The holidays are upon us, and thus it's time to roll out an old Sacred Symbols tradition: Our list of the most remarkable, interesting, confounding, and notable moments in the world of PlayStation for the calendar year. As usual, each of us has chosen five 'moments' -- that's 15 total -- and they all involve the PlayStation ecosystem in some way, some literally and obviously, while others more loosely and casually. So let's chat about Helldivers 2's meteoric success, the collapse of Concord and Firewalk, Xbox's wide-ranging publishing capitulation to Sony, the lead-up to (and launch of) PS5 Pro, the PlayStation brand's uneven 30th anniversary celebration, Sony's decision to publish Horizon on Switch, the furor around Stellar Blade, confirmation of a new PlayStation handheld in the years to come, and much, much more. I am a couple of episodes behind. Can someone explain to me why Colin hasn't touched either Silent Hill 2 Remake or Alan Wake II after he got his PS5 Pro? He's not gonna get to them anytime soon, is he? lol

All of the COD games have always been 60 fps. I’ve long said that is the reason Colin has always praised the feel of COD and said other games should just copy them. He was unknowingly feeling the higher framerates

It will never happen, but I would pay good money for a very thorough post-mortem of Concord that contains all of the information Colin hasn't discussed publicly. Concord's failure fascinates me to no end.

I can't believe none of the boys called out my favorite PlayStation moment this year! The best PlayStation moment was when Hiroki Totoki walked out on an empty Game Awards stage, pulled down his pants and dropped a big ol dookie on the stage while saying "this is an Xbox"

I don’t like beating a dead horse but Colin can simply no longer complain or comment on the ‘culture war’ or ‘this games woke’ reactions when he pimped out Stutteringcraig’s grift of the “real game awards”. Platform whoever you want that’s fine but I can’t pretend I can hold what Colin says in that area with the same weight I used to. EDIT: Please do me a favor and go look at the SideScrollers YouTube and their recent uploads. This is the guy Colin finds worth being associated with LastStand.

Colin complaining about cultural brain rot is so insane to me when you have stuttering Craig on to promote his grift and the ONLY pushback at all was "hmmm maybe charging to vote isn't the best idea" but no mention how his entire shtick is culture war brainrot bullshit. Seems like wild cognitive dissonance to me. I can maybe give it a pass if Colin just wasn't aware of the type of content he posts and just took him at face value but it seems like he has blinders on to the overwhelmingly negative response to that episode. It doesn't take much to just look at his channel and see what he's all about. Would love to see Colin acknowledge even a little bit that it wasn't the best move to have him on at least but I doubt it. And to clarify I don't think it's bad to have people on like this but it is bad to have them on and just not acknowledge all of his culture war bullshit and let him promote "the real game awards". Just seems like you're cosigning what he does. Like somebody else in this thread mentioned not beating a dead horse and I agree with that but this is kind of frustrating. Okay rant over. Colin has done an exceptional job trying to court outside voices. I understand that modern games media won’t really touch him with a 39 1/2 ft pole. I remember him bringing on writers from more mainstream outlets. I applaud him reaching out to Gene who is a great addition to LSM. I’m sure it’s tiring sifting through endless emails and he’s at a point where people should come talk to him it’s unfortunate that after games media and independent podcasters, all that’s left is disingenuous algorithm chasers.

Seeing people prove Colin right in this discussion is just amazing. The absolute entitlement to proclaim you can’t have someone on or it invalidates your overall take is some A class absurdity. Just cancel culture, immature, echo chamber bullshit. I’ve disagreed plenty with Colin and guests, you can read them in many threads (but who cares what I say) and even in the Stuttering Craig one where I definitely had many. To have the audacity to proclaim that you lose the right to say something because you simply had a guest on is truly embarrassing for the few here proclaiming as such. I hope something is done about it as the Discord is utterly ruined and like Colin said, too many of you think you’re the main characters. Employment and industry situations aside, Amazing year of video games, new hardware and overall experience of being someone that loves this medium. Last Stand had an incredible year, Summoning Sign is a huge hit and 2025 should be just as stellar.

I feel like Colin isn't leaving any room at all for the idea of some people having good faith reasons to not be crazy about intergalactic so far. I would even observe that Chris and Dustin don't seem very Jazzed at all by it right now, in fact everytime Colin gets on his soap box and glazes the hell out on naughtydog for the 500th time, they fall very silent. Just a thought.

That last part about intergalactic and the "anti-woke" was so annoying to listen. Colin saying "do you even play games?" because people don't start glazing naughty dog immediately is insane. One of the most popular genres is soulslike at the moment, yet he refuses to even play anything if it is mentioned anywhere that it could be soulslike, do you like games Colin? How can you not really play any souls? I don't care about naughty dog, I played uncharted, I didnt like it and the last of us was just good, nothing more, and the intergalactic protagonist looks like the typical butch lesbian with what seems like a "know-it-all" attitude. I really don't care about that game but I love gaming and I love games I am just so tired of the uglyfication and deconstractions of archetypes in the last years. And no matter how much you bitch about how naughty dog and Druckman are the best thing in gaming it won't change my opinion.

Back in the 90’s, preorders where to gauge how many games or systems to make. They should always have open preorder for a set time and make that many. Not that hard to figure out.

Did Colin not hear the horrible things Stuttering Craig said about Jaffe? I tend be neutral, and accept that others don’t share my opinions, but when someone says extremely hurtful personal things about another individual’s children it comes across incredibly scummy. Pretty sure that’s why people around here aren’t too fond of him. I personally find what Craig said about Jaffe way more offensive than what EZ Allies did to Dustin. That aside, Colin calling out that Twitter post commenting on Intergalactic was hilarious and necessary.
