Monroe’s Girthy Doctrine

Hi C, C, and Daddy D, Writing in with a potential correction, Colin you’ve mentioned on the past two Sacred episodes that Mouse PI has made $100 million in revenue (in reference to the video game crash of the 1980’s cratering the industry). This number seems astronomically high for Mouse PI, which retails at $30 and is sitting at around 1 million units sold across console and PC, that would net out to around $21 million after taking out the 30% cut from PlayStation and Steam. Let’s blame it on not having Lockmort as a producer, although Belgians aren’t known for their math skills.

C2D, First, congratulations to Dustin and Holly on the new addition to the family! Really happy for you both. With all the discussion around Sony moving away from physical games, I’ve wondered if I’m being too accepting of where things are going. I understand why Dustin and others are unhappy, but I wasn’t shocked or particularly upset. It felt like something we’d been moving toward for years. I grew up buying, borrowing, lending, and trading physical games. A few games I loaned never came back (along with a black DualShock controller I’m apparently still waiting on), and I regret trading in others. Eventually I decided that if I bought a game, I was keeping it. As I’ve gotten older, the group I exchanged games with has mostly disappeared, so digital simply made that easier. I understand the concerns about preservation, pricing, and losing the ability to transfer purchases. But PC gaming has been overwhelmingly digital for years, and PlayStation players have increasingly chosen digital themselves. I’m also less worried about Sony eventually taking purchased games away. After years of building a digital library, isn’t that library itself one of Sony’s best tools for keeping us in its ecosystem? Undermining confidence in those purchases seems almost suicidal. I’ve seen people canceling PS Plus in protest, but if they’re simply turning off renewal, wouldn’t they remain subscribers until their already-paid time expires? It may take a while before we know whether the backlash actually changes customer behavior. So, am I being too comfortable with all of this? And if the numbers ultimately don’t move, would you be willing to conclude that, however much we may dislike the decision, PlayStation customers effectively chose this future themselves?

Hey kings, Do you guys have any game mechanics, big or small, that you wish didn't exist? Or rather any mechanics that you just don't like seeing in games? For example, I absolutely hate when games have the camera auto-center on your character, especially if there's no way to toggle it off. Playing a game like the new PS5 release of Darksiders II is a miserable experience as i'm constantly fighting with the camera just to see anything. The idea of having that auto-camera on with no way to turn it off should've died out in the PS3 generation but somehow it remains to many games today. Anything mechanics or settings that you wish would simply go away? Love you all....so very, very much! Steve Carley Wixom, Michigan

Good day Last Stand crew, I just wanted to start by shouting out the Sacred Plus episode with Colin and Matty on physical games. Differing opinions, and the subsequent open discussions, are the heart of good podcasting. I was pleased to find such discussions in the episode, and encourage anyone interested in a more robust conversation to check it out. Even in this more in depth episode, one point I haven’t heard discussed is that consumers who prefer physical media are likely spending considerably on digital as well. We don’t know if Sony is spinning the narrative, deploying bots, sponsoring stories etc. What I think we do know is that Sony DESPARETLY needs people to believe that voting with their wallet won’t change anything. I think this is the case assuming only the 20% physical that has been circulating. This 20% is (intentionally?) misleading though and ignores the full calculus of potential loss. Allow me, if I may, to present a case study. I buy and play many games. I buy physical whenever possible, but also purchase a large number of digital games on PSN. So far, in 2026, I have purchased 30 games on PlayStation. 12 of these were physical and 18 were digital. One of these was Saint Slayer! Overall I spent $508.92 on physical and $442.95 on digital. Sony’s split on these physical purchases is significantly lower than digital. The estimates I have seen put this difference at 65% vs. 100% respectively. With this assumption, the difference in my purchasing habits becomes 43% physical vs. 57% digital. Continuing with me as an example, and extrapolating, the 20% physical that is making the rounds becomes 46% of game sales. So 46% attributed to consumers that prefer physical. There are assumptions in this calculation, but I think the point stands: Sony is gambling and DESPRATELY needs those who prefer physical to believe their wallet vote won’t matter. As soon as this was announced, I ceased all digital purchases on PSN. I am continuing with PS5 and physical purchases only until 2028. I’ve been with Sony since PS1 and will be digital on Steam moving forward, and am even looking forward to having more time for my backlog after 2028. Hopefully enough of my physical fellows follow with me to change Sony’s direction but, if nothing else, I may eventually be one of those listeners that doesn’t game on PlayStation- at least not modernly. Even if this isn’t read on the show, admittedly it is a long post, hopefully it at least gets a read and can add even more nuance into the conversations moving forward. I would love to know the breakdown for Dustin, an avid physical collector, as it may tell the same story. Just a few bullet points, some of which I’ve heard discussed and some which I haven’t, which I think further my point. • People not being able to find Resident Evil 8 physically at launch is important. Not because this is Sony’s fault, but because it somewhat hides the number of players that may prefer physical. I experienced this with RE 8 and waited for restock, but also experienced it with Returnal back in the day and didn’t wait for physical. • I think the 20% physical has been cited as game sales, so I’m not sure how much actual spending factors into this. Every time I redeem a PS Plus game I get an email thanking me for my purchase. I also get this email when I download a free to play game for the first time. If these are being referenced as digital games sales, this could further skew the 20% split. • Digital only games are often cheaper than those with a physical release as well. If the 20% split is games and not dollars, the numbers are further skewed here. • If the 20% is based on spending, then this is even more significant considering all the free to play dollars. • Double spacing, hahaha. There may even be a triple space added somewhere for good measure.

