Well, we were ready to have a very positive episode, but here we are! Xbox has gone all the away ahead of most of the competition and confirmed the following. Console and accessories prices are jumping immediately. Xbox game prices will reach $80 by the end of the year. In a world where first party is mostly producing divisive titles sitting in the ~80 open critic range, you have to imagine Xbox’s financial situation can’t be in a brilliant stop to step on a rake ahead of its competition. Yet, that’s where things get even more interesting. Xbox’s Q3 2025 results saw them at the industry’s top publisher while also being the leader in games sold on PlayStation with at least four of their titles in the top 10. Xbox wants their money and the Dukes have plenty of thoughts on this. Is this going to push even more people into Game Pass? Will this give birth to a free tier of Game Pass? What of Cloud Streaming’s growth when consoles are becoming extremely pricey. Meanwhile, it's already May and it feels as if we have enough fantastic games to begin our voting on Game Of The Year! Expedition 33 is the talk of the town alongside Oblivion and rightfully so, but it's fascinating just how many incredible experiences surround them. Unlikely heroes in Last Defense Academy, sleeper indie hits in Towerborne, and much more are around every corner. Who has time for all of this? Hell if we know, but we're just happy to be on the ride 2025 is taking us on.Timestamps:

MS has exemptions on their Xbox tariffs, as well as all the other computer systems they make. This happened on April 14th. Apple also is exempt. So any tariff excuse MS uses is utter garbage.

Boots!

Kept us waiting, huh? Defining Dukes Happy Hour

Once Cog brought up they were selling Expedition 33 merch, I paused the podcast, went to the store, and bought that awesome Paintress t-shirt. Thanks, Cog!

BigDumbStupidIdiot

Can we give LSM and the Duke Dudes five big booms for getting the late breaking Xbox news into the episode? 💪🏼BOOM💪🏼 💪🏼BOOM💪🏼 💪🏼BOOM💪🏼 💪🏼BOOM💪🏼 💪🏼BOOM💪🏼

Daddy T

Shout out to Brad man, not to glaze too much but this guy seems ready and able whenever someone comes calling, Gene Pork as well, them boys are something else

Fenixrisingxl21

No, it doesn’t. The only things that are exempt are parts manufactured for smartphones and laptops. People warned that consoles were not exempt on 4/14. This is the fallout.

Jacob Lesperance

Full manufactured computer systems are exempt. Sorry my man. Its the truth will set you free.

If you don’t feel games are worth 80$ and 70$ at launch then just don’t buy new games maybe? I don’t feel like this is that big of a deal honestly. Comes off as very entitled to think games absolutely have to be priced a certain way at release. You’re not entitled to be able to afford games when they 1st come out. There are plenty of sales ,deals and price drops that happen a year or 2 after a game releases. So just wait ? lol 😂 But if your one of those people who insists on playing everything at release then that’s your own fault and your gonna pay a premium for it. I’m sorry but a lot of this screams entitled broke boi energy to me lol 😂

Brandon A

Same. Just bought a shirt and the coffee mug!

Frank G.

Wow! Fable. 100 dollars now baby don't forget your green tank tops Xbots.

Russell Robinson

Resident Evil 8bfor DLC. It literally continued what Marty was speaking on.

Black Detective in Dexter

True, but as someone that's been gaming since the 90s, the quality of games has gone down quite a bit yet the price continues to rise.

Mike1core

PlayStation keeping the lights on at Xbox lol

Jacob Lesperance

If you truly believe the biggest yeah company in the world isn't savy enough to use these loope holes, I don't know what to tell you. My the company I work for is much, much smaller and we use them, lol.

Fenixrisingxl21

Nintendo raised the prices of Switch 2 accessories worldwide and shifted some of the manufacturing to Vietnam in response to these tariffs. You’re going to have to come up with better evidence than “Microsoft bad.” Lol.

Jacob Lesperance

Nintendo is a Japanese company. MS is American.

Big titty drinker

I’m sorry but that’s bs. There was nothing as good as cyberpunk 2077 in the 90s or early 2000s. Are game perfect? No but to say the quality has gone down is just insane to me.

