Xbox's big bet for bringing PCs to the living room has officially been undercut. This week, Valve announced three (!) different pieces of hardware. First, there is the Steam Machine, which serves as the strongest competitor to consoles. While still very much a PC, the Steam Machine packs a lot of punch for a small device and could be a force if priced well. Second, a brand new VR headset in the Steam Frame. Despite Meta having massive first-party support, Valve has decided to challenge a space that many of us thought was finished growing. Third, and finally, is a Steam Controller. It's horrendous looking and makes the Duke look ergonomic. How does Valve's aggressive hardware plans disrupt Xbox and does any lingering appeal for the PC in the living room by Xbox remain? The Dukes unite and dive straight in.

Well on the plus side you guys now know what type of format you can pivot to when xbox dies. Welcome to the Full Steam Aheadcast.

Valve is a private company with small expenses and their primary objective is not to make shareholders profits like Xbox which is an overpriced console losing players exponentially everyday. Goodbye forever Xbox we are going to pc . I sold mine after Starfield came out for a ps5 and I’ll sell tha for the valve box

Big titty drinker

Gonna be funny watching all the Xbox refugees run to the steam box. Hopefully that iteration isn’t as toxic and retarded as the current Xbox fanbase is lol

thesonofit

Nice to see Matty so happy again. It's an interesting shadow drop of a machine and this competition will benefit us all.

Introducing the next Xbox: Gabecube

Cog trying to say Matty looks like Steve Buscemi during the hair conversation and Matty not picking up on it has me rolling

Digital foundry said its better than a Series S, but weaker than a PS5/series X. Its also not future proofed at all. This thing sells 10, maybe 15 million units tops in its life time. If it ain't in retail stores. Even if it is... Still nit gonna sell crazy. Save this.

Gabe Horn

I think people are focusing on the wrong thing with the Steam Machine. The point isnt for it to sell 100 million units. It's essentially a proof of concept to demonstrate how SteamOS can provide a console-like experience with all the benefits of PC.

One of my questions is will steam os anti cheat be compatible for cod and bf mp right out of the box on the steam machine? Also will fortnite be playable on there also?

The Corn Rocket

If steam is chasing more casual audiences, why would Half Life 3 matter? The PC die hards will care and they will play it on their custom made PCs. Casuals don't care about Half Life.

BigDumbStupidIdiot

The Gabebox and new Microsoft Gaming console are going to put up Wii U numbers because they're targeting a niche audience

Donald's Cloaca

They are truly Redefining Duke with that controller.

Russell Robinson

Yeah Brad is "taking his time" with Trails. Matty ain't lying, that's damn sure code for playing other shit.😆

Great ep. The power of the Gabecube and potential pricing are what I’m worried about, but besides that, I think I’m in. Very interested in seeing where this leads. #SteamDD

DogMeat

To get them interested and the foot in the door. Lots of console gamers who have never played half life but could with this introduction

DogMeat

Real gamers don't gaf about that 🤪

Have to disagree totally with Cog on the new Steam Controller. It definitely isn’t pretty, but it’s basically exactly what Steam Deck fans who enjoy the trackpads and other unique control features have been clamoring for for PC gaming. I have a more powerful gaming PC already (and a Steam Deck), and 100% want that controller while I’m not interested in the Steam Machine.

Mr. Scott If You're Nasty

I hate it. Fully on board with the Cog on this. Looks like my hands will be hitting other stuff all the time

Mr. Scott If You're Nasty

LoL does this dude have a mirror in the house? You are what you "worry" about. You're on an Xbox centered pod and all you do is troll people who like this system.
