When truly great games are delivered, players tend to respond. The industry's newest sales success is the long-awaited Kingdom Come: Deliverance sequel, which immediately sold a million copies upon release. But it's hardly alone. And the rest of this long year is already shaping up to be something special, with Metal Gear Solid Delta's release date leaking, Death Stranding 2's newest trailer drawing nearer, and EA's Battlefield finally toying with a real comeback. Other news this week includes the potential of a discless PlayStation 6, the arrival of more Xbox games on PS5 in the form of Age of Empires and Age of Mythology, Capcom's announcement of a port of PS2's Onimusha 2 for PlayStation 4, and more. Let's then round things out with listener inquiries, as is our tradition. What are our thoughts on the return of games media brand Rooster Teeth? Is Sony putting its own games on sale too quickly and too steeply, to its own detriment? Did EA executives really claim Dragon Age: The Veilguard failed because it wasn't live service? Will Colin ever recover from tendinitis, or are his weightlifting days over?

Bound to the floor lyric! Shout out to Local H

I have very similar dreams to Colin’s. They’re called stress dreams. In mine, I’m back in high school and I have the wrong colored socks for my football game. Always wake up sweaty as hell from them.

IronLion44

If your arms are truly as skinny as you say, then 40lbs curls is way too much. 25-30lbs is the sweet spot for average dudes. Just increase your reps if you feel it’s too light. Trust the process.

Man I still dislike the hbo version of Ellie. Something about her just always seems so forced to me and I always feel like she looks 10 years old

Black Detective in Dexter

Leave it to Chris to pick the worst Far Cry game... Don't sleep on Far Cry 4. It holds up incredibly well on PC at modern framerate and resolution.

Sofreeto Bandito

If they are from the sand village, shouldn’t the be calling Dustin kazekage?

FlynnTaggartGuy

I’d rather be shot than tickled. Edit: Chris, at least finish Space Marine 2. Christ.

Adam Barnes

I’ve been listening to these guys for too long… as soon as they started talking about how you don’t really notice logos after a while I knew Chris would bring up FedEx 😅

Yeah I’m a personal trainer with over a decade of experience. Colin 40s are way too heavy for curls. I’m a big guy (225 lbs at 5’11”) and I can deadlift and squat over 400 lbs respectively. I only use 15-20-25lbs DBs for curls. For arm growth it’s about mechanical tension and contraction quality. When your body speaks - listen, injuries happen due to overuse and compensatory patterns. Means the arm is no longer relying solely on the biceps brachii to move the elbows, as it’s too much weight, tendons and ligaments are being pulled into the fold and strained there inflammation happens to protect them. AKA tendinitis.

Zac

I'm totally with Chris on how he plays games. I pretty much skip all story for most of the games I play and once my itch for the gameplay has been scratched I move on to the next thing. Every now and then a story will hook me and I'll pay attention to it, but it's pretty rare. There are even games that I love the story, but my itch has been scratched when it comes to the gameplay and I'll drop it and come back maybe even years later to finish it.

LoPan’s Fingernail

Doing 40lb curls is actually insane if all you’re trying to do is build muscle lol. All you need is like 15-20LBS and do like 3 sets of 20 and then do a drop set until failure to just destroy your arms. Not about how heavy you lift but about form and slowly focusing on contracting the muscle.

Gavin Kelly

Can't believe they didn't mention our boy Dustin getting traded to the Lakers...

Write in talking about computer science/career change: I mean this with as much respect as possible to our hosts but you are a technical person asking advice from non technical creatives. Having skills and experience in both aerospace engineering and computer science will probably make you very competitive candidate for many software positions in many domains. You might not end up in game dev, but if you’ve invested time and money in CS (and enjoy it of course) I’d keep consider to just keep going. Just my perspective. Shoot for the moon, land among stars type of thing (maybe literally for you?)

NeO JD

I took it as Abby was buff because after her dad was murdered, she had 1 goal on her mind at all times, revenge. So she bulked up to literally become a weapon and hunt Joel down. Not sure how that’d translate to the show but it is disappointing to hear Neil’s rationale. Meanwhile, I liked Bella as Ellie for S1 but she already doesn’t look the part for S2. PS5 Pro not having a disc-drive suggests to me that the PS6 will launch the same way. Shout out to Burnie and the Rooster Teeth OGs. Is EA crazy? Yes.

Girth Brooks

Starting to feel like AOC could develop a game about transitioning pre-schoolers and LSM would say it failed because of level design.

Lunar Tear

Colin keeps referring to the historical Jesus as Jesus Christ, as if Christ is a last name rather than a designation.

Mateusz Kuklinski

Gotta say, not enough Hokage or Kazekages being thrown out in this podcast.

Ethical mailman

I laughed when Dustin said ‘George bush’ when they were discussing George Washington’s pubes. Chris and Colin didn’t hear him.

Robert Graham

The distaste for Intergalactic is just the whiners who say it’s DEI or whatever cause she’s…. A girl I guess? Who knows.

A-a-ron

"Grab me with some authority" is an all time Colin quote.

Ryan Harvey

Funny you guys discussed Devil May Cry, just beat DMC1 and am playing through DMC 3 right now! Very excited to blast through the rest of the series this year. DMC V was so awesome, can’t wait to finally get back to it.

Adam Barnes

These boys talk so highly of their overpriced Herman whatever chairs just for them to squeal like a stuck pig coming through the mics any time they turn 😅 I reckon I’ll stick with my Secretlab

Joey B

One of my favorite things now is the George Lucas impersonation. Chris cracks me up every time!

