Milk It For All It's Worth | Sacred Symbols, Episode 330

It's now obvious that Sony shouldn't have purchased Bungie back in 2022, but considering the transaction did indeed occur, both parties have to make the best out of a less-than-promising situation. After instituting a significant reduction in headcount, poaching key employees for posts within PlayStation proper, and even swiping an entire team and drafting it into PlayStation Studios, Sony has made another play, ingesting Bungie's Creative Studios to help shepherd the wider brand's future service games. How will this entire ordeal play out in the end? We're years away from finding out, but that doesn't stop us from speculating. Plus: Spider-Man 2 is getting a Nixxes-led PC port in early '25, Amazon Prime's God of War project receives a massive personnel overhaul, a recent interview with Guerrilla has some fans longing for more Killzone, and more. We wrap things up (as always) with listener inquiries. Have we reached a dead end with game design? Are 60 frames plenty, or should we ultimately strive for 120? How might Sony celebrate PlayStation 2's 25th anniversary next year? Are we able to convince a skeptical fan that -- yes, indeed! -- 'tchotchke' is a real word? Follow the hosts! Dustin is right Attack On Titan deals with themes and topics later on that Colin loves in fiction and it just gets better with each season

I forgot Barry's game is right around the corner. Probably best then to ignore "8-Bit Adventures 2", as I think Barry is going for a similar vibe. Cheers!

Colin, You should absolutely finish Attack on Titan, it’s one of the best anime of all time and one of the best stories in fiction of the last 10 yrs. Calling it just an anime does it some disservice a little bit. It’s topped Breaking Bad as my favorite show of all time. It’s phenomenal. Watch it. Dont keep saying “eh I’ll get around to it.” It’s must watch television as far as I’m concerned. Don’t look anything up, there are mind blowing twists and turns and you will absolutely get spoiled if not careful. It’s one of those shows where I wish I could erase my memories and watch it all over again for the first time. Trust, it’s that good and it’s right up your alley.

I just want a remaster of Killzone 1-3 I didn't like Shadow Fall

I guess I'm the opposite on this. I absolutely loved the first season, and then started reading the manga because they hadn't made any other seasons yet and I never read manga. But the further they got from the original concept, the more I disliked it and eventually I just stopped.

Tchotchke-gate

I totally understand why someone would prefer console over pc, but the driver aspect of the argument makes zero sense. You literally just open GeForce experience and click download. It's no more difficult than updating the ps5 firmware

Regarding public officials being gamers. I think AOC played games at one point.

Here in Canada certain digital games are more expensive specifically Japanese games. 89.99 is the standard price but Metaphor for example is 93.49. WTF?

Tyler Kottmyer

I used to be a Colin type guide guy for Atlas games, but metaphor did some cool things that broke me out of that. I wonder how they'll feel about that 7 years from now when they get to the spoilercast

I rawdogged the original Persona 5 and followed a guide for P5: The Royal and it felt like I played the original game the wrong way, I missed loads of interactions, social link bonuses and moves because I misunderstood how to maximise my time. It’s not an ideal way to first time experience a game but if you want to see everything the game has to offer I understand playing it this way.

Walker Simmons

Eliminating the exploration and roleplaying choice aspect of metaphor sounds lame to me but who cares how other people play as long as they don't ruin the game for themselves then critique it

I found Colin's comment about the US being the country with highest per capita users of physical games due to "per capita income" pretty strange, and was happy to hear Dustin interject about the difference in physical Vs digital pricing in Japan, to give another perspective Tbh I'd no idea there was this idea that digital games were cheaper in the US. In Ireland you'll basically always get a game cheaper if you buy it physically - 1st party games here are €80 and most others are €70 unless they're smaller scale, but I'd almost always be able to get them at least €10 cheaper if I was to buy physical. I get the vast majority of my games digital nowadays, but the odd time I'll get a game if it's a physical copy I'd like to own

About Game Guides - Was thinking, does guides existing actually allow devs to make more complicated and more interesting games?

Gooch Gobbler

If they are well designed, I don't think a guide would be needed. I guess it depends on the devs goals

I cannot wait how Colin, as a deep politics-like person, will enjoy what the story is about after the main plot shows itself. He said he played only a few hours, so he didn't get to the big stone in the sky part. Looking forward to next episodes :)

regarding console reservations, i reserved the og xbox for launch day at kaybee toys, and they required a 3 game extra controller bundle. i actually ended up buying 7 games that day, and 3 extra controllers, and the dvd remote, all told i dropped like $1100-$1200 that morning, all cash. it's wild to think how much a part time min. wage fast food job could afford you in 2001.

120fps is the perfect sweet spot for me, after experiencing it I tend to find it bothersome when playing anything with lower than 90fps. If I play only 60fps games for a while I reacclimatize to it, but when jumping back to 120fps+ the choppiness of 60fps becomes quite noticeable. That said, 60fps should really be the baseline for video games, anything lower is just awful and can really hurt the experience from both a visual and gameplay perspective
