Probably a few more days for the next chapter. Haven’t had a ton of time with two jumps this week.

I’ll pose a question for yall though. The length of book 3 is turning to be a bit unrealistic for a paperback.

I’m thinking of cutting it in half and expanding some sections. I’ve had an idea to write a pov from a normal soldier as he appears at the Landing and as it expands that I would include. That way we still get a full book 3 and book 4 would then be when Harold goes north.

You know what I think would have been the best end point for book 3... Harold meeting his demon horse. That was a great chapter and it ended on such joy after the nail shenanigans.

Without knowing what the soldier's viewpoint would add narratively, it's a little hard to say. Could be interesting and it's also possible that more mundane day-to-day stuff could feel like filler. I'd personally be interested in having the camera range further afield and show more of the world. I seem to remember that there's a handful of high-performing operatives heading towards Landing? Following a competent individual ranging through the wilderness could be interesting. Or any of the groups heading towards Landing, really.

Ah yea that could be interesting. There are two still headed that way that I could include. The soldiers POV would be more like a POV of basic training followed by some combat and the march north and expand how the soldiers are trained and show more of how the Basin is developed and secured. Could do both though really.
