Geoff Keighley's 'The Game Awards' festivities didn't disappoint this year. Quite the contrary, it was arguably the single strongest showing of new game announcements the industry has seen in seemingly forever, and it was capped-off with what many of us have long awaited: Naughty Dog's new game. For the first time since 2005's Jak X: Combat Racing on PlayStation 2, Sony's crown jewel studio is readying a product that's aligned neither with Uncharted nor The Last of Us. It's called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, it's about a spacefaring bounty hunter and a mysterious alien planet, and it's coming to PlayStation 5 at an undetermined point in the future. Naturally, we have much to discuss. Other TGA announcements of note include a surprise update for Helldivers 2, Capcom reveals in the form of new games in the Onimusha and Okami series, a brand new multiplayer Elden Ring spin-off called Nightreign, our first look at Borderlands 4 and The Witcher IV, the long-awaited revival of the Turok IP, the first new 2D Ninja Gaiden in more than three decades, and much more. And there's a regular ol' episode of Sacred Symbols underneath all of that, too, focused on the purported leak of Bend Studio's new game, the death of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a serious lawsuit filed against Bungie by a fired executive, final word on long-defunct vaporware PS4 project Wild, and more. We wrap things up with listener inquiries on topics like rumors of an upcoming Steam console, parasocial relationships in the creator space, the ability of dialogue to ruin a perfectly good user experience, and a conundrum surrounding perpetual hiccups and $100 million.Timestamps:

What on earth was that Colin rant on Indy, the show absolutely does not need to run commentary on every stupid thing somebody tweets. Serves to only stoke the flames of people who making money from smoke. Also anyone hurling insults at the new Naughty Dog game - you are incredibly naive and will feel silly in a few years. Terrible name though.

Intergalactic doesn't look good at all to me

Thank you Colin for continuing to talk about the Chris Avellone situation. That man may never work in games again even though everything levied against him was retracted and he got a public apology. The MeToo movement has emboldened good and bad actors to come forward with the opinion that everyone will believe a woman. The under reports of Chris avellone winning his lawsuit and receiving a public apology just pulled the curtain back and showed these outlets don’t care about the truth, they only care about the story. They all have an agenda

I have been shaving my head every week for about two years now, and I use the buzzer the same way as the Intergalactic trailer. Maybe I’m still a noob, but it just made sense to me. I’ll try the other way next time and see the difference.

Big titty drinker

Y’all cried about naughty dog not doing anything new IP wise for years and now that you finally get it it’s too generic and not good enough before you even play it??? lol y’all are just made the main character is a chick and looks gay , tbh I think Neil does this shit on purpose just to fuck with y’all 😂 and I love it

Tyler Cumerford

Let's not excuse intergalactic for looking like a guardians of the galaxy clone just bc it's naughty dog. No more retro Sci fi 😭 it's the new zombies lol

NeO JD

Raiders is the best Indy movie to me but I’d say they’re all overrated. 😅

Why would you turn down the $100m for the hiccups? Doubling the time between hiccups means you only have to hiccup 26 times in 60 years, with the time between the last 2 hiccups being 30 years. That money is the easiest take I've ever heard.

I don't care what any of the little chud babies are complaining about INTERGALACTIC looks sick as fuck. A cowboy bebop inspired game, finally someone good shit, no more dudes with double his body size swords, no more obvious pedophile bait RPGs.

Look Up 2:27 of Delusions of Grandeur - Glazed Donut Zero (Official Video)

What’s the real core of the hate on Intergalactic? The main character isn’t hot enough for some guys? How fragile must you be for that to upset you? No one is demanding you fuck this fictional character. And for that matter, do all women who fall outside your preferences offend you? I like her, but I’m kind of a gooner in general and love how all sorts of women look.

Metaphor’s art direction, specifically the Heironymus Bosch inspired enemy design, makes it the clear standout nominee for the category.

Cole Barker

I am just so tired of everything being some androgynous woman.

Mysterious Narrator

Amaterasu "the dog/wolf" identifies as a female not a boy as Dustin and Colin ramble about.

