In a year chockful of layoffs and studio closures, we needed a W like this. What was originally considered one of the biggest losses amidst these changes was Xbox's closure of Tango Gameworks. Originally known for survival horror titles, Tango stormed out the gate last year with the beloved action rhythm game, Hi Fi Rush, to critical acclaim. Krafton seems to have liked the numbers they saw because they've stepped in to take Tango and the Hi Fi Rush IP off Xbox's hands. While The Evil Within and Ghostwire Tokyo remain in the hands of Xbox, the people's champion lives to fight another day. Naturally, the Dukes have plenty of thoughts. It's still a loss of talent for Xbox at the end of the day, so is there more to a partnership here? What happens to the lingering IP from Tango? We dive into the jaw dropping news and an otherwise slower news week.Timestamps: 0:00:00 Introduction

Good luck to Jake. Stay strong brother 🙌 Also Dumbbell’s at home go a very long way. Look up Tiff and Dan on YouTube. They release free videos and they have really great workouts available on that channel. I’m gonna put my program in the Duke discord. I’ve been steady exercising at home for 22 months and went from 173 to 195 and sometimes over 200 depending on how I eat. I got sick of being 6,1 and super skinny. The results are pretty incredible and I feel better than ever have in my life. I’m pushing the 2 million pounds lifted mark by next week. Seeing the progress motivates me. It’s become part of my life now. I encourage everyone to take care of yourselves. Life comes fast and we need to live it to the fullest. Blessings to all 👍 #HifiDD

We just had the story on Sacred last week about how horrible this publisher was for the Callisto Protocol, hope this works out.

Shout out to Jake 🤘 I recommend getting an app that tracks your days and rewards you with things when you hit milestones. I used the Smoke Free app to quit smoking almost 6 years ago. Being a trophy hunter I turned it into a game, always needing the next milestone badge it would have waiting for me. The only two left are 10 and 20 years off. I know there’s a sober app specifically for drinking, and I’m sure a few others. I’ve used them myself periodically as I also have a tendency to over drink. Last year I took a whole year off the booze and I have two main things that helped me. I dived headfirst into my gaming backlog and I bought a rowing machine. Even 5km a day will make a difference. Best of luck, brother! Reach out on IG if you want to talk - vivalabarnes

Love the podcast but I have one little niggle everytime when Matty says that ABK rakes in so much cash. The revenue cannot be seen without having to pay of the 70 billion receipt. With the current ABK profit stream (which in no way is guaranteed for the future) it takes up to 12 years before MS starts making money on the investment. Adding to that I have no idea how they financed the deal. If they did it with their own capital then thats that, but if they financed it with loans you also have to account the interest. MS finance a lot of deals with loans (they have 61 billion in debt). Thats is perfectly fine btw. Having said all of that: keep up the great work!

Is anyone else cringing when Krafton is pronounced Kraftawn? Straight outta Comptawn is all I can think about.. haha

Did Cog say “kudos to Microsoft” in regards to selling off Tango instead of closing them down? It still feels weird to me to celebrate Microsoft at all in this scenario. I thought the whole point of Microsoft buying ABK was to get Activision to finally start making games that aren’t Call of Duty and to give these studios some financial security. Selling off Toys for Bob and Tango somehow doesn’t match what I thought the point of this acquisition was. Obviously this is better than Microsoft just closing the studio down, but it feels more like Microsoft just tried to scramble to get some money out of the remains of the studio than it feels like Microsoft did something for the benefit of the studio here. EDIT: That was incredibly negative and for that I apologize. I don’t like just being negative, so I will say that I do love listening to you Cog. You have a very articulate way of expressing your opinions that I really appreciate, and I especially appreciate that even when I don’t agree with your opinions because you do really good about keeping emotion out of your discussion so your thoughts can remain clear. Keep being awesome.

I feel like I’ve seen random food ads on my Series X before. Didn’t they even let you order pizza from the console before? I remember they had food gift cards you could redeem with the points too. 😅 #HiFiDD

Do Xbox/MS still own all the IP? Ghostwire Tokyo, Hi-Fi Rush, Evil Within, etc?
