Behold another episode of Constellation! This week, Colin welcomes Lockmort, Brad, and Hoeg to the show for a rousing conversation about a trio of topics. For instance: What would life have been like if we were born somewhere else? What could have we achieved, or how far could we have fallen? Also: What are some genre 'disconnects' we've experienced? In other words, what kind of media have we consumed about a topic, or set in a time, or about something we'd otherwise have no interest in? In addition: Are fireworks still a fun diversion and way to celebrate? Or is it all feeling just a little bit old at this point?Timestamps:

I have a fresh take on fireworks. My oldest son is 3 and a half and I let him stay up for fireworks for the first time this 4th. And let me tell you- I got to experience the thrill and joy of fireworks for the first time all over again. My son was cheering hysterically and clapping in between each explosion, coming up with names for each different type, and shouting out colors he saw with complete glee. I thought I was personally over fireworks- but no, I just got a new lease on fireworks. The magic lives on, even in our digital dystopias

Michael McCoy

Personally, I hate fireworks due to how much they scare pets. I saw a drone show that was pet friendly and I thought that was really cool.

Clayton Garrett

I'm going to assume Hoeg is referencing the 1987 Michigan Statehood Sesquicentennial.

People come to America and Western European countries because they're escaping decades(sometimes centuries) of Western medding, interference, and war in their home countries. It's something we don't seem to take into consideration when demanding people need to assimilate to Western culture. It's not the 18 and 1900s anymore when Western Europeans were migrating to America because they believed in the idea of America.

Brandon Tyler

Why come to a country that gives you a second chance that they don’t have to give and not assimilate? I could never imagine going to another country and not at least respecting the culture and trying to learn the language.

Girth Brooks

Colin, it’s time to stop tiptoeing around those who cling to bitter ideologies. Be unapologetically yourself and say what you know in your heart—America is extraordinary. You don’t need to dilute your patriotism or offer half-hearted disclaimers just to appease those who find offense in pride and gratitude. Speak with conviction. Let your words reflect the truth you live by.

Girth Brooks

These types of people always have an angle. No matter what the situation, they’ll find a way to say it’s America’s fault. This way they can feel morally superior to those who aren’t so bitter. Pay them no mind, but save some room for pitty. It’s all they have.

Ed

smh

twodaydrunk

You’re being facetious, right? He talks about it all the time lol.

Girth Brooks

Yeah yeah yeah. We all knew you’d show up.

Girth Brooks

Yeah but he’s nervous to, and always provides caveats. He knows way too many of yall dwell in them reddit streets.

Lockmort

Awww, that's awesome! -Lock

Ed

Sure thing, boss. If your ideological bubble ever pops, look up the countries people are fleeing and (since I can't imagine you read) ask your favorite AI if America and/or whatever Western European nation has meddled in said country.

Derek Alcott

Hoeg, I just watched Kpop demon hunters with my daughter and I was shocked how much I liked it. It's so funny you brought that movie up lol

Frank G.

We get it. Nobody likes L.A but love to fucken talk about it.

Jason Bolla

Hoeg brings up Bluey so often, I'm ready for it to be a topic. I understand no one will really have anything to say about it, so maybe it'd be kids shows, or entertainment for kids knowing adults will be watching it too.

IronLion44

San Clemente is wild for fireworks. Wife and I passed out on our outdoor patio furniture after watching the fireworks shoot off the pier. Yes. We were responsibly drinking all day. But the illegal fireworks continued all through the night and woke me up at 3am. Since they are illegal, the cops were flying helicopters all over the sky trying to find the people lighting them off. Closest to feeling like I’m in a war zone I will hopefully ever feel.

Bogey

As someone with an infant, Bluey is legit incredible. Seriously, they’re 8 minute episodes. I highly recommend just checking a few episodes here and there out. They’re all great

Bogey

Brad I say this with love and with the caveat that I know I would be terrible on mic for hours at a time and nowhere near your level, but please try to stop saying “I don’t know” after every single sentence it’s getting really grating.

Trill Spencer

Yo Collin, if you want your mind blown, there aren’t 2 million people on LI. There are actually over 8mil if you include queens & Brooklyn.

NeO JD

Already like Survivor but now I’ll add Australian Survivor to the list. 😅

Michael Hedrick

If Lock would ever send you an invoice for the services he’s done for you then he’d be a millionaire and just fine lol. Also, I hate fireworks. Sorry Brad. My cat has seizures and it’s hell on him

Dresk47

Dudes proud of the Walmart supercenter, 2 ton pickup truck, and fox news culture that America has gifted the world. Good on you, but couldn't be me.

SneakerHead24

Lock, just bill Colin for all the work you do for his company! Based on what he constantly tells the audience, that sum of money should keep you from living paycheck to paycheck and he seems to have more than enough to go around and doesn’t know what to do with it all so it’s a win win.

Kojima Made Me Gay

Japan is a nice ass country. I’d obviously prefer North Korea or China, myself. Both are very clean and full of good people.

Daddy T

I know Stelly is done now but just getting around to listening, hearing Colin talking about Cork for more than two seconds is a bit mad as a native lol, up the rebels, he should make the trip sometime

Unmodified Gentleman

Wow such a shame this show is over the last one with Chris was so fucking hilarious I’m gonna miss the Dagster