Vanzant

The take on Naughty Dogs game feels biased. If this was any other company I feel these guys would be ripping the Guardians trope. Having faith because it NG for sure but to act like this trailer is somehow cooler then the past marvel rip offs doesn’t feel right.

Seth

Intergalactic looks god awful to me. Apologies to anybody who thinks that this game will be good. I have no hopes. I can't get over this girlboss shit. The main character is obviously a complete douchebag who doesn't take anything seriously because she is just "too good". Why is there so many of these activists larping as artists and writers? And why are we allowing them to ruin all of our society's art? The games graphics looks phenomenal, shoutout to the nerds working in the background, but the art direction is completely lame corporate drivel (Product placements everywhere). Unoffensive everything. It's sad because I love Last of Us Part 1 so much but they lost track of human stories and started telling corporate ones. Good Job Druck

The white lights is an Italian thing. Paris nicely with the plastic couch coverings that you aren’t even aloud to sit on.

Every time Chris uses the word ubiquitous I’m reminded of the hit song Feel My Ubiquity by The Jesus Twins.

Dante B

I’m a little surprised at Colin’s surprise around AstroBot’s win. Couldn’t believe it was written off in prior shows too. It’s a developer darling, made extremely lean with a small studio, meta score through the roof (which in this case does mean something since the people responsible for the meta represent a good portion of voters) and is just the most fun game to play. I agree with Chris, the right game won for sure.

Directional Joy

Michel Ancel is a game creator that I have always held in high regard, being able to take the nostalgia of my youth (2D platformers & early 3D Zelda) and evolve it while making it unique (Rayman Origins + Legends & Beyond Good & Evil). The Ubisoft work environment has certainly been put under a spotlight. I hope the best for those negatively affected… but, like me still listening to Michael Jackson/Jackson 5, I think my mind will prioritize talent over decency (unless it is egregious).

Colin thinks the best-reviewed game this year winning GOTY was "preposterous." .....wut

Theotokos Respecter

Imma wait till I see some real deal gameplay because Last of Us II’s gameplay is 10/10. But that trailer was straight up, shit from a butt. Outside of the graphics, it couldn’t be less interesting. Fingers crossed they just nail the gameplay

John

I think Intergalactic looks fine, but the reveal doesn’t give me confidence. This is Naughty Dog’s 1st reveal trailer for a new IP in 13 years, and this felt underwhelming. Without Naughty Dog’s name, no one would be looking at this. We can hope for the best. I’m assuming it’s a 2027 Summer release based on history. I’m intrigued to know more, but it’s not a game I’m currently excited for.

Nghtseye

Intergalactic is probably one of the least interesting trailers I’ve seen for a game. Anyone remember AC Brotherhood & Bioshock Infinte’s trailers? Naughty Dog could take notes

Matt Wiles

Intergalactic……. Stunning! Can not wait to see more.

Peter Balda

I was seriously hoping for ND's new game to be (dark) fantasy, so I was kinda disappointed since the whole sci-fi/futuristic aesthetic seems to be over saturated these days. I'm still looking forward to it because ND has never disappointed me and the gameplay is always fire. They kind of brought the backlash on themselves though, did they really expect people were going to go crazy over a trailer that for 90% consisted of an edgy conversation with a girlboss? I'm pretty sure the conversation around it would be wholly different if they showed us a few glimpses of the world and some action sequences other than the 3 seconds we got. It reminded me of that initial Concord trailer of that burger on a spaceship. Have devs really become so arrogant to think that we become super excited for a game even though we have no idea what the gameplay is going to look like?

Jack Johnson

Was really disappointed by the Intergalactic trailer. It was incredibly done that, been there. When I saw the CDs my eyes rolled out of my head.

Del Griffith

This comment section feels like I’m on IGN. Gross.

Sucking Duck for Quack

Really think Last Stand needs to buckle down on the comments sections of these podcasts. Look at the comments under Defining Duke on here and compare. The majority of these comments here are talking about “girl boss” bullshit. Makes this community feel super divided and hostile. Like most of the people just want to shit on everything.

