Hi all!

As a little mid week piece of content, I thought it could be cool to do a reading of the bonus chapter from the las vegas scene!

Very eye opening about Ilya!

Please notice at the bottom a download link for the audio only file if you would prefer, and also the video is uploaded to youtube as an unlisted video due to Patreons heavy compression on 2k video files, so only you all with the link will see it.

Much love and more to come,

Sam

Well, a "compare and contrast" with the show will be... interesting. Thanks, Sam!

Oh, dear, I feel like the story didn't have your consent to read it! I laughed so many times. I'm on my fifth book of the set, not in order, out of six, and there is a LOT of sex in explicit detail. Makes the show look downright wholesome. Not that I truly mind; I read all heat levels. Honestly, I've read the Las Vegas Remix several times, but I feel like I didn't fully comprehend everything until I listened to you read it. Maybe because it was slowed down for me, and because I read Heated Rivalry a few days ago. My main take away: Ilya is terrified of the feelings he has for Shane.

We tried to warn you, Sam! The books are very...detailed.🤣🤣 I was laughing so hard at your facial expressions as the scene went on. Thank you--I am once again taking care of my sick mother, so I really needed a laugh!!

My Dinner with Hayden is hilarious, but also spicy at the end. But that's just another reason to have Sam read it!🤭

You reading this was more impactful than the two times I read it myself—it wasn’t in my head it was almost like it was filmed. You slowed down just in the right places. Have you checked these breakdown of scenes through the eye of a film maker. The Club Scene https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8nMUMta/

Loved this! Poor sweet summer child, we did tell you the books are spicy... It’s fun to rewatch Connor’s performance when he’s smoking at the end of ep. 2 immediately after re-listening to this bonus chapter. In the show just before Shane brings up Russia Connor wipes one eye and then also sniffles slightly a tad later, I’ve debated back and forth about whether I think that acting choice was just rubbing his eye or if it was meant to be wiping away the beginnings of a tear before it could fully well up

Curious to know if it takes place after HR, would the story contain any spoilers that may appear in season 2 of the show for someone wanting to see the story play out on Crave before reading? Just asking as I'm someone who hasn't read the books or short stories.

Almostclever

I love Valentina Vee! Great suggestion. She has several videos re: the cinematography and filmmaking aspects of Heated Rivalry that I think Sam might enjoy.

Thomas Pileggi

Wow. I haven't read any of the books yet, but that was amazing. It really gave so much needed information. Your reading of it was so good, so intimate. Thanks for that.

Season 1 stopped at the end of the HR book but before the epilogue, and while I haven't read the books yet I have read the epilogue and the "My Dinner With Hayden" story. I originally heard that Jacob would be starting Season 2 with the epilogue but that may have changed. I happily tell people to read the Las Vegas Remix as I don't think it has any spoilers (just a different POV) but I can't say the same for the others. My Dinner With Hayden is set after Season 1, actually 16 months after the show and 3 weeks before the epilogue so there are definitely some references to things that occurred after Season 1. I can see some of the things referenced actually being shown in Season 2 so if you want to remain completely spoiler free I would say don't read it. Good luck avoiding all spoilers, I unfortunately have seen far too many comments and videos about the other books even though I tried not too ☹️.

jo

yes it does a little bit, it’s not immediately after HR ends. It’s treated differently because it’s a separate bit of writing apart from the books but if you want to avoid spoilers, maybe skip it.

jo

@22:59 😂 my friend, I tried to warn you during the live the other night; I said to you as an example, like exactly what specifically Shane was doing 😭

jo

you progressively whispering quieter is so funny 😅

hoffy

Hey Sam, I love how you are mixing things up on your channel. I loved the read, but could you speak louder...even with my speakers on full volume, it's hard to hear you.

Nat from Oz

Lol that was so good,I didnt know i could laugh so hard at such an intimate scene.Love your content.

KnucklesMustache

Yes, the whispering was (charmingly) hilarious

Chris

I like to think Ilya was wiping away a tear, considering how the night had gone and that look he gives Shane before he wipes his eye. It makes sense. Then again, he also rubs his eye just after he sends that woman on her way in the club at the beginning of #4.

Chris

I am impressed that you kept going once you realized how spicy it would get. You did a great job. I'd read the story before and, like others have said, you kind of gave it a new dimension or feeling. Well done.

Sam Ham

oh no way thanks for saying that! im glad you enjoyed :)

Sam Ham

Thanks Nat ! Glad you enjoyed :)

Sam Ham

Sam Ham

Sam Ham

oh thanks for commenting and saying that Thomas! Glad you liked it :)

Sam Ham

hahah what a way to say that Pam! Ya I had the same take away, hes terrified and not nearly as confident as he portrays

Sam Ham

incredibly detailed haha im so satisfied that you were able to get a little break with this. thinking of your mother and sending you all the best wishes <3

Sam Ham

Glad to hear that John! and thanks for that link im gonna dive into it!

Sam Ham

Ya so truem he was in his escape and Shane brought him straight back to reality unfortuantely

I loved the way you read this, you narrate it way better then the narrators of the HR audiobook! Wouldn’t mind you replacing him. I cackled at the horrified whispering of the sex scene, it’s like you were embarrassed from yourself! Also, don’t be afraid of the explicit scenes in the book. Just like in the show, yes, they are meant to titillate, but they also show Shane and Ilya’s perspectives of getting to know each other and the feelings that develop.

Arranit Malushaj

No spoilers, I promise, but... MAN, we're all in for some crying in season 2. Dammit Rachel.
