Much has been said about Xbox's lack of desire to do a mid-generation refresh. For some, it symbolizes the platform's lack of care for the future of its own hardware and, for others, a sign that the green team has their eyes on the next generation instead. In a surprise move, it is not Xbox who stepped on the rake this week! PlayStation has sneakily experienced a troublesome year much like Xbox between Concord, the rollercoaster ride that is Helldivers 2, and now the pricing of the PlayStation 5 pro. Of all our write-ins this week, 90% were asking one question: Did Xbox dodge a bullet by not going down this hardware rabbit hole? To your own point cog the digital foundry guys also noted that showing video comparisons via YouTube stream bit rate wasn’t a great way to showcase the bigger difference between base and pro. I think final fantasy rebirth or 16 would show significantly better resolution and frames.

It’s too early to write the Ps5 Pro off. Let’s see digital foundry get ahold of it and run some tests before we just say it’s terrible.

A disk drive ps5 at launch 11/20 was $500 which is $600 today adjusted for inflation. The pro plus a separate disk drive is 780. So the difference is 180. A 1tb m.2 is anywhere from 50-100 dollars on Amazon. So the pro upgrade is actually ~$100 in real dollar

Boys I’m fully on board which the price of the PS5 Pro in real dollars being extremely expensive…but I think it’s a bit silly to be getting so outraged. When you break it down and compare the price with the new 2TB Series X ($599USD including a disc drive). The PS5 Pro would cost you $779USD (console + disco drive). That’s a $180 price difference for a tech upgrade which I don’t think is out for the realm of reason. Some more critical thought would be appreciated, by all accounts tell us how you feel from a personal point of view, but balance it with some critical thoughts.

I’m coppin the PS5 Pro Day 1. Definitely had an amazing time meeting you all in San Diego. Matty I had no clue you were 6’3” Cog you’re as cool in person as you are online. Met Rick for the first time and it was awesome seeing him. Micah and Colin are the sweetest people. Jaffe is hilarious 🤣 and it inspired me to play GOW for the first time.

How on earth is cog dissing the pro reveal when he bought the improved battery Asus Rog ally at £800, after already having the OG. Love you cog but cmon man. The pro is way more of an upgrade over it's predecessor than the Rog ally extreme, yet you praised the Rog ally and hammering the pro. Mental gymnastics at work bro

Hearing Matty saying that Playstation has a pretty bad year is insane. Stellar Blade, Ronin, Helldivers 2, Rebirth, Last of us part 2 remastered, Astro, Silent Hill 2, Lego Horizon. Concord is absolutely a total failure. But people see this and it's like they're happy as fuck and saying playstation sucks this year. LMFAO, WTF is going on? I really don't get it...

Just finished the show today. I understand the title is meant to attract views, but it’s an oxymoron so it reflects poorly on how great you guys are as analysts. By that I mean of course they didn’t dodge a bullet, because they don’t have a consumer base who would buy an Xbox Series X Pro model by the millions like Sony. That’s it, that is why they’re not doing one. And the rebuttal may be: “Hugh, they’re doing a console refresh in 2026 and a handheld; They didn’t need to!” Sure, but that doesn’t change the fact an Xbox Pro would be destined to fail. PS5 Pro is going to sell millions of units, meanwhile the only time I see the $600 Series X with 2 TB storage mentioned is as the butt of a joke. I have a Series X and love it, so no fan boy crap here. Big fan, keep it up.
