Released September 2022

Hey there Friends and Gentle Beings,

Welcome to September!  Fall is in the air, leaves are falling, things are starting to get spoopy, and the first few Transylvanians of the season are starting to emerge from their burrows, ready to shout obscenities at a nearly 50-year-old movie.

Recent Show Update:

We have been BUSY in the last month, enjoying the last of the summer in outdoor performances, sweating through indoor performances in business attire, and getting ready for the upcoming season.

Rocky Horror Hosting

I am personally always ready to shout obscenities, and this past weekend was no exception: It was our first Rocky Horror of the Season! With a pretty full house, we hosted to a super enthusiastic audience, devirginized about 15 (less) enthusiastic virgins, and sacrificed the best among them, to the Rocky Gods.

Rocky Horror is the best time, and if you haven’t been to see the show live, you really should. Bonus points if it has the full shadow cast – like we will, in late October at the Rio. (Dates tbd).

Office Burlesque

The Showgirls of Dunder Mifflin was a fantastic success! We had a very full house, and a lot of super enthusiastic Office fans. We had some new Geekenders join our stage: Charlotte Strudel, playing Phyllis; and the Nerdlesque for Newbies class, as Angela’s cats, in one of the weirdest group Burlesque numbers I have ever witnessed. If you missed the live show, I hope the video does it justice.

Here’s a fun behind the scenes story for you – our Michael Scott, Rage Against the Pusheen, had never done burlesque before. He’d hosted the trivia for Too Hoth, and been involved in some of our other, non-burlesque stuff, but had never personally stripped or done any burlesque before.

Now, on the day of our dress rehearsal, I was over at our costumer Shayan’s house (he made some phenomenal pieces for the show). I mentioned in passing that Rage Against the Pusheen was only stripping to his boxers, and we were trying to figure out a final reveal for him.  Hearing this – and with less than 10 minutes before I needed to leave for rehearsal - Shayan proceeded to start throwing fabric and patterns on the floor, and then frantically whipped up a teeny-tiny, show-ready thong, complete with gold trim, in under 5 minutes. “There” he said, “Michael can wear this…” And, like an absolute pro, he did.

Fruit Beer Fest

These shows were so much fun! The event producer really went out of his way to put together a fantastic event, where everyone felt safe, supported, and welcomed.

This was probably one of the biggest audiences we’ve had – spread out through the field, there were probably a few thousand people watching, mingling, and enjoying the day.

They are planning on doing it again next year, and we hope to be a part of it!

Look how cute we are:

Upcoming Shows

Pokémon-A-Go-Go (On Tour)

Coming up real soon in Victoria BC! Friday, September 23rd, as part of the Capital City Comic Con! With some new numbers, and previously unrecorded numbers, this is a super fun show, that we think you’ll enjoy a lot.

Tickets to our show are available here.

Hoppy Horror Beer Show

Friday, October 21, 2022 @ 7:00 pm – 10:30 pm at the Croatian Cultural Center!

We’ll be putting on a monstrous good time… Doing Burlesque and Go Go with an (un-a)Live 60’s/Surf Rock band- as classic Hollywood Horror characters, with a fun retro twist. It’ll be groovy and spooky, baby!

Tickets available here, (Get them before October 3rd for an Early Bird Discount)

Rocky Horror

Rockytober is always a great time – whether we are just hosting the show or doing the entire shadow cast, Rocky Horror is an October Classic. We’ll announce tickets and dates when we can!

Other Patreon Things:

Once I actually edit the Geek Gabs, they will be released into the world! We had some audio issues with the first one, so rest assured, they will get better!

Unannounced Stuff In the Works:

We’ve got A Studio Ghibli show in the works, planned likely for November:
Kinky’s Delivery Service. Date/venue etc. tbd.

10 Year Anniversary Bash! We’ve been doing this for 10 YEARS. We don’t have anything exciting planned yet, but we SHOULD!

As always, we have lots of stuff percolating. Personally, I’ve been ruminating on a Monty Python Revival… or a Muppet Burlesque? How have we never done one of those? Maybe we will, friends, maybe we will….

Bonus: More Important Cat Content

I promise these won’t all be about my cat, but this one is important: My cat had a birthday. So I threw him a party.

Several Geekenders were in attendance to mark this momentous occasion. Balloons were inflated, banners were hung, cat toys were gifted, cupcakes were eaten, and the cat stayed firmly hidden under the bed the entire time.

So once everyone left I pulled him out and made him do a photo shoot. Lookit this birthday boy:

See? Super important.

That’s all for now folks!