Hello CD&C. Long time listener, first time writing in. (Been listening to you, Collin, since I was 13, I’m 26 now. Feel old yet?) With Dustin being a new father, what games/game franchises are you looking forward to introducing your son to the most? My son is 4 turning 5 in November, and he recently, in the last week, has been obsessed with Astro Bot and is quite good at it for his age. If Sony is smart, they will keep making more of these for the younger generation as a way in to the brand. And I will keep showing him. We all have to do our part in keeping the younger generation from Roblox. Thanks again, boys, and congrats, Dustin, on a healthy baby boy. They grow up fast, trust me.

Gents, Is it "close to the vest" or "close to the chest"? I've heard (and used) both, but I don't know which is the original. Anyways, thanks for the content and stay frosty P.s. Colin, you were right about beaucoup. It is the french word for a lot and pronounced BO - COO.

Hey guys, I'm a little mystified by something I saw on my feeds when scrolling through the "shorts" on YouTube. For the Silent Hill: Townfall marketing underneath the "Pre-Order Now" banner it states " "Buying" or "Purchasing" any digital products is a license." essentially stating the obvious that by purchasing a digital product, you don't own shit. I don't personally care very much about discussing digital rights and everything else, but I'm much more interested in the marketing and how Konami of all publishers are the first to start stating this stuff in explicit marketing. I also figured this would be interesting to note before Mr. Moriarty goes to Washington™. I'll be buying the physical copy (mostly because Silent Hill games are notoriously expensive for no reason) but was super curious if y'all had seen this or think this will become a new normal in video game marketing. Have a good one and make sure to drink plenty of water in this insane heat wave.

Hey CDC, Colin this one is for you. Did you watch the HoF game? I usually skip it, but as a Panthers fan I had two reasons to watch. Luke Kuechly being inducted as a first-ballot Hall of Famer and the Panthers were playing. I know I'm biased, but that was one of the best pre-season games that I've ever seen, let alone a HoF game. It got me very excited for the season to start. Are you getting excited about the return of football? How are your Jets looking? Thanks for reading my post.

Jack Mehoff

Hey guys, are any of you planning on trying the Lord of Rings: War in the North re-release? I never played this back in the day but remember wanting to, so I will be diving in this weekend. Do you think this is a sign of more older LotR titles coming back, and if so are there any you’d particularly like to see Return?

