Omg Colin 52 games this year is wild! I’m a full time manager with 2 kids and I game a couple hours every day! I have only beaten 2 games this year - I am Setsuna (Plat) and Sea of Stars. Now I’m playing FFVII Rebirth. I’m so behind on games. Interstitially I always play games like Balatro and Vampire Survivors for fun but man it’s impossible to keep up anymore. My backlog hasn’t even made it up to 2025 yet! Lol

Trails in the sky was originally one game that's been split into two 😅. That's why "the final fight" (but more specifically, the ending) is the reason people cite as being where the hooks sink in. Its because its the midpoint of the game as it was originally designed before being split into two separare entries, and sold on their own.

I mean, I don’t “have to” listen to anything. Far too much of an investment to even begin this is where I land. More things to listen to, do etc. just too long. Everything needs an editor, podcasts are no different. I don’t need 2 Dan Carlin Hardcore History audiobook investments for GOTY but by all means, enjoy how you will. I’m sure there’s some shows you don’t partake in.

I really dont understand Genes perspective that those that didnt like the backtracking or boss runbacks in Silksong "dont like Metroidvania games". Ive played so many of them, including like 100 hours of Hollow Knight. I objectively like Metroidvania games. I just didnt like THIS one, because those elements became exhausting to me. If "thats what they were going for", then it wasnt for me, and I dont need to "meet them where they are" or something by continuing to play what I became tired of. Such a weird perspective.

I felt the same about him ranting about those who didn’t like Silent Hill F because it required a second playthrough. Come to think of it, seemed like each game on Gene’s list came with a knock on the people who didn’t like said game. He was on one in this episode.

Chris, genuine question. Has your love for gaming taken a hit? I can’t help but feeling it must have, the amount of games you don’t finish is quite a bit. Atomfall and KOTOR from the video come to memory. Genuinely not a dig, just curious.
