The Unending Sixth Extinction | Sacred Symbols, Episode 350

This week, Sacred Symbols is a Kojima Fanboy Podcast... for a little while, anyway. Finally -- finally! -- we have a release date for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and it's fairly close, arriving on PlayStation 5 in late June. And as a deep love for Kojima is perhaps the biggest gaming stance all three Sacred hosts share, we thought we'd spend some time getting hyped up following an all-new 10 minute trailer, collector's edition and pre-order details, and so on. Other news this week includes word of major forthcoming updates to PS5 Pro, the leak of a mysterious PSP game called STAMP that was never greenlit into production, the announcement of PowerWash Simulator 2 (!) from FuturLab, rumors of imminent PS5 releases for Indiana Jones and an Oblivion Remake, and much more. Then: Listener inquiries! What do we think of the reveal that Naughty Dog's Intergalactic will deal with religion as a central theme? Do we have any thoughts about the copious leaks from the recent Battlefield playtests? How will MLB: The Show 25 shape-up in its first current-gen-only PlayStation outing? Does Dustin have a serious misconception of what some people actually do when listening to our shows? Follow the hosts! Dustin Furman

Shaun Sannerude

Fuck me I can't stop looking at that thumbnail!

About to watch but my god..... This thumbnail makes me very happy

Deemac

I want an image of Tarman & his cat photoshopped to Gene & Jack

Will

HAHAHAHAHAA tremendous. turn Neil into Brad during *that* part of the trailer near the end

Seth Eden

that thumbnail tho

BrotherDan

This is my first comment ever and it is all because of that cursed thumbnail.

Walker Simmons

The lonely, cold depressing atmosphere of death stranding mixed with the beautiful but haunting music of Low Roar (RIP) made it an unforgettable and emotional experience that lingers with you way after beating it. So hyped for the sequel looks like the best game this gen so far. Nobody else has the creative mind and massive budget to pull off this sort of thing in games

Leo Sanchez

Definitely top 3 god tier thumbnail

Seth

I had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday... Fuck you for this thumbnail, I actually laughed out loud and hurt myself. LOL FUCK

Jay

Decades back it was hard to find information on things because there wasn't the internet and google, so you had to put in work to get answers to questions. I feel like we are heading back to that same spot with one exception. Eventually the reason you will have to put in work again to find the answers is because there is so much disinformation and fake stuff out there it's hard to know what's true and what's fake.

Chris Morton

Not pictured: Dustin as Dollman on Colin's hip

Really dumb that MS doesn't put all their games out on Playstation physically. Like why make it so there's no other choice, but to build a consumers digital library, on a competitors platform lol. Just more reason to never jump ship from PS to MS. I mean shit at least if someone had physical copies and were dumb enough to hop over to xbox they have something to trade or sell towards it lolol.

Troy C

Not sure if anyone will see this, but in response to Colin about Tarantino. He said that he doesn’t want his legacy to be tarnished if he continues to make films and they progressively get worse which happens a lot. I think it’s pretentious but it is what it is.

MnTwinsfan92

This thumbnail is incredible! If there is ever a ranking of the shows thumbnails, gotta think this is up there for the best yet

I agree 1000% with individuals needing to be more responsible, but unfortunately, for a large number that is never going to happen. Without even taking a specific stance or bringing up a particular subject to not start divisiveness here, you’re looking at a population where people do not even attempt to educate themselves and instead follow influencers or bought/paid for media figures.

Justin G

Holy shit that fucking thumbnail is up there in the top 10 no question lmfaooo absolutely first class work!

Gaming Forever

I’m sorry, but it’s laughable to have a conversation about how the community needs to be better to one another and respectful of opinions they don’t agree with, when just last month Chris told a Trump supporter to k*ll themselves, got banned from X, cried about it, and then ran off to Bluesky. So, it’s fine for a cohost of the podcast to act like that, but you’re upset because anonymous people in the community argue in the comments?!

TL

I’m not even on X barely so I had no idea about that.

Unemployable troon

There has to be more to it than that, no? I’m also not on X so I would have no idea

Thomas

Love you guys all the Last Stand family. Thanks for all you do.

AricTheRed

Yo, people are calling it out but fucking fantastic thumbnail. My god. 🤣🤣🤣 S+ tier.

Aric Anderson

Thank you Dustin. Hold that ground on One Piece.

Frank G.

🤣🤣🤣 I'm fucking dying.

Ryan Hayman

I completely disagree with Chris here regarding Oblivion and Skyrim. I played both the day they came out, and I find the games to be almost the same as far as gameplay. Oblivion pushed the genre forward, and in my opinion, Skyrim changed some very minor gameplay beats (map is way better) but in a less engaging setting. Obviously both are jank still.

RearedSquare

Just like PSN accounts are required for PC PS Studio titles, a Microsoft account is required for Microsoft games on PlayStation. Makes sense to me

Connor

I commented something similar to this on the Youtube video and Chris responded saying that person lied about him but looked like damage control to me. Clearly struck a nerve if he felt the need to respond to a rando like me on a youtube comment.

Guybrush Threepwood

Wanted to say- I complained about the separate RSS feeds when it happened, but now, I'm used to it and it is working fine. Sorry that I complained.

Germanos

How can you skip over part of a Kojima trailer? Guy creates those with super care and are the best handcrafted pieces of gaming media. I don't get it.

Colin, I can’t help but feel your plan to play DS1 and DS2 back to back is going to be a disaster.. that to me screams future burnout. Whatever about doing it for Spider-man, but Death Stranding is obviously much, much bigger and I can’t help but feel your opinion of DS2 could be influenced negatively by this plan.. just putting it out there, obviously do what you want!

Walt Duncan

39:05 telomeres are the threads at the end of DNA, I assume you mean, Chris. By correcting for their decay at the end of DNA code in cells, you kind of address two things 1) It protects the regenerative ability of cells, and 2) it is somewhat precluding cancer from forming. Second one is not likely to ever be advertised on a drug label, but it would also be a consequence.

Surge!

I believe the guy Colin was trying to reference was Bryan Johnson. A while ago he did a podcast with Bill Maher, talking about his anti-aging routines.
