The holiday season is here, which means we're off for a bit. But, of course, new episodes never cease rolling out! Thus, we've arrived at the first of our two Christmastime traditions: Recounting the most consequential 'moments' in the world of PlayStation and beyond for the past calendar year. As usual, we've each selected five choices for 15 total, and they touch on topics like the first concrete rumors surrounding PlayStation 6, Helldivers 2's surprise migration to Xbox as Microsoft itself brings its whole slate of games to PS5, multiple Grand Theft Auto VI delays, the reemergence of Insomniac's Wolverine, Hermen Hulst's sudden demotion, Sony suing Tencent over the blatant Horizon ripoff Light of Motiram, and much more. I feel like GTA 6 has to have 60fps performance mode. Rockstar has to know that a 60fps performance mode is basically standard this generation and players have become accustomed to it.

Definitely not, it’s Rockstar. There’s still not even a 60fps patch for RDR2. I hope i’m wrong but I would put a lot of cash on it being locked at 30fps

Right, but RDR2 was released on PS4 when games were primarily 30fps. That's what gamers were used to at the time. Nobody expected 60fps. There's been a 60fps performance mode in basically every triple a game released on PS5. People expect it now. The landscape has changed. Hopefully Rockstar realizes this.

Maybe, and it is a big maybe....they will be able to use the next iteration of PSSR to hit 60fps on the Pro (I'd settle for 40). Not holding my breath, though. Im one of those weirdos that never liked the last GTA until the first person mode came out (same with Res Dead 2). So I'm hoping for 60fps and First Person. I suspect I'll be disappointed on both accounts

Was talking w a friend about this. Ive been playing 60fps on console for so long now that it feels absolutely unplayable to play something at 30fps now. I imagine Im not the only one. I wonder if GTA6 does only have 30fps and no PC version at launch, if the performance will hurt the reception of it. I get that itll be 30fps because of the level of simulation and graphical fidelity, but I very much doubt people will excuse 30fps in exchange for those things.

New rockstar games are one of the only things that still genuinely remind me of what loving games as a kid were like. I don’t think many, if any, games have that excitement factor of showing you ‘the future’. When I saw the new trailer for GTA6 I remember exactly the same feeling when I saw GTA4 for the first time as a kid and it’s magical.

I don't understand why Colin thinks GTA has to be good because of the amount of money thrown at it. That just doesn't matter. Maybe they keep throwing money at it because it wasn't working and they need it to be better? Im not saying the game will be bad by any means. Just that money does not equal quality in any business. For All we know it could end up being the Waterworld videogames (doubtful, but possible)