Big titty drinker

But if you truely feel that way then it’s YOUR responsibility as a consumer to speak with your wallet and go else where.

Bartevious

Super Mario 64 takes a fat steaming dump on the console launch of Cyberpunk. I agree with you to an extent. $80 for assassins creed or far cry is hilarious Fully agree on just waiting tho. I might wait on doom the dark ages for example cuz I’m grinding oblivion and was halfway through outer worlds before it shadowdropped

Big titty drinker

Im playing cyberpunk punk today in 2025 so im not gonna speak to its launch. But if you put Mario and cyberpunk on a table before me today I’m taking cyber punk every time.

Peter Jansen

No one wants to hear this but I agree. Games aren’t a necessity, just don’t buy them or wait for a sale.

Bartevious

A bit of health is wealth for the dukes with diet - Do an honest self analysis of what is important to you in your diet. Me personally, I wasn’t a “let me find 87 different amazing lean recipes I love preparing and meal prepping for”, because that’s not my personality. I was able to drop 50 lbs myself by hard focusing calorie count vs protein count, convenience, and lastly taste. Simply picking my meals with those 3 criteria (for me) made it easy to make it a lifestyle switch. I would make up a pan of chicken, ground beef, steak, etc. maybe some eggs sometimes. Use that meat as a base for a couple different meals. Had my frozen fruit, pasteurized egg whites, protein powder shakes going too. I was getting in around 175-200g of protein a day while eating around 2400 calories and it really wasn’t bad. I found that most days I could have something I really like for a meal - Chipotle, somewhat high in protein pizza, etc

Bartevious

I agree with you again but that’s where it’s interesting, cuz you can get cyberpunk and it’s dlc for like $30 on sale now. It’s been fixed for a while obviously. Was honestly just playing devils advocate I maybe buy 1-2 new games a year, only if I reallyyyy care about them cuz of how much better it is to get them 1-2 years after launch

Feedbackghost

Matty, as far as things cut from Skyrim that were in Oblivion: Custom spell making is probably the biggest. You can do some insane stuff with that. Also the Speed stat and Acrobatics skill, which can dramatically alter the way you explore the world.

Fenixrisingxl21

And? Tariffs are based on where products are manufactured. Has nothing to do with where a company’s home office is. Lol.

AJWhite

I also hate that Bethesda abandoned the need to repair armor and weapons after Fallout 3

Murderer Kevin

Need a segment every week with the boys humming game soundtracks

Pan Ic

In regards to Marathon having few features; this was the same argument being made when Halo bombed. I don't understand this argument at all. Personally I must have north of 10 000hrs in Dust2 alone. Can the game stand on it's gameplay or not?

Ahlickaloo

I think low income folks often make poor financial decisions which is the reason why day 1 $80 is too high for them

Save The Game Media

That write in about Expedition 33 not being about builds and team comp is so wrong lol

Derriere's Gentlemen's Club circa 2006

Folks just need to be alot more discerning with their game purchasing habits. I only buy maybe 3-4 full priced games a year mostly due to my backlog being so long. Those that make that cut are usually from smaller devs who knock it out of the park (like Clair Obscur) or me wanting to send a message to a big publisher that I want more of this in the future (like Dead Space)

Ahlickaloo

Sciel is really strong. Added her from the beginning

Bartevious

Matt you really underestimate the mechanical differences between Skyrim and oblivion. Skyrim heavily neutered magic, removed any pacing from melee combat (oblivion has much more extensive block/stagger/fatigue mechanics), removed spellcrafting, removed fan favorite skills from the game (athletics/acrobatics) which heavily neuters mobility, both in overworld traversal and verticality in combat/exploration. Morrowind has even more player freedom in gameplay. Everything you don’t like about Morrowind, besides the dice roll combat (which you love in fallout 3 but I won’t poke the bear there) and journal based questing is fixed with the ability to use mark/recall/jump buffs/speed buffs etc etc. you can move like an Apache helicopter in that game. I played Morrowind through for the first time like last year. And Skyrim has the worst combat out of modern ES games, that’s my hot take 😂
