It’s nice to see Gene talk positive about this thing. I swear to god, the foolish remarks I’ve been seeing online to anything from price to the console itself have been brain dead. So thank you Gene for giving an honest, balanced response to the direct and impressions. My thoughts: 1. Nice upgrade. People complaining that it’s underpowered were glazing the switch the past 8 years…..when it was underpowered when it released. Handhelds or consoles that can function as handhelds aren’t going to be super powerful if they want to have any semblance of battery life when portable. A little more expensive than I thought it would be but I’m perfectly fine with it. Complaining over 50 dollars for a game console that will be used for 5+ years is the peak of entitled. Games: nothing wowed me, but there were solid games that I’m interested in. Mario Kart looked great and I’ll probably play the new Kirby. I’m so behind on games in general that I’m more excited for the Xenoblade games to get patched (paid or otherwise) to run better at better resolutions. Pricing: the hot topic of the entire unveiling. Short thought - gamers have become extremely whiny and entitled. Long thoughts - I agree with Colin when he said, if 10 dollars is going to break the bank, maybe find another hobby. Games today even at 80 or 90 dollars are either similar or cheaper when adjusted for inflation that games used to be back in the ps1/n64 era. The vast majority of people don’t finish the games they buy, and even the ones that do, myself included can’t even keep up with the pace of how many games are released. Either learn how to budget and buy less games or stop whining. Price for upgrades even if 20 dollars is perfectly fine. It’s fine when Sony does it for their games and it’s fine here. It’s entirely optional and isn’t forced on anyone. I feel like gamers today expect the console and 20 games and all their dlc should be 50 dollars and if it isn’t, then it’s trash. I’m so so tired of how whiny people have become over the cost of gaming. It’s no higher than it’s always been when adjusted for inflation. On top of this, how are they supposed to keep up with what gamers supposedly want if they don’t raise prices. The same people complain about people being laid off yet complain if prices go up. You aren’t going to have both if you want the amount of and scope of games. The only complaint people should have is the actual games not being on physical carts seemingly half the time. That’s extremely stupid. I’ll probably (and unfortunately) go digital with the Switch 2 unless it’s some cool special edition. Did everything from the Direct blow me away? No, more so in the games department. They had a little bit for everyone though and at least one game will be for someone. The console itself is exactly what I’d want - a better Switch Once again, thank you Gene for being realistic and enthusiastic with your impressions. Good job