Matt Wiles

Only nerdy boys who can’t pull hot chicks get all angry about pixels…such as the character of a game.

Colin, I am 100% convinced at this stage that your “astro bot doesn’t deserve to win GOTY take” is to try and make yourself come across as being unbiased in GOTY, to say it’s a weak win and slightly biased towards Sony is so disrespectful to Team Asobi. Final Fantasy Rebirth is 100% the most powerful, moving, majestic game I have played in a long time, made me feel things I haven’t felt since playing The Last of Us for the first time. Astro Bot is without a doubt one of the finest, most enjoyable games I have played in years, that game is borderline perfection, from music to gameplay to nostalgia, it is just epic. I can’t understand why you don’t think it’s a worthy winner?

Save The Game Media

Dustin - as long as your profile is the primary, all you have to do is start the download and secondary accounts can access the Premium/Extra games. My brother and I game share on PS5 and it works this way on his PS5 (starts the download on my account and then plays on his)

Ahlickaloo

Naughty Dog is so confident in their new ip that they disabled comments on the trailer. The normal man is not clambering out of his seat to play as a space woman with a shaved head

John Baptist

14 minutes in and still talking about poop.

Ryan

Colin what did you think about the real game awards?

Hunter Flaherty

To be honest. We are still judging a book by its cover cause chris is the most brainwashed lunatic regular on this channel. Hes only shadowed by jaffe. So really i still think its gonna be a woke fucking mess… also i feel colin geared us up with that so that he could fellate naughty dogs vga outing. Its getting kinda gross

Dick Stillhard

Culture goes in waves. 40,50,60s had a lot of what would be considered “demonic” content but the backlash to such didn’t come then, it came at its peak in the 80s when EVERYTHING was surrounded by heavy metal, demonic imagery etc. This equivalent to “woke” and its backlash. This is why theres countless examples of “if this were made today it would be called woke” Its just a massive over correction. The good news is there’s usually a happy medium at the end

Cornelius

The psn hour count issue doesn't have anything to do with having two consoles, because I have one console and it's still fucked, it's I think basically double the actual playtime

Kevin Cooper

As soon as I saw the word "Endure" in the quotation at the beginning of the trailer, I knew it was ND's rumored sci-fi game.

Jewelbox

Just went back and listened to Colin's chat about Everybody's Gone To The Rapture and Walking Sims after it came up in the wrap up. Addressing past Colin here but there are plenty more than just 10 or so must play walking sims, it's just a very very PC centric genre, and perhaps one of the most popular genres in indie circles given the comparably low barrier for entry to make them and the generally small/free price tag. Games like Anatomy, Beginners Guide, INFRA, BABBDI and the CosmoD games are among my favourite games of the last decade or so.

Bob Sacamano

Colin and Micah should do overcooked let’s plays

SirJoseph_iv

It’s not only that you play as a woman. We all knew it was gonna be Ciri going forward. The bad part is that they made his lips and cheeks 3 times the size as in Witcher 3.

MISZCZOGRZMOT

Not only is the intergalactic girl holding the buzzer upside down, she's not washing her head afterwards, too. She'd be red and itchy all over without rinsing everything off. Not realistic at all, immediate turn-off

Seamndel

Did Colin mean Jurassic: The Hunted?

Adam Barnes

Here’s a hot take - Would smash Jordan A. Mun 🤷‍♂️ I like ‘em with a bit of attitude

Arian Yee

Email from PlayStation says stats are updated each time you launch the wrap up. I can confirm this as my playtime increased by 20+hrs

Born-Blind

You can get tri breaker and twin breaker for a measly $11 on steam right now. Two for the price of one folks! Get it for your steam deck now!

Born-Blind

Alan Wake 2 was a pleasant surprise for me. Picked it up in a whim a couple weeks ago and I was really surprised at the production value and heart that went into this game. Sure there are some design flaws here and there but the pieces that work (when they work) are really fun.
