Man, I was going into 9th grade when ES6 was announced. My friends and I watched Bethesda’s E3 conference live. I’m now going into my senior year of college, and I’m graduating 2 semesters later than I should be.

The sales numbers for ES 6 won’t be great. They will flatline. Game will have came out several years too late. An entire generation of gamers between 5 and 6.

It’s nice to see that the studio that made the best fallout game is getting it back. Fallout 4 and Starfield have gone to show that Todd Howard and Bethesda don’t have a fucking clue.

Im so excited Obsidian is making a Fallout game especially led by Josh Sawyer. I like Avowed and The Outer Worlds 1 and 2, there are elements of all of them that I really love but the worlds were always the least interesting part for me. The companions always had so much weight on them mainly because the established worlds were not as compelling. So for them to bring the lessons of their recent games back to the wonderful universe of Fallout, makes me so happy.

Cog continuing to defend Avowed is such a weird hill to die on. It’s one of the most mid games of all time. Not good, not bad, just content to consume. Saying that it’s one of the best action rpgs going on right now is genuinely insane. Why does the consumer need to care if the development cycle was terrible? The game as it came out was still mid to bad. Also comparing Avowed to Fallout is also wild considering even during the time the first Fallout games were considered fantastic, while I’ve never seen an Avowed fan besides Cog. I love him to death, but this is easily his worst take of all time.

Why should Xbox keep the fight going to be a platform? It felt like they were transitioning back to what players wanted for a moment, but it’s clear the math doesn’t math. Focus on Windows, make that a viable competitor to SteamOS and Publish Great Games. I feel like a new console generation is just a big expensive distraction.

I keep forgetting lord Beefy lives in Jersey City as well. Because I literally woke in sweating like crazy, only to realize the the whole block lost power lol. It took three hours to get it back on 😭

Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird to describe selling off 5 teams as “a PR win”? I’m imagining going back to 2018 when all these studios were purchased and telling myself: “Get excited! All of these newly purchased teams will release on average 1 mediocre game over the next 8 years and then XBox will sell them off. But don’t worry. XBox might’ve wasted 8 years of time for all of these studios, but these studios will get to keep their IP when everything is said and done!” No hate. Just sharing my thoughts. Keep being my favorite podcast Dukes!

I haven’t had an Xbox since the 360, but I love this show. That said, even if they took fallout and elder scrolls exclusive, which I love, that wouldn’t get me to buy their console. Microsoft is just all over the place, and I don’t trust them.

Soo pathetic it took all this time to get Obsidian on Fallout. It's not even Todd's baby, if anything Obsidian has more of the original minds behind it, and BGS hasn't made a good game in the franchise since 2008.

It’s definitely better that they aren’t closing these studios down. And I’ll agree that the handling of Bluepoint by Sony was worse than any of these studios because Bluepoint was shut down. My point was just that it sounds like people are treating this like an overall win, when really it’s more like making the best of a bad situation.