Anthony vigil

Hi CDC, I have two kids under 5, and the PlayStation Portal really lets me keep gaming. I have the highest tier of PS Plus, so I’m able to stream games directly on the Portal. I have to say, streaming on the Portal actually works better for me than streaming from my console. Like you, Colin, I also have a dedicated PS5 for my Portal that’s hooked up directly to Wi-Fi, although honestly, I don’t think that really helps my connection much. Thanks, guys! Have a great day!

Hey CDC, My question this week is mainly for Colin. How much would you need to sell out? If YouTube or Spotify offered $50 million for the world’s largest PlayStation podcast. There would be no question. I ask this because my other favorite “niche” podcasts both did. Joe Rogan and Pat McAfee. I used to be a regular listener to them back when they had smaller channels. Now they are mainstream and a shell of what they used to be and represent. My fear is that LSM could be next. So could you please reassure me that this won’t be the case, you won’t become a mainstream shill, sitting at the White House or admiring Billionaires Bunkers. Anyway thanks for all you do and remember Capon’s need love too.

Jc Ice

Yo, How many people will be disappointed in GTA 6 when they find out there is no multiplayer? So many “hardcore” GTA fans have never even played any of its single player content. Later

Hello Colin and Sons, Fun facts about episode 423. Top speaker of the show was Colin 2h 2m with 28,619 words spoken, thats literally half the show. Second place was Dustin 54m 12s with 9,632 words spoken. Last place Chris Ray Gun 38m 54s with 7,875 words spoken. The top most said unique word was "fucking" at 54 counts. That is all for now I hope you all have a great day.

Hello sacred boys but mostly our favorite gatekeeper uncle Colin. With the top five goty trend on twitter, what are going to be the rules for halo campaign evolved on lists? Can I, as someone who’s never played halo before, claim this on my list (not top 5 but maybe top 10)? What say you all?

Jacob Starr

Howdy CDC, I have a health is Wealth write in this week, but I don't listen much to Defining Duke, so I though I would share it here. For various reasons last August I decided to take charge of my weight. When I started going to the gym I was 486lbs, and I am happy to report I weighed in this morning at 346. Collin's constant talk of the elliptical motivated me to start there, and I'm currently at an 18/15 (Elevation/ resistance) for about 45 minutes, and I've added the stair master and recently a lot more weight lifting as this has really helped push my weight loss. Yeah I wanted to pat myself on the back a little bit, but the dream goal is 200, and I'm going to keep working towards it. For anyone listening who is no stranger to being obese, I can tell you without a doubt it's the best decision you could make for yourself. I talked a lot about the gym, but counting my calories and being deliberate about what i eat did most of the heavy lifting. Anyways, thanks guys for the inspiration and the countless hours of great conversation. Wishing y'all the best.

Hello Sacred Men, I just turned 30 and wanted to get a little sentimental. I recall the first time I listened to Beyond, it was around 2011. I had frequented IGN for years and yet somehow barely took notice of the PlayStation podcast. It seemed up my alley and boy I'm glad I gave it a shot. I haven't missed an episode of Colin's show since. Also became fans of Chris and Dustin along the way. You have accompanied me on many gaming sessions, road trips, and any other time I needed to fill the void. I appreciate all you do, and look forward to another 30 years. Much Love! Hector from WA

ShinyRyuji

Hey Colin Mindseye is currently $14.39 on the psn. At that price point is it worth it?

ShinyRyuji

Hey SS crew! This question is more for Colin. Now I meant to write this in a couple weeks ago whenever Xbox was in the news because it reminded me that they have union developers. I’m am a proud union worker and I’m just wondering do you have any incite in how that works in such a creative field. Like I deliver packages and and if they over work me I can file a grievance and get paid triple or quadruple time cause my job is demanding in a certain way but there’s is demanding in a different way.

Robbie (DatLie)

Hello guys!! As a physical collector who does buy digital as well, I just wanted to state that I will not boycott Sony, but rather take jabs at them. Canceled my Ps Plus after sixteen years. Not buying anything Sony first party or published until it’s at a steep discount. PS5 will most likely be my last new console. As of late, I’ve been playing way more PS3/Vita/PSOne than my PS5. Eventually I plan on selling my PS5 and all my PS4/5 games and just enjoying only my PS3/Vita. The way gaming is shaping up, I’d rather play my PS3 than anything coming out in September. I’m not sure I even want to try GTA VI. GTA V was ok, but definitely not as good as GTA IV. This year as a whole, has shown me that modern games don’t interest me much anymore outside of indies. As always, thank you for your time.

