For absolute transparency, a few users had brought to my attention that there was a large amount of suspicious flags when scanning the latest .exe using VirusTotal (online threat scanner). I have since recompiled the .exe using a module called Nuitka and had to rebuild the compiler from scratch to ensure consistency within my dev environment. The numbers were in the mid-20's on the last release for potential threats found. I have since recompiled the same .exe and the threat flags have been reduced to between 6 and 7 (there is a slight variance even through VirusTotal when the file is rescanned).
You can find the full report here:https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/ba9fbb43c3c7db33c6e5e499c2e2808f2b8eafff03a67fd81041d444baf63fd2/detailsShort of me purchasing a cost-prohibitive codesign cert, I think I may pursue the path of submitting my binaries to the companies that have still flagged my software as malicious to hopefully get an exemption in their heuristics moving forward.
Thank you as always for your support and understanding as I strive to become a better software developer!
PS: Apparently this isn't uncommon for other devs using pyinstaller or Nuitka:https://stackoverflow.com/questions/43777106/program-made-with-pyinstaller-now-seen-as-a-trojan-horse-by-avghttps://stackoverflow.com/questions/64788656/exe-file-made-with-pyinstaller-being-reported-as-a-virus-threat-by-windows-defen
