Can You Hear the Rumble That's Calling? | Sacred Symbols, Episode 356

It's been a very busy week in PlayStation Land. For starters, Sucker Punch's long-awaited follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima -- Ghost of Yotei -- has a release date. It'll be coming to PS5 on October 2nd, alongside a non-linear, almost Mega Man-like gameplay structure. We're excited! Let's discuss. Then: Bethesda's Oblivion Remastered has finally arrived, PS5's new firmware memorializes the 30th anniversary celebration once an for all, Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders light up the internet, Star Wars is getting a strategy RPG, and lots of others news, too. Finally: Listener inquiries! How come Sony subsidiary Aniplex isn't publishing Danganronpa-like The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy on PlayStation 5? Which existing entertainment properties would best benefit from the Supermassive/Quantic Dream "CYOA" formula? Is the Catholic Church really canonizing a "gamer saint"? Which Last Stand contributor should we replace with AI first? Follow the hosts! The Hitman Trilogy in VR2 works really well, simple controls and super immersive. Just the environments themselves being AAA are fun to experience. I dusted off the headset for it and would recommend. I forgot how immersive VR can be. At no point did I think to myself while gaming, "This story sucks I should just listen to a podcast." Peace and have a swell weekend yo.

It would have been hilarious if all of Oblivion Remasters DLC was free... except the horse armor, that costs 5 dollars.

Finishing up last week's episode... And after listening to Dustin expound on what he thinks Prototype is... I'd like to suggest a new segment for the show. Just Dustin giving us 5 mins on a game he hasn't ever played.

I agree with that write-in about other podcasters talking over each other. It is pretty striking, actually. LSM crew is the most professional I've come across. Even with 3-4 members on a show (such as constellation, where the whole point is to just talk, even there - super rare for anyone to talk over someone else).

You guys are really good at letting each other talk. Rogan is also good about that too

Please support the hundred line if you like this type of games. The creators went indie and self funded 50% of the project. He basically said there is no more money to put out a PS/xbox version and the current switch/steam versions need to sell well for further porting to happen 🙏

I couldn’t be farther from Colin, with AI. I don’t expect a Terminator scenario, we agree on that. But, you bet your ass I am saying “thank you” at the end of every demanding Siri exchange. AI or not, it don’t hurt to be kind. 🤷‍♂️

Hey CDC. I'm an Englishman who's been happily married to my Polish wife for close to 3 years now. Since being with her there have been multiple times where I have had to correct her on certain English words she'd struggle with. It's funny on occasion, like the time I walked into a room where she was talking to her brother about "Tom Rider" to which I responded "who's Tom Rider?" only to realize they were both trying to say Tomb Raider. However, I learnt something the other day that disturbed me so much, I just had to write in. Something that shook me to my very core and permeated my entire being. I discovered that Polish people call toes, wait for it..."foot fingers". Now, am I being over the top or do you find this as freakishly disturbing as I do?

Great episode as always. Thanks, champs! Just wanted to chip in on the 'no backlog' topic: I have both a backlog and a to-buy-list, and honestly, I don't see a problem with any. All you need to understand is that your goal is to not finish your backlog. Think about it like mowing the lawn. Even if you get it done completely, it will come back. My backlog is a curated list of games I already bought and could start playing anytime I want. When finishing one game I just look into it (currently 230 games) and I select one that I feel like playing. There is nothing limiting to it.

Danio

Exactly. A big backlog is a blessing, not a curse! Especially to people like me that don't feel the hype to play the newest thing, I can play a game from 2008 right now and buy the new game on a 50% discount.

Germanos

High-five backlog bro! 🖐

I tried so hard to get my kid the Switch 2. Every site I tried glitched out.

Born-Blind

Type 1/Type 2 actually doesn't bother me at all in games. I totally get where it bothers people but for me it's sort of just solving the issue. No one fully gets what they want and then we can all move on to play the game. Meh... On second thought it is a bit odd considering the metrics that most humans fall into

Born-Blind

I have actually have Hondahack installed on my car so I get the PSX startup on my radio every time I crank up the car

Hey CDC! Botox is indeed used for chronic migraines, I’m actually the director for the Botox therapeutic specialty pharmacy program and chronic migraine is the most commonly prescribed indications.