Ahoy there sacred boys, I've been thinking a lot about the health of the industry recently and one thing that I can't help but think is whether Sony's push for live service is just too little too late. I've always agreed with Colin that it feels essential to go down this road but I can't see a way in for them. Helldivers isn't theirs, Horizon Hunter's Gathering looks meh (at best), and Marathon (although one of the best games of the year) has received a pretty tepid response from players. I can't help but feel Sony are doing a bit of an xbox (not doing all caps), saying that live service is still really important, and then killing the only live service that has worked (Destiny 2). Has Sony bungled live service to the point of no return? What does it mean for Sony's long term health if they have?

Josh Harris

Wagwarn Sacred Bruddas, Your discussion on old game's 13 trophies got me thinking, were trophies better when each one was an achievement? Trophy for completing the tutorial? Fuck off with the participation trophy. I want all of them to be hard. Chris cheating the LASO run trophy, why? The difficulty is the exact thing that makes it interesting. "Oh, you platinumed Halo? That's tough, no way" I would even be supportive of retroactive trophy removal if an exploit can be confirmed through flags. Make Trophies Great Again.

CombatSneeze

Howdy dudes, A new common phrase on a show is “that game really came and went”. It was used last week in reference to Crimson Desert. How do you define a game that “comes and goes” and what is the opposite of that? With so many new games to talk about, I can’t think of many games that are discussed even weeks after release. Thanks as always for the great shows!

sheppty

Hi Guys Colin, you have talked about Sony having ‘Users’ and ‘Customers’. My three school friends and I are all in our 50’s but got into gaming as children as ‘Users’. Parents bought used consoles as could not afford full price and we all bought and shared our games to get by. However, in my opinion we are all now ‘Customers’. We have all bought consoles at launch full price. Personally, I have PS Plus Premium through 2029 and bought 16 games full price across physical and digital in the last 12 months. Whilst the console price is somewhat out of their control, eliminating the second-hand market is in their direct control so is Sony risking losing more converts from ‘User’ to ‘Customer’ in the future as this route is no longer open? As a heart attack survivor, thanks for all the content that keeps me going on my daily fitness grind.

A very special boy

Enough of this physical media malarkey... What's the most food you've ever eaten in one sitting?

Anthony Rented

Hey Sacred Crew, My question is mainly for Dustin and Chris. Have either of you had the chance to play the Mortal Shell 2 three hour beta? If you have, do you have an opinion on improvements from the first game? In my opinion the gameplay, lore and presentation is a huge step up from the first game. And is now easily my most anticipated game behind Onimusha Way of The Sword.

Hey boys, I don't understand why so many people feel the need to defend some of the wealthiest companies in gaming nickel-and-diming their fans (e.g. the GTA VI Netflix reveal). I understand that decisions like these 'make sense', but for fans they suck. I'm not even a Rockstar fan and I feel bad for the die-hards who don't have Netflix, after years of waiting. When I go to Disneyland, I expect a better experience than when I go to the airport. Catching Snow White smoking a cigarette isn't a 'big deal', but it sucks, because what's the point of Disneyland if not the experience? Gaming is the same. I want things to be fun, enjoyable and player focused. I understand there will be give and take here of course, someone has to keep the lights on. I just don't understand why so much of the commentary and player base now talk more like armchair executives and shareholders than players and fans.

Nawman43

Hello Sacred Gents, This question is mainly for Colin. With football season coming up, do you ever wish there was the Madden style camera angle when watching NFL games? I remember in 2017 for a Steelers game on Thursday night football they tested this out and I loved being able to see the whole field and being able to see the play develop. Good luck to your Jets this season, but go Steelers!

