Please welcome indie developer Matt Kap to Sacred+. I (Colin) invited Matt onto the show because I recently fell in love with his wonderful game Lovish, and I wanted to gush about it with him. But Matt's Canadian indie outfit LABS Works has done more than just Lovish, with Castle in the Darkness and Astalon: Tears of the Earth also in their catalog. Together, we discuss a lot of interesting topics, especially if you -- like us -- are either in indie dev, or interested in the space. What's it like working with a publisher, and where and how do you find one? Is self-publishing better than working with a partner? How does one market their game in such a saturated field? Are younger players completely uninterested in retro-style wares? All of that, plus our love of games like Kid Icarus, Actraiser, Metroid, Adventures of Lolo, Faxanadu, and more, all on the other side of the play button.

Looking forward to listening to this. I bought Lovish after hearing Colin talk about it on Sacred and thought it was fantastic!

Man, you guys made a great point. Lovish has been on my wishlist since Colin first mentioned it; but now the purchase is made and my adventure begins as soon as this download is completed.

This was a great interview and it seemed like you both had a lot of chemistry. Would be nice to see you guys stay in touch and possibly work together at some point. I just purchased lovish and am excited to play!

Have you guys heard of a nice little indie game called Lovish? It is the best.

Finally got around to listening to this. Excellent episode. Kudos to Matt for being an ace. Astalon and Lovish are fantastic! Please try to have more conversations with indie game devs. Very informative, relatable, and fun to listen to.

I recently got the platinum trophy for Lovish, and I wanted to circle back to this episode to express my thanks to Matt Kapp for making such a great game, and to Colin for putting it on my radar. The soundtrack is proper brilliant, and I was happily grinding the last social media contact, humming along with the music. Thank you both!