Maid Addison94

Touching on the PSN sign in requirement, PC gamers don't want to sign into another service that has to have a constant connection to work, especially Sony who has a history of service outages like today 2-8-24.

Diddy’s Dong Quest

I think there’s a solid argument to be made that Steam has eviscerated the perception of value with game prices. If a 10/10 high budget game is 10 years old, why is it that the expectation is it should be $5?If I go into a record shop today and buy a copy of Dark Side of the Moon (new OR used) it’ll be expensive. But it’s freaking Dark Side! It’s of high quality and should be priced that way perpetually.

Big titty drinker

It’s not that Nintendo games have more cashe , it’s just that if you buy a Nintendo system your only buying it to play thier games because of the lack of high level 3rd party support. Where as with PlayStation their games have to compete with games like gta and red dead. Just more options due to the hardware horse power.

Shane Sperry

I played all of Mafia I DE and loved it based off what Colin and Chris was playing. Went straight to Mafia II and the game was such a huge step down in every way. It was weird that it was the sequel and played so much worse than the first. But I was excited to play for the story and ran into too many bugs, one that seemed like I couldn’t get past so I gave up.

Russell Cottrell-Garrett

A Polestar is basically just a Volvo. I have one as a company car and it’s lovely!

Uvula Smack

Here’s why people don’t like the Abby casting. For the game - people criticized the unrealistic body type of Abby. ND acted like people were bigots and sexist for pointing that out. When it came to finding a real life person to fill that role - they couldn’t find it. The body type is completely unrealistic. They then come up with an excuse for why they couldn’t cast the actual body type.

Lunar Tear

DMC5 is sublime. Shout to to Dustin for putting respect on it.

MollyMog

For the Aerospace Engineer write in- I am also an Aerospace Engineer, and I actually did switch to game dev for a year at That’s No Moon. I found out that game dev really isn’t for me, and I came back to Aerospace. I now have my work, and enjoy playing games after work.

Simon

The DMC reboot is my absolute fave of the franchise, one of my favourite games, love the style, love THAT Dante. So disappointed they just went back to the other one

Markeus

40 is crazy work. Work up to it, your body just isn’t used to it. Muscle comes back in form quick

Criterion

I just paused the podcast and had to look up the FedEx logo. Holy shit, how did I never notice the arrow?!

Walk Forward Cutscene

The write-in that called Colin out on his GamePass derangement syndrome was 100% correct

Drew's Dew

My take on pc ports: - Pc ports are not good for playstation exclusives because when ps5 was first detailed. Mark Cerny gave a lot of emphasis in the ssd. The ssd and the io performance is top notch and used to make unique experiences as he mentioned. Now, while developing the games you can’t do quick loading game mechanics if you want to support a broad range of pc’s. Even if the games are requiring speedy ssds it ultimately doesn’t matter because the game will still work on slower than required storage solutions. With all that inconsideration pc release stagnates new and unique technologies on the consoles.

Ben Haner

Came for the PlayStation talk, Stayed for the perspectives on the religious experience

The Rose Experience

The inability for the crew to admit that games absolutely fail due to “woke” aspects is kind of impressive. Dragon Age almost explicitly failed as a game due to this, that’s a fact. The main drivers of the game were YouTubers who almost entirely were against the game contrary to what Chris is wrongfully implying. That’s who EA was counting on to push the game and it didn’t work. Even the staunchest Dragon Age fans, and despite Colin’s assertion the franchise did HAVE many, spoke out against Veilguard and its abomination of writing and characters. I’m not sure why the crew can’t just let themselves embrace the fact that gamers are rejecting this outright and while it might not be as widespread as the bad faith messengers try and push, it’s a big factor hurting sales. I remember Chris insinuating that Concord’s failure wasn’t due to “wokeness” or whatever you want to call it and it unequivocally did! Also, the assertion that no one can even describe it is laughable, everyone knows what it is, what it looks and sounds like and it’s lazy to just "Muuhhh cause the gays are in it!" as you smirk during a podcast. No, that’s not the reason, it’s ALWAYS been the agenda above everything which Concord and DA Veilguard had in spades. They paid for it ultimately. Everyone knows what Woke is and as much as I dislike the word it is what is being used to describe this so it'll continue being repeated. It's a factor, gamers and people, in general, are rejecting it and will continue to do so no matter how you're claiming it's minute or irrelevant in video game decisions.

@Dustin how does one soft mod an SD card for a DSI? Asking for a friend….

Macro

Dustin wanting DSi XL instead of a 3DS XL for playing DS games is so wild to me

Zachary Beach

I was thinking that Dustin was the most chilled out Christian to call himself reformed that iv ever seen. Now I learn that he’s Presbyterian. Ok yeah that makes so much more sense.

Andrew

Aside from the bear scene in Baldurs Gate 3 there was minimal anti-woke discourse about the game. The game did well because of critics and positive social media coverage. Bluesky Chris can never cede that even cringe youtubers had a part in plastering social media with the Dragon Age downfall because he is too scared to disagree with daddy Colin

Braxton Wilkerson

You guys did a great job on the new side quest video. Would love to see you work with Ian more in the future. Thanks for another great show.

Genius but with downs

Chris is a massive retard for saying Evil Dead was a box office failure. 30 million worldwide on a 375 thousand dollar budget lol

BlueBoletarian

Much love to you Dustin as a fellow Reformed Presbyterian. Soli Deo Gloria.

Hunter Flaherty

Holy fuck druckman is a fucking DOOOOUUUUCHE

Gabriel Baker

Dustin, about the Age Of games on console: they have mouse and keyboard support on Xbox, and presumably will on PS5 as well