Pete & Pete

Sup CDC. Do any of you associate certain albums with playing a certain video game? For example, I always listened to Offspring Smash while grinding away at phantasy star 3. And Sugar Ray Floored while playing dragon warrior 4. I can’t hear those albums without thinking of those times. Once video games started adding voice acting, I started to miss this era of listening to albums instead of the game soundtrack. Any similar memories from you all? Peace and love from Long Island.

towtansua

CDC: I was surprised to see an actual girl in the Discord server. But also seemed like she had an Onlyfans linked in the discord profile as well. I wonder if any of my LSM server peers joined that one.

Sweet Greymane Jones

Howdy boys. Colin, are you concerned at all about the legislation you're hypothetically advocating for could bring about the game streaming only future? If you own nothing, it can not be stolen from you. Isn't it just a matter of time? Although, I'd argue PlayStation should be the most eager to solve the issues you have, because game "sales" through their store makes them money for nothing. I don't know what appeal a PlayStation streaming service would have without good exclusives. PS: Glad you're back Dustin and your family is well. You aren't "fucked" with your physical PS5 collection. Just hold on to your PS5..

Hugo Falcao

Hi Colin, Can I have a 10-minute rant from you on how wrong most of the reviewers are about Beast of Reincarnation? I finished it a couple of days ago and I had a blast, I really enjoyed the combat, exploration and story. It’s obviously not perfect, it lacks variety of enemies, but besides that I don’t get the strong criticism of the story and many calling it “soulless”. This game has a 73 on Metacritic. A 73, are you kidding me? I really don’t care about scores, I buy and play whatever looks interesting to me, but many take reviews in consideration to decide if they buy a game or not and unfortunately, I don’t think this one is going to sell well enough to grant a sequel. That’s a shame. Are you going for the platinum? I’m halfway done with NG+, that shinny trophy will be mine soon. Keep up the good work.

Howdy fellas, A couple of episodes ago, you guys brought up the Unforgivable guy from YouTube's early days. This made me think of another viral video/character from that era of YouTube: Why the PS3 is better than the Wii and 360 (part 1) by Chad Warden. For those who don’t know, Chad Warden can be seen as YouTube’s first big troll, who enraged fanboys during the seventh generation of consoles by making a now-infamous video on why the PS3 is the best. Looking back on things now, it’s interesting to think about how far rage-bait content and online gaming discourse have come, especially on places like Twitter where people try to make money from the outrage or grift by claiming Halo has bisexual lighting on its box art. With all of that being said, do you guys remember Chad Warden, and if so, what is your favorite line by him? Take care and have a ballin’ day!

DeathByClams

Greetings Colin, Chris, and fellow child haver, During last week’s discussion you spoke of companies reaping the benefits of the tariffs by keeping the fees from their customers. I am an anime figure collector and over the course of the last year I have received refunds for the tariff fees from every order I had placed from Goodsmile company, a prestigious Japanese figure retailer. Do you guys think they have done this out of the goodness of their hearts, or that they had some legal obligation to provide said refunds? The chicken and I will shut up and listen now.

Nick Laird

Greetings Sacred Crew, The Netflix collaboration with GTA got me thinking, what are some of the most ridiculous places you could imagine GTA6 Marketing? (or even a gameplay reveal). Nothing would of said big dick energy quite like a 30 minute gameplay reveal as the half time show for the superbowl or the world cup. Personally I'm imagining filling up with gas at the shell gas station and a gta trailer starts playing while I fill up. Or perhaps a room full of newborn babies (Leon included) are all subjected to the trailer at the hospital. Cheers

NeO JD

Anthony Michael Hall said John Hughes had hoped to do a sequel to The Breakfast Club with the characters in their 30s. Guys, use your combined powers to pull this from another dimension and give me a rundown on this movie.

