As was originally reported, Xbox brought out a Partner Preview in November. It was chockful of everything strange like a co-op alien shop simulator or a thuggish rabbit beating up baddies to more traditional first person horror titles. The catch was that every game we saw throughout was a Play Anywhere title, a program that many of Xbox's players still yearn for the platform to leverage more. All in all, the Dukes enjoyed the show, especially given it dropped ahead of the biggest show of the year in the Game Awards where announcements are typically prioritized. Beyond that, we dive deep into the Valve rumor mill. Half Life 3 is everywhere! Is it finally happening and are the Dukes believers? We get into that plus updated thoughts on the Steam Machine now that we've had some time to digest the triple-whammy Valve hit us with last week.Timestamps:0:00:00 - Intro

Matty, you make the same point as Gene regarding the Charlie Cox nomination. I’m sorry, but why the fuck does it invalidate his performance just because he isn’t excessively into the fandom and discourse around the project? He delivered his performance, as a professional - that’s the fucking job, brother. The job isn’t to go out to bat for the game and engage in the fandom because people can’t compartmentalise a character and their actor. His performance, divorced from his indifference towards the broader narrative and cultural impact, is great. I loved Gustave’s character, and don’t give a fuck that the actor isnt out signing Gustav funko pops. Such a weird take.

Damn Cog getting hit with micro transactions at dinner.

It’s worth mentioning that ROG expecting their Ally lineup to make $100 to $160 million in revenue means that they expected to sell 100k to 200k units since the more expensive one is the more popular one and the more expensive one costs $1000. It’s good that they’re beating that expectation, but unless I’m misreading the numbers, that sounds like less than half what steam deck sold over the same time frame.

Arc Raiders not getting the goty nom is insane. Gay fucking indie games that Reddit brains need to circle jerk to

It would be unrealistic for then to expect Steam Deck level sales.

I have to respectfully put something in here about Sony: A lot of people were calling out Sony when they moved their headquarters from Japan to California due to censorship of Japanese games. It got handwaved by EVERYONE, including most of, if not all of, Last Stand. Ever since PS4 and the move to California, censorship of media on the platform ramped up. Then it also became industry wide. This is due in large part to platform rules put out and activists getting into the companies. On top of this, Japanese developers were saying if someone needed changed due to censorship, when they tried to contact Sony, they were forced to contact them on English for their concerns. When censorship comes, it always turns into something else and this is why Japan is in the situation it’s in, and why we get the types of games Sony does now and I truly believe let to downstream choices such as the games as a service initiative.

Once they announced BO7 as a direct sequel to BO2 without any plans to remaster the BO1/BO2 campaigns my spidey senses went off. I now can see why

I don't think of the mobile move as something they had to have on PlayStation. Nintendo didn't out their .mobile game on switch. They are trying to tap into the China mobile market. It's not an Xbox situation

episode is jam packed with news and content. really enjoyed the "what we're playing" and xbox partner segments (last 2 parts of the show). Man cog you got me curious now to try arc raiders solo. i'm not a multiplayer guy.
