Two months ago, a now-fired Sucker Punch developer lost her job due to an ill-timed social media post, and she's been fairly quiet ever since, at least until now. In a new article, artist Drew Harrison talks about what befell her, but -- truth be told -- she seems to have missed the biggest part of her own story: How much she could have (and did) harm the hundreds of other people that worked for years on Ghost of Yotei, only to disrupt the entire marketing roll-out of the game on the precipice of its hyped release. I am trying to download this episode on Apple Podcasts yet it continues to say it is a download error. This is now happening weekly on different episodes. I’ve tried deleting the apple podcast app and redownloading it. Yet to no avail. The Xbox Defining Duke show downloaded fine yesterday yet for some reason this won’t download. It gets to the end of the download and then the error pops up. Anyone have any ideas what is happening?

Not to be a wet blanket, but the Speranza watch list thing is completely fake and they say so on the site. Basically you can just type in literally any name and a four digit number (search for MasterGamer6969 or whatever) and it will generate a report every time. It’s just for yucks.

I want to start off by saying I am not a fan of smash jt or whoever Colin debated and I do believe he’s a troll. That said, Colin’s opinion saying just because it made back money that it’s an extreme success is kinda naive in my opinion. The hype of ghost of yotei is completely dead and I’d be surprised if it even surpasses 5 million sales. For a Sony studios game that is weak whether it made money or not. Most companies want to beat sales. I work at a store and we don’t just want to make profit every year but we want to BEAT last years totals. The sales are 100% disappointing to Sony and I really don’t understand Colin’s opinion. I actually really enjoy ghost of yotei but i just think it’s weird to defend the numbers like it’s an amazing success. We all know it wasn’t. Seems odd to me. In 2017 less than 2% of Xbox players engaged with backwards compatible games. There is very little market for it and I can see why PS3 fans would not be a priority for Sony. I say this as someone that plays a lot of old games on Series X.

If you Google it there are multiple stories that only 1.5% of players engaged with backwards compatible games from the Xbox and Xbox 360. Others say time from a sample group. Xbone and PS4 don’t count in this discussion because it was SPECIFICALLY about PS3. I’m a data analyst for a big corporation. I think I can read statistics fine and don’t need to be a jerk about it. Either way, my point stands. Very little usage. The people that listen to this podcast are probably core gamers that care, but 95%+ don’t care.

For the write in by The Lord's Ship, not sure if you will see this but Dustin, if you could pass it along (Also I would recommend this channel to your wife as well) I would recommend the channel Jenna Phipps, seeing the journey of their house reno has been really inspiring to my wife and I that we started our own reno projects. Jenna and Nick do a great job of what Dustin said, having some character. It is slow progress for us because its not our full time thing like them but seeing her videos these past 2 years (every week) has kept us going. There style seems like a good model of how to do a channel like that. Anywho best of luck!

The issue is the right gets heavily punished and basically kicked out just for having normal right wing views. Like the tripwire ceo and such. You don’t get punished in the dev circles for just having hateful views mostly. This is one of the few times I seen someone get punished and it had to be so abhorrent that they let it go. You can say whatever you want about the right they basically get just desserts externally and internally. But it’s very acceptable to just be hatful on the left. This is a horrible forum to discuss particulars. I am also an Independent. I also don’t think the right has been normal at all the last decade. I do think there is a growing cultural shift because the internet has shown that lots of different types of people exist with lots of different views that no one discussed in the past. Some good. Some bad. But there seems to be a very loud group of people that don’t want to evolve and another group of loud people that don’t understand the repercussions of moving too fast. We also live in an environment where no one wants to compromise or discuss things. It’s all zero sum arguments for ‘clicks’.

So it’s nimby central here and tbh they do have me way more worried on a daily bases. I go to Chicago and I don’t recognize it. I also make art. Creatives are weird. Have to be. Only way you get interesting stories. Also need empathy to see different perspectives. That’s what producers are for. Reign in creatives. I honestly see the “culture war” as just capitalism. Produced art, which is most of the art we consume, also has a business side that expects a return on investment. We saw a lot of fallout from MeToo and BLM and that’s what studios thought people want. But creatives have always been liberal. Companies still haven’t learned to stop listening to vocal minorities online. I honestly think most people don’t care. Conservatives have been complaining about Hollywood forever. Also, AAA games have to appeal to the most amount of people so they can make money. It’s why AAA games and blockbuster movies, etc., rarely really say something.