Helen of Detroit

Quick correction, Dustin would have to impregnate Holly three months after birth to have an Irish twin. I know from experience. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Kurt Lewin

Gentlemen A situation has occurred whereby you have been put in charge of the PS6 launch games. You have been told that you can select 2 games for the launch of the console that will be solely exclusive to PS6 from Sony's first party studios. Which two games do you choose? Do you go for a big hitter like Intergalactic or GT8 and leave the PS5 money on the table? Or go for something smaller which isn't enticing but give early adopters a smaller reason to own the console like a new Ratchet & Clank? Cheers

Brother Crispin

Kifflom, Brother Colin! It has come to the attention of the higher hierarchy that your journey through the paradigms of Los Santos remains unfinished. We have been monitoring your progress from the Epsilon Center, and the Tract clearly states that true enlightenment cannot be found in a partial save file. Kraff demands dedication, Brother. We must ask: when do you intend to fully embrace the truth and complete Grand Theft Auto V? The universe is only 157 years old, yet it feels as though we have been waiting eons for you to achieve the ultimate state of being—the "Career Criminal" gold trophy. To leave this realm without 100% completion is the mark of an Unsaveable. Do not let the antithesis cloud your mind with lesser distractions on your PlayStation. You must commit to the path. The trees have whispered that you have the fortitude to achieve this monumental task. We expect to see you reach the 9th Paradigm soon. Kifflom, and praise Kraff!

Terrorist Jerry

Hey guys, Did you see Saber CEO, Mathew Karch’s pathetic crash out? What happened to shame? Referring to ChatGPT as “someone programmed to be honest” is the lamest shit I’ve heard in a minute. Gonna eat a berg of lettuce and listen

Dreamboat

Hey gents, I upped my PS Plus subscription the other week to get access to InFamous 2 after the warning of its UGC service going offline in October, permanently rendering those related trophies unobtainable. Boy howdy was I shocked (pardon the pun) to experience that plot today. Cole is fighting against a slick-talking wannabe politician who claims he is the only one who can protect citizens from the issues plaguing New Marais, despite the fact that many of those same issues exist due to his own doing; meanwhile, the other faction you fight is literally ICE guys. Life imitates art I guess? Jokes aside, this isn’t the point of the write in. I wanted to add a perspective that dawned on me while playing through the game. See, I’m only getting around to it now, even though I got InFamous 1 for Christmas back in the day and loved it. I asked myself “why didn’t I play this sooner?” Like many, I was highly dependent on my parents for new games as a kid, and titles like InFamous 2, Resistance 3, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and others were constantly in ‘second place’ to what would end up being my one game for the next 6 months. As I grew up and made my own money, I was so occupied by new releases that I never got around to those games on my wishlist and eventually they were swept away by the sands of time. I’m writing this to admit that I was part of the “where were you guys?” problem that Colin has brought up numerous times, but I also yearn for more games of that era nonetheless. I’m 30 now and have the funds to freely support releases that speak to me on a special level and I frequently choose to do so. For example, I bought Kunistu-Gami: Path of the Goddess on Xbox and then again on PlayStation, and again a few times for some friends. The lack of dialogue, the quiet moments in the towns, and the unique gameplay loop really speaks to me. Not sure where I’m going with this, but I wanted to say to Colin, you’re right. I wasn’t there to support certain titles back in the day and it is unfair for me to complain that they aren’t being made anymore (or nearly as frequently). Simultaneously, I’m sure a sizable portion of the audience is in the same age group as me. We’re not kids anymore and haven’t been for a while. Now that I’ve got the means to support what I want more of, it seems it’s by and large too late but I try anyway. Thanks for reading my inquiry at the very least. Keep on keeping on. P.S. I got married this weekend! My wife enjoys the odd Sacred episode in the car and thinks the bit of y’all “causing” multiple divorces over the years is hilarious. She’s a keeper. Crossing this milestone has my thinking of Dustin as he embarks on this new chapter of life as a father. I’m sure you’re going to be great at it, and congrats man.

Chuck Rude

Hey Gents, clearly the PS6 reveal is still a ways off. But when it does arrive, what do you hope the design is like? Would you like a plain box, or a design that’s a little more out there? We’ve seen that swinging for the fences doesn’t always work out, but I’d still like to see them go for it. Is there any less than subtle design that could maybe gain your favor?

