Looking forward to hear everyone’s opinion on the Switch 2!

As someone with unusually large hands, I cannot wait for a third party company to make larger joycons like the Hori split pad pro. Those had back buttons as well that worked great. I wonder how long that will take to get.

Been playing the Switch 2 every day since launch & I can’t get enough. Mario Kart is a blast

I am Loving Switch 2 !! But I agree with Micah about the switch grip pad, I ended up buying a switch 2 pro controller.

Cloud

HARD disagree with Gene about user scores. Of course you can find edge cases where games get review bombed, but for the vast majority of games I get a better idea of how good a game is from user scores rather than from access media "journalists." I get that Gene reviews games professionally so he wants to advocate for journalists, but to pretend like user scores are unreliable because of these edge cases is absolutely ridiculous

Love the Switch 2 aside from the battery life. Posting this comment as I'm on a road trip - battery life is rough. I'm going to need to invest in a quality power bank.

In Mario kart you can sort the character select screen so all the costume/ different versions are with the character and not separated. That's not the best choice but better than all the extra scrolling you'd do otherwise.

Chris Church

I’ve always wanted a Mario 3rd person shooter set in the Gears of War world. Seeing Mario and Luigi chainsawing goombas!!!!

zepplinmike

In Mario Kart World Vs mode, you can play traditional versions of any track with 3 laps from a world map screen where you select the track and then either the traditional version or a touring version where you drive from one track to the other. In online, you can do this by hitting the plus button on the track voting screen to bring up a world map that actually lets you select any track and then any version of that track.

100% agree with you Micah, my thumbs are in bits from playing it! My little hands struggle.

It's not "fucked up" to have a height preference, Gene. People are allowed to have preferences.

Whoever wrote in about making a Mac and cheese sandwich with banana bread stand the FUCK down.

One of my favorite things about Switch 2 is happily going into the eShop (which is actually functional now), checking my wishlist, and seeing that I have a bunch of prospective Switch games that’ll be even better to experience on the new system. While the launch lineup is a bit meager, it’s not like I ever caught up on everything in the already existing library. I do wish Donkey Kong and Metroid were there day 1, but oh well.

Bartevious

Gene, the switch 2 doesn’t objectively have a great launch lineup of games because they simply made a sequel to a game, no matter how big. I disagree with your train of logic, which is fine. But saying you can’t argue against it is crazy. And imma buy a switch 2 for Mario kart, but like, cmon. You also kinda acting like a system can only launch with one game. I don’t think people are saying it launched with the wrong game, they’re saying it didn’t launch with enough games. Edit: should’ve just listened for 2 minutes Micah alr made the counter argument I made lmao

Bailey Callis

Everytime I hear this complaint, it rubs be so wrong. Just because there are bad actors, we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. User reviews are extremely valid

Bartevious

No offense to Gene but I would take a 97% positive on steam over a 4 star out of Gene any day of the week.

Alex

Of course a paid critic is going to criticize User scores because they invalidate his profession for many potential buyers in the market for a particular game. Sure there are brigades going after this game or that, but on average User scores are generally more accurate than some rando from IGN or TheGamer. Sounds to me like The Washington Post is criticizing the podcast scene because their profession as a whole is rapidly crumbling to dust.

Jason Thompson

The Mac and cheese banana bread would have to be a less sweet dense banana bread and a sweet Mac and cheese made with cream cheese and it would work. I think it would be ok, but not mind blowing

David P

Insane how much people care what or how you guys play. Don't get it

Gene Park

Gawd you guys remind me of the cringe “yelp elites” of the early 2010s lol - gene

Alex

I don't know what a "yelp elite" is, but whatever that means it doesn't invalidate my comment. But it's rich coming from an actual "elite" who works for TWP. When given the chance why do you sneer at those below? Why do you care what user scores say if they aren't important in your estimation? My guess is that people by and large see user reviews as more genuine than a professional review and that feels like a threat even if that threat is minor. I'm not writing this as a personal attack towards you Gene, but more of a response to the whole review industry as a whole. The disdain modern reviewers have for their readers today is as clear as day.

NeO JD

Saying the Switch 2 launch lineup isn’t bad is wild.

Bartevious

Strawmanning doesn’t change the fact that people who play video games value user scores more than critic reviews

NecrumOddBoy

Micah just gave me the biggest hope for the Zelda series… why can’t we have a game that crosses multiple generations with the different art styles? It would be so awesome to have a Link who sold purpose is to connect and gather all the other Links from across time. Legend of Zelda: A Link Across Time - make it happen!

Gooch Gobbler

I value critics more than users, I find there are a lot more dumb people than dumb critics and critics you don't agree with there is more to chew on, an actual written/recorded review or a history of reviews that show bias. Not two sentences on metacritic or steam
