness and family no matter what you have been through. Ash tell Hannah she got me teary eyed and I loved her reaction too. Means so much to me. She has brilliant takes and you both compliment eachother perfectly. And she has now named me Johnny boy lol Honestly, how epic was it that Tristan went full on Native American and went to war by himself and scalped a whole army lol Watching that as a teenager I never forgot that savagery. Too bad I never had a son bc I woulda named him Tristan, as many parents did when this film came out. Lol I love how you guys cheered in the end. When I saw this in theaters the entire theater cheered when they saw it was Alfred who saved the day. Great experience. Masterpiece film, I think you would agree upon a few more watches. Ash, did you notice with Tristans death he was wearing his father's bear coat? Symbolisms. The beginning of the film One Stab says every great warrior seeks a good death, so young Tristan went looking for his with that bear, as a child. The ending with the bear, talk about symbolisms... "It was a good death" ❤️ Director Edward Zwick is one of my fave directors (The Last Samurai, Legends of the Fall, Glory, Defiance)
