Been waiting for this. Just started chemo today. This is the fuel I need ! Thanks guys and gal

Benthegamer

This show is so unhinged 😂

Ryan Smith

How did Micah work an IT job but also mentions how she doesn’t know how to work a steam deck? Lmao

Zac

Micah when you said you used to play a game called "Muppy" did you mean to say Mappy? Because if so that game rules

Daniel

Those two ideas aren’t mutual exclusive. IT incorporates a lot of tech and end user elements so you can still have issues with figuring out new hardware. It’s not that serious lmao

BigDumbStupidIdiot

Xenoblade X is the purest RPG crack. This shit is going to hit so hard

Scuba diving in the virgin islands was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, everything was so cool looking. Closest thing to being an astronaut you can get. Quit hating on the ocean! You know what is really fucked up though is how fuckin big lobsters get, those things look freaky, and are as big as an average size dog. I was more scared of them than the sharks

Zac

"it's not that serious" So what part of that dudes comment is making you think he's taking it "that serious"? Like how serious do you think they're taking it, and what is making you think they're taking it any level of serious? Seemed to me like a roast so light you can drink it without milk so I'm curious where you're getting it from that he's taking it "that serious"

Not really into Monster Hunter cause it sounds so hard to get into it but I always thought it looked pretty cool. Gene saying Wilds is pretty easy was the last reason I needed to get the courage to get into the series. Just pre-ordered a ps5 copy, wish me luck 🙌🏼

Gene cmon lmao just cuz you’re not into Wonder Woman doesn’t mean people can like it. Show a great gameplay segment and people are in. The hell are you talking about. So what make Batman stuff forever ?

I loved XBC1, and then finished but did not like XBC2, and couldn't really get into XBC3 (one day I'm sure I'll go back). I played XBCX on Wii U up until you get the mech and was disappointed in the game overall that I dropped it there. Gene sold me and got me hyped for XBCX and I'm likely gonna be there day 1 for it.

Where is the proof that companies believed pandemic demand would last forever? Blaming "the man" seems like a strawman argument. When demand increases, companies naturally hire to meet it; they can't ignore potential profits. Gene's argument seems to suggest companies should either not hire for increased demand and lose out on profits, or hire and then guarantee jobs even when demand drops. This doesn't make sense. It's a misunderstanding of basic economics just to signal virtue about lost jobs. No one is owed a job when demand decreases—that's unrealistic. Why aren't the new hires also blamed? They should understand that a demand spike during the pandemic wouldn't last forever and shouldn't assume job security indefinitely. Companies won't offer permanent contracts; it's up to individuals to make wise job decisions and have backup plans. This isn't simply a matter of "corporate execs bad, employees good."

BigDumbStupidIdiot

There was an increase in demand for consoles but not games. Publishers/developers over-hired on a gamble there will be a high enough retention rate on new consoles owners which, obviously, didn't work out. These layoffs are on executives and stockholders complete lack of risk management. Also, dick riding companies is lame

Gene Park

Because multiple companies have said that was the case dude. Meta. Microsoft. Google. Apple. Amazon. And my own company as well.

Gene Park

You’re right. This was before Gail Simone started to talk about the game a bit more. It’s a real shame we can’t even look at it.

Girth Brooks

Company dick-riding? Bro, you’re literally paying for a podcast about being a fan of one of the largest companies in the world 😂. Fitting username though.

Christopher O'Toole

They also invested in property and infrastructure as well as green lighting multi year projects based on the belief that pandemic growth was sustainable. A handful of higher ups probably made a lot of money despite their terrible business acumen. Luckily they live in an era where they don’t need to scapegoat the workforce anymore as the general population do it for them, idolising corporate greed and confusing wealth with intelligence.

Girth Brooks

Not at all. I fucking love companies.

Envydiel

Not sure what Gene's eluding to at that start, but I hope your health is ok dude.

Envydiel

All the best dude

Uvula Smack

Gene! I was really asking as a new listener bemused by your tone on the show. Hope all is well.

Have to shoutout the nes final fantasy manual and included maps. Definitely memorable 🤘🇨🇦🤘 cheers

I don’t enjoy tinkering with PCs as a hobby. I worked that awful job because it paid the bills. Gaming needs to be plug and play, no troubleshooting involved. -Micah

Ha this thumbnail 😆👏🏻

How is being a fan the same as company dick-riding? You can enjoy a company’s products without defending bad decision making.

I saw Tony Hawk back in 2018 at a restaurant in Mammoth mountain sitting at a bar while we were ordering some beers. I whispered to my brother next to me, “dude there’s Tony Hawk.” Then my brother just yells “Mr. Hawk! Mr. Hawk!” He looked around so I know he heard him, but then he paid his tab and quickly left. Hahaha me, my wife and my brother all still laugh about that story to this day. Any time Tony Hawks name comes up my wife and I yell to each other “Mr. Hawk!”

Michael Mashpotato

I’ve never played a Xenoblade game but it sounds awesome. The mech concept is very appealing to me. Im at the end of Chained Echos and it sounds a teeny bit similar with mechs and it being an rpg. I may have to jump in when it releases. Or at the least put it into my back log for now. But I think I’m sold.

NeO JD

Hope all is well Gene ❤️

Trapgunner

I appreciate Micah not wanting to pirate games. However it’s not a bad idea to get a rom to try the game then invest in the physical if you like it.

FlynnTaggartGuy

Gene has a way of making me want to play whatever he’s talking about right away

Marcus

I think Gene way off about Rivals, it's going to have legs for a long time. Also after hearing him talk about Xeno I really need to get it! Maybe for switch 2 😎

Glen Yelenovic

Gene is fantastic. Stop letting the haters get to you