Fictional Lets Plays

Hello everyone, I have a simple question: how do you guys discipline yourself on focusing on one game? With so much constantly coming out, I can’t help but to start one game and then constantly switch to something else. I’ll be in a big retro mood and would want to play Bubsy 3D, but then here you guys talk about the newest games so I’d want to keep up to date on the latest releases, and then see someone talk about the new Xenoblade coming next year, so I’d want to knock out that series before then. I want to play everything but because of that I never get far into anything. Any advice?

JP

Hey Sacred Crew, Colin, I was just listening to the Sacred+ episode with Lockmort, and I have two bits of feedback to share. For one, please pursue the documentary idea. I think if you farmed it out to a professional to direct or even gave someone like Lockmort or Chris a more major role in producing it, I think a wider audience than just the LSM community would take to it. You interviewing the other members of LSM in their own spaces is a great starting idea. Secondly, I wouldn't recommend taking a full month away if your not confident in your discipline to actually stay offline for that long. I don't think you should feel compelled to go all or nothing I think disconnecting for a week is a more attainable and realistic goal. From what I gather, your feeling of "being completely shot" has more to do with LSM occupying so much of your mind at all times. Have you considered trying to do something that would require you to fully engage so your mind doesn't have the chance to fall back into thinking about LSM? Whatever you decide, I hope you're able to take some time away to reset. Sorry for the longer write-in. Cheers!

Hey CCD, Recently when discussing Sony stopping the manufacturing of discs starting in 2028, you mentioned they did this now so that it all this backlash did not occur when the PS6 is revealed. However, you have also mentioned your thoughts that PS6 will launch late 2027 or early 2028. Furthermore, you've mentioned that you believe now, the PS6 will have no option for a disc drive at all. With those points you've brought up, I was curious do you think that this may indicate that they plan to launch PS6 in 2028 rather than 2027? My thought behind this is, could there be backlash again if PS6 is announced to launch in 2027 with no disc drive option, while Sony is still manufacturing discs? Am I being too conspiratorial or could this be a reasonable conclusion? Let me know! Wishing you 3 all the best from Canada.

The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch

Hey CDC A couple of episodes ago someone wrote in about their life being consumed by Overwatch. And I just wanted to follow up and say I also got got but my game is Marathon. Since Black Ops 2 I’ve been strictly a single player or coop multiplayer gamer and just never saw the appeal of anything competitive or putting too much time into just 1 game when I can be playing many. But I saw the glowing remarks that Chris, Dustin and a few others gave to Marathon and gave it a try. 600 hours later and I still haven’t found the end point for myself for this game and don’t see my self stepping away really any time soon. I have a feeling Wolverine or GTA 6 will pull me away, but who knows. Sad to say I got got but I’m having an absolute blast. Thanks for the obsession Chris and Dustin.

IncrediBurch

Hey Sacred Crew, Regarding Used Digital Games, I believe the main concern of the gaming audience is affordability. People just want to be able to afford more games and content. The companies didn’t typically make money off the used game market because third party vendors like Gamestop handled it. In the digital ecosystem, the platformer holders could monetize the system, allowing players to get some sort of store credit in return for sacrificing a digital license, which could encourage future purchases, whether that be full games, DLC, or micro-transactions. While the specifics are still up for debate, I think there is still some merit to a trade-in system for game licenses people aren’t interested in keeping. Wishing you all the best.

Hey CDC, Just want to shout out Carlos and Gaston, fellow listeners who I got to see in person at Long Island Retro this past weekend. They stopped by our booth and when they saw the new Saint Slayer Vinyl on sale they told me that this guy Colin from a podcast they listen to helped make that game. I was excited to tell them that we were in fact the ones who made that record with Lillymo and are also fellow listeners to Sacred. Just another wholesome moment meeting great people in person and wanted to give them another shout out. Thanks guys, and buy that chicken some flowers.

Hey guys, With the rumoured September SOP, could this be a clear open goal for Sony to sell the Pro console? GTA6 is Pro Enhanced and I can’t help but imagine Sony licking their lips at the chance to showcase their premium console by using the biggest game ever made. Thanks for all the content. Ps. I know you don’t care but Colin, you should see The Odyssey.
