Great reaction to a great film! Scorsese saw New York to be as much of a character in this film as any of the people in it and he really pulls it off. A similar film in that sense that i'd recommend would be "Kids" from 1995. It follows a day in the life of a group of teens in New York during the AIDS epedemic. The kids in the movie weren't even real actors, just random kids that the director found around New York and some of them went on to have serious acting careers (Rosario Dawson, Chloe Sevigny etc). Fun fact: In the scene with Scorsese in the back of the cab, he had to sit on a pile of books because he was too short.

The movie end with a sad ending. Travis is dying and last scene is his last thoughts before he dead.

Hannah literally was telling that taxi driver the three things he needed to hear before shit went south hahaha

It's not Taxi Driver that Joker is most similar to; it's The King of Comedy.

I love this movie, it is a complete rollercoaster. Another great movie you guys should check out is Taken. You will not be disappointed 👍🏼

I think people forget what 1980s NY was like. The state prosecutor would absolutely overlook the case and not charge him for taking out the trash. Some things were better like that back then. And clearly, some other things were not.

I think you both talked over the part where it explained how her transition was not easy, the police got her back to her parents. And they took steps to ensure she didn't run off again. It was explained in the letter her parents wrote. Because Hanna is right, she likely would have just gone back to that life.
