I’m so happy Gene finally finished P5. I’m at the endgame of Metaphor and, while it’s a great game, the story doesn’t come anywhere close to Persona 5’s. The hate on Yusuke and Ryuji hurts though lol Also, congrats to Brad for hitting a year with Last Stand! I followed you here from EZA and I’m so happy I became a patron. So much content and differing opinions on all things gaming keeps me coming back. Here’s to many more years Brad!

My grandma who passed away in December of 2023 made all my Christmas memories. She got me my Super Nintendo. In 1999 she drove around to 20 stores in Brooklyn to buy me Wrestlemania 2000 and she even paid 100 bucks as a supply and demand price for it. She also got me my Wii with Twilight princess. That was another time she drove me to 20 stores and we finally found a Wii on launch day at a Kmart. She spoiled me and i miss her dearly. I will always remember how she made my Christmas special.

Last year I replayed Final Fantasy IX for the n'th time on a whim right within the Christmas window. It was spurred on by my purchase of Final Bar Line which had been on sale for Black Friday weeks prior. The vibes were right, playing FF9 during the holidays.

Ethan Barcelos, if poe2 is your first arpg then I would wait for it to go free to play before you jump in. It may be a little bit complicated for a first timer, but if you are a seasoned gamer you may very well be just fine. But rather than Diablo, I would recommend last Epoch as a really good starter arpg. Poe 2 is a lot more complicated, but last epoch will give you a really good base to start with and it's cheaper than Diablo as well

Bloodborne was my first Fromsoft game and platinum. I turned my character into a werewolf. What other game can you turn your character into a werewolf ? I used the kirk hammer until i got Ludwigs holy great sword. I remember everything about that game. Also Micolash is “Majestic”

I agree with Gene that I kinda miss the gamey-ness and almost nintendoish boss fights of Demons Souls. Each boss had a gimmick or puzzle which was fun to figure out.

I always feel like I’m taking crazy pills when I hear people talk about P3 Reload. I personally think Persona 3 Reload is horrible. The social links are just random people, not your party members and the story is non-existent until the last 2 months. Tartarus is also the worst dungeon in existence. So boring

Indiana Jones is probably the best surprise of the year for me. It was so good! Easily the best Indy-anything since Last Crusade. The characters, story, exploration...all top notch! I hate puzzles, so I don't have to admit turning down the difficulty for that (glad they had different options for action difficulty vs puzzle)

I have egg on my face. Xbox is so frustrating. Right after recommending it here- their cloud streaming has been completely down for 24 hours. They are heavily advertising cloud as a console alternative, but cloud is still in Beta. I only have PS5, but wanted to play Indy so I got a new Firestick that xcloud supports and got a month of Gamepass. The service has worked pretty well most of the time till yesterday when it completely stopped working. Stadia it is not. That service was stellar. I had no issues and played well over 100 hours of Cyberpunk almost 3 years ago. That played in 4k 30 or 1080 60. This xcloud looks like 720 (if that), but it seems to be 60fps consistently. Very disappointing to say the least.

My favorite gaming Christmas present was after the PS3 came out, I was a working adult but it was so expensive. I am a PlayStation guy but not a 360 since it was cheaper. I work retail so I know what a PS3 box looks like. I opened gifts from my non-gaming sister, 3 PS3 games... I'm "thanks.." Then my brother gave me his gift to open, a huggies diaper box, inside? A PS3 60GB model! The two had planned the order of gifts & got me! 😂 😂

I need Dustin to know Saturn is actually easy to emulate now. He's mentioned a few times it's hard to emulate, but that's a myth long held over from the days it was true. Try Mednafen and then a frontend called Mednaffen. I have a much weaker rig that Dustin based on what he says he's played on it and they run without flaws. Because yeah, the games are expensive. But flashcarts are also a thing now!
