Sacred x Duke: Can Xbox Really Turn Things Around? | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 520

It's me, Colin. Please welcome the hosts of Last Stand's Xbox podcast Defining Duke -- Matty and Cog -- back to Sacred+. Today, I invited the boys to the show with intent. After all, Xbox recently had a successful showcase, the brand is returning to some level of exclusivity, and the fanbase is feeling good about the vertical's new leadership under Asha Sharma. Yet, there are questions abound, and frankly, Microsoft's win condition in the modern gaming industry seems as elusive as ever. Do the guys agree with me? There's only one way to find out. To delve into the many parts of the conversation, I presented them with a series of axioms about Xbox that I deem true, but they may not. From there, the chatter sprouts. This is a long and winding episode; chances are, you're gonna love it.

I genuinely hope that Xbox can figure it out. I want a competitive Xbox again, but I just don’t think they can jumpstart their console again. It feels like the headwinds are too strong.

Who uploaded this with the wrong intro? /s

Jared A.

I'd love to see a scared episode structured similarly with plantation axioms

From here on out, nothing but vanilla intro's! (since I don't have the special crossover one) - Lock

Great convo boys, do more of these once every 6 months or so please.

LSM content is just pure fire , thank you all for putting out great stuff , real talk and important interesting conversations

Xbox fanboys on Twitter supported and propagated every bad decision that lead Xbox to this point. Gamepass is the future, game sales don't matter, exclusives don't matter, console sales don't matter, endless acquisitions etc. Seeing everyone try to back track has been entertaining

Xbox either manages their decline to become a third party publisher or they take a huge risk and go all-in on Game Pass. 1. License Xbox OS to OEMs (consoles, handhelds, streaming devices, etc.) 2. Make Xbox Game Pass the core product 3. Stop selling games à la carte 4. Make first party games exclusive to Xbox Game Pass 5. Get most major publishers to release on Game Pass day one 6. Allow subscribers to earn ownership credit toward a specific game over time based on: * active subscription tenure * meaningful playtime * engagement across multiple sessions * game category 7. Subordinate the Xbox Store for secondary purchases * premium editions * DLC and expansions * cosmetics and battle passes * publisher monetization beyond the subscription

Are you signaling a gay intro ?

Matthew ball was an NFT bro. Wrote the book on why the metacerse is the future, lol. Ya,Cog. He really knows whats up

Matthew Skora

I get that Cog likes transparency from Xbox, and PlayStation could definitely talk a little more. But what’s the point of this “transparency” when you can’t trust a word anybody from Xbox says? They’re constantly contradicting themselves and making more problems for themselves.

Let's talk some shit bout XBOOOOOOOOOOOOX!

Mats position on same same PS games along with time to develop holds no water if you push him even a little bit on his tastes the hypocrisy that permeates his position. Just say you’re not into it instead of trying to validate your opinion with reason. It’s emotional, obviously because your reasoning falls flat since it doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s a shame. Anyway here’s to another Xbox reset championed by the usual suspects. It’s going to work this time.

Blind Wave

Did they record this before the news of the layoffs and studio closures come out?
