Everybody's Looking For the Same Thing | Sacred Symbols, Episode 384

For those with specific use cases, the PlayStation Portal has always been awesome. But Sony has been quietly bolstering the device over the last two years, and with its newest update, it's become more powerful than ever. Those with a PS+ Essential subscription can now purchase and stream nearly 3,000 games directly to the device without any sort of console tether, a major step-up for a peripheral once reliant on PS5. What's it all mean for the future of PlayStation? We discuss! Plus: New cross-buy tags on PSN indicate Sony is preparing some sort of PC launcher, dynamic pricing on the PlayStation Store has some customers in a tizzy, Dan Houser spills the beans on Rockstar's cancelled PS3-exclusive spy thriller Agent, Marvel looks to stick with Sony-owned Insomniac for a long time to come, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Does Colin have any reflections on GameFAQs as it turns 30? What constitutes a good in-game map? How has our gaming behavior changed over the years? Who's most likely to want to blow into the DualSense microphone to light fires in Ghost of Yotei, even if they don't have to? Follow the hosts! I am loving the update to the playstation portal! Cloud streaming works really well. It's made me pick up the portal again. Something you can't get anywhere else: rumble feature on classic games on the go, like RE2 classic. I had always wanted this feature on previous playstation handhelds.

start a infection

The plan for the PlayStation pc storefront/launcher is to have people use it on the next Xbox, that audience won’t have ties to steam so they’re on equal footing

Lol Colin was right, Brave is the browser you want. But that's it, I'm pretty sure the ad block is on by default. No extra steps. I just use YT from the Brave browser not the YT app. I have a tab that is always on YT so I don't have to type it in each time, and I'm signed in like I would be anywhere else.

Stinkling

everytime i hear about the portal i roll my eyes. The thing is useless without a PS5 and internet, who wants a handheld thats a brick as soon as they leave the house? Wasnt the wii u enough?

Brian Cecchinato

Props to Chris for sticking the podcast out. I can clearly hear his voice get worse the longer it goes on. Dudes a champ👍

Brent Mahaffey

This. I made a shortcut on my phone (iOS) to open YouTube in Brave too, so it can just sit on my home screen like the native app.

Black Detective in Dexter

It got an update. You can stream games from the internet. No PS5 required. Still not as reliable as a native handheld though.

Anthony Wertman

Anyone else get a error when downloading. iOS

Germanos

The Dual Sense gimmicks in Ghost of Yotei are cool. More of those in games please!

Surge!

Metal Man Moriarty if it's a boy. Think about it Colin.

The GreenManGaming model is simple. Steam allows publishers to create Steam keys to hand out or resell elsewhere. When a Steam key is sold off of the Steam store, Valve forfeits the 30% marketing cut. TLDR, Valve takes a 0% cut for Steam keys sold elsewhere

somar

yea but steams terms don’t allow selling the steam key outside their store for a lower price

RearedSquare

If you read it, it’s definitely more open/loose language than that. Not so black and white

What happened to this episode? I cannot find it anywhere on YouTube.

Matt Hartzell

False alarm. Some weirdness with my internet connection.
