Buster Douglas boxing or Daytona are the ones I want back. But tbh I wouldn’t mind another 30 dollar Legends NFL2k game. Such a kick in the teeth with what madden did

Bert Chintus

Cog at the playground ass thumbnail 😭

Sort it out, Xbots (Cog not included). You all spent years complaining about Final Fantasy XVI and the FFVII trilogy skipping Xbox. But when the time finally came to put your money where your mouth is, you folded. At this point, it feels like all that whining was never about wanting to actually play the games—it was just about being able to boast that they were coming to your platform. With results like these, don’t be surprised if Square Enix decides it’s simply not worth bringing their games to Xbox anymore. Why should they, when the user base refuses to buy the games they supposedly care about? If you’re only interested in playing games “for free” on Game Pass, were you ever really interested in those games in the first place? Sort it out. And as Colin said on Twitter: “You should actually consider buying the video games you claim you’re interested in.”

Diddy’s Lube Guy

Gene is really not taking Expedition 33 making JRPG’s accessible and interesting well. Don’t worry dude, there’s plenty of weeb slop at the trough.

Jeff in NOLA

Listening in chemotherapy, cycle 9

Jason Rose

Gene and Cog giving me life with the Phantasy Star and Zillion love. This is what I listen for.

Jason Rose

It did neither of those things. JRPG’s have long been accessible and interesting before this and will be long after. I love this game, but the assertion that Expedition 33 did anything new, revelatory or somehow rescued this genre from whatever purgatory you all think it was in is utterly laughable.

Jason Rose

This is the sort it out that’s needed

Echo the Lies of P praise, what a great game and world. I think I agree that the game overstays its welcome towards the end and the end is also my least favourite part, prefer roaming the streets and outskirts rather than ascending what felt like a neverending tower. I just went back and got the platinum, will go for the DLC in the future but a really, really good game. We need more games like this in terms of scope and creativity.

BamAHamYum

Tell me Expedition 33 was your first JRPG without telling me Expedition 33 was your first JRPG. It’s an excellent game, no doubt. But saying that it made JRPGs “accessible and interesting” just shows me that you know nothing about the genre you’re making such a bold claim about.

Diddy’s Lube Guy

It absolutely was. The only other one I played and beat was The Stick of Truth. Also that Tell me Without telling Me thing was very clever, did you make that up?

Dante B

Unironically and proudly trolling in 2025 folks you love to see it. Very cool stuff.

I’m a Fitness Manager / I manage a team of 15 Personal Trainers at a commercial gym in Canada. I’m either listening while doing cardio, driving, or while gaming in my man cave after the kid goes to bed! Keep it up y’all. Big fan - we need to speak up more than the haters. 😝

Big Devin Energy

Also - Gene - stop apologizing for light spoilers or basic game info. If people really don’t want to hear anything about games they haven’t played then they shouldn’t listen to video game podcasts. To me a true spoiler is only an ending or a plot twist (think P4G or TLoU2) either than, how can you talk about games without saying shit about the game 🤷🏼‍♂️

PairOfShuse

Eh the talk about Stellar Blade was fairly reductive. The story was not bad. It wasn’t really anything specifically new but it was perfectly fine. I also don’t get where Stellar Blade only sold a million on console when it sold 2 million I believe because they just announced 3 million sales after the PC version came out. Regarding Sega, I’d love for them to revisit Valkyria Chronicles again. I don’t think 4 sold that well which is a shame because it was pretty great

My wafflehouse hashbrowns

Wow at 24:56 Gene park says I don’t wanna spoil the game . WOW now I know there’s things in the game that can be a spoiler ! GAME RUINED!!! Hahaha man it makes me laugh so much when people moan about spoilers Great pod dudes

Jordan Andrews

Gene being the LSM lorekeeper at 35:04 is such a highlight moment in this episode.

Your Boi Nicky V

It was insufferably bad for me, especially when they introduced that sidekick with the awful British accent.

Busting on an iPhone Duo and clapping it shut

For me, the lore and world were fairly compelling, but it just wasn’t properly utilized in the actual story of the game. Looking forward to the (hopefully) better story in the sequel. Also, maybe I just have a poor attention span, but Ergo Proxy went right over my head. I never really knew what was going on.

PairOfShuse

That’s definitely understandable. It wasn’t the greatest story in the world, it was pretty basic premise but I do think that it wasn’t bad or horrible when we have games that truly do have bad stories. But definitely agree that the world and the lore and atmosphere did carry it. Nah it’s not poor attention span. The basic story isn’t that complicated but it took me like three watches to really figure out everything that’s going on. It’s been a little while since I watched it as well so I forget some of the more complicated parts lol. It’s definitely a combination of complicated and maybe a little but of glossing over a few things in the series

Michael Mashpotato

Stellar Blade OST is awesome. I have no idea what they’re saying in some of those songs but I fucking love it lol. Tachy Mode and the Oasis theme come to mind.

Gamer-Man

Is Gene crashing out or what?

Deemac

These Xbox gamers (not all of course, but typically the most vocal online) don't seem to buy many games, and have a serious sense of entitlement that all these games should be on Gamepass It's incredible the amount of comments you see around 3rd party games and their attitude is "Oh I'll wait for that to come to Gamepass". Or the way they're not impressed the FF games don't just immediately appear on that service. Same thing with Black Myth Wukong, which is pretty funny after all the discourse around that game. Will be interesting to see sales numbers for that when it comes out on Xbox

BamAHamYum

Alright Schrödinger’s troll

Daniel

As an Xbox player I’d love to play ff16 but between wrapping up nightreign and overture I don’t have time and I’ve already spent the money I can for games for a few months

Jack Wittich

I gotta issue a SORT IT OUT to Gene...."you wouldn't want to play a turn based game full of parries for 100hrs, I straight up would not play Persona 6 if it had a parry system". Brother what???? Most of the complaints for long turn based games (myself included) is that most trash mob fights become boring as shit in the late game cuz you're so used to using the same commands on the same enemy groupings. The parry system makes battles way more engaging and was a big reason why I kept exploring every nook and cranny of Expedition 33. I know hes being flippant but like cmon man Imao

Jack Wittich

Consider: ff16 is 2 years old and has pretty considerable bad reception in terms of pacing and the plot falling off a cliff. It would have probably done better at launch if it also came out on xbox, but 2 years of people saying its a 90hr game with extreme highs and low lows is probably why its bombing on Xbox, not because of Xbox players themselves

Gene Park

i love how you’re misusing the phrase lol - g

Gene Park

that’s cool if you want that man. i’m just expressing my opinion. i like turn based games because they’re chill so chilling with trash mobs 90 hours in is my shit. i guess it ain’t yours but i won’t tell you to sort it out. keep it up. - g

Gene Park

wow what useful feedback
