As the "Curse of the Dukes" continues, we have another massive reveal that occurred so quickly after our latest episode of the show was produced. In the last week, we've learned a lot about Xbox's direction for their future and, to their credit, they're being incredibly direct about it. Introducing Project Helix: the codename for Xbox's next bit of hardware that is capable of playing your PC and console games. Following the announcement, they revealed a chockful of information on their plans at this year's Game Developer Conference. "Xbox Full Screen Experience" has evolved into "Xbox Mode" and that arrives on PC in April. After months of testing on the Xbox Ally, Xbox deems this feature ready for the big leagues. As for the next Xbox itself, alpha versions of the hardware will be out by early 2027 for developers. Is it possible we also see a retail release by holiday 2027? Best of all, there is a tease of more to come with Xbox's backwards compatibility program which has lied dormant for years. Is it possible they have additions in store or maybe (just maybe) achievements being added to classic games? Will these classic games be native to the platform or just streamed? Indeed, there are many questions surrounding the brand, but the wind is blowing in a positive direction for them and that's mostly due to seemingly having their ducks in a row on just how they wanted to communicate what their plans actually are. RIP Bozo Microsoft

Master Rahl

What am I hearing in the background??

Bogey

There’s a LOT of background noise. I can’t tell who’s end it’s on, but it just sounds like there’s a room full of people talking in the next room over

Pan Ic

Cog is at GDC

Gooch Gobbler

Are y'all dumb? Cog clearly said he is at GDC

Bogey

Ah okay makes sense

Tanner Triv

i notice this on almost every LSM podcast that multiple people ask questions that are answered within the podcast, a lot of times within the first 5 mins lol. It’s literally the first thing they talk about in this episode.

Gooch Gobbler

It’s literally in the background!

Tanner Triv

i’m on audio, but yeah point stands even more lolol

Bisexual Lighting Rigger

Xbox seems to be making smart moves on paper. They are trying to make it so easy to put games on their new console that you would be a fool not to. Helix might end up being like the premium version of the Steam machine.

Casey Cieslikowski

Audio is terrible Cog sounds like he is in a cafeteria. Can we just have Brad fill in this week and catch up with Cog next week?

Philip

lol you hear background noise like twice. It’s not bad at all. Life must be difficult for you if you complain over that. Stand down.

Walk Forward Cutscene

As discussed on the Iron Lords this week, sounds like a bunch of buff dudes in Cog’s Hotel room! But the audio was fine for most of the episode.

Mr. Scott If You're Nasty

Matty, people online taking personal or venemous shots are stupid and should be ignored. However, I think maybe you're not being introspective about yourself. I think anyone listening to you the last year correctly assumed that the ok post was snarky and said with a little sarcasm. That's been your content for almost a year. If you were trying to be positive, you needed to make that much clearer. Sort of enjoyed the micro Duke episode. Maybe because it was a little positive for once haha. #DDGDC
