I feel like the positivity here about the Pokémon releases is definitely a “Disney Vault” effect. I’m not even mad about it, I more find it completely laughable to charge $20 a piece for unaltered 25-year old roms of possibly THE most widely emulated games in history (FireRed is the basis for most popular fan hacks). For the record, I personally own these games on original carts and several official (GBA/DS) and unofficial (Analogue Pocket, etc) ways to play them. Despite that, I personally don’t at all mind buying or rebuying readily-available-by-other-means classic games, but they have to either be reasonably priced or bring something new to the table (new translations, collections, museum features, online play, etc). Compared with other classic rereleases, this falls far short of that. If/when they get to releasing the DS games, will they be $40?? If Pokémon fans had a modicum of standards or self control to not put up with this nonsense, they would be treated a lot better.

Thanks for the recommendations Brad! I just signalled Micah out for recommendations becasue I had been speaking to her! I still value your opinion!

Dude, it's $20. What are we talking about? It's the first time we've had access to these games on a modern console in over a decade. You're mad over a series you don't even like. Stand down.

Stand down yourself. Who said I don’t like them? I own almost every game (both versions) physically. I mentioned having these games specifically and also said I’m not mad but amused in my post above you didn’t read. I’ll be getting Pokopia Day 1. I even liked Legends Z-A a lot more than folks like Brad. $20 is just a boondoggle for a low effort release like this and some minimal extra effort would have been nice. That’s fine if you’re willing to pay it, but there’s zero chance I will. They also practically admitted there’s no reason to not handle this like other GBA releases on NSO beyond knowing they can gouge Pokémon fans as much as they want with little criticism.

By the way, I should add clarification that the “Disney Vault” effect I referenced, in case you don’t know, is when Disney would hold back their classic movies from home release so that when they did release them on VHS they could treat it like an event and charge a premium. You saying $20 is nothing since we haven’t had these games officially for so long is entirely consistent with that analogy. (Sorry for the double post)

Eating a burrito with foil and complaining that it breaks up when you don’t have a foil on it that’s a skill issue, my dude

Moe’s > Qdoba > Chipotle. Chipotle is by no means bad. Moe’s gets bonus points for the Seinfeld references on the menu items
