Of course, but its exclusives in general along with ball and guns. These people don’t explore the medium at all, and you don’t have to dig. Anything outside of the biggest titles are completely off their radar so “no games to play”. There’s never been a time in gaming history with more, great games to play and every data point supports this.

I mean my favorite games are the cinematic "movie" games. Sony just makes the majority of those. I like other genres, especially tons of indies, but have been missing my favorite type of game. Especially as someone who is not into Death Stranding. What's wrong with that? At least we have been getting more survival horror than usual, my other favorite genre

That’s definitely the case. I’m not really among the vocal complainers but I’m really not happy with the state of PlayStation first party. I’m a multiplat gamer and so I bought a PS5 specifically for exclusives based on high satisfaction with those on PS4. The exclusives have been too few, way too samey, and often just not as good as the prior iteration. At this point I’m strongly questioning ever buying a PS6 considering I turn the PS5 on for maybe 1-2 games annually and I will probably be able to keep using the 5 for the new Sony games anyway.

I haven’t played Beast of Reincarnation, and only watched part of one trailer, but the description sounds a lot like Nier: Automata. Hack and slash set on a far future earth with a female protagonist, etc. Also, one interesting thing about Horizon is that despite taking place only a few hundred years into the future, it could really be any length of time into the future given the degree of what happened in the past.

Unfortunately this is the entire generation and not just a PlayStation issue. Exclusive gaming has been disappointing comparatively but games in general have been incredible since the gen started. I just don’t see this problem getting better for all the reasons LSM consistently outline.

Interesting hearing Colin talk about Onimusha 2 and 3 as they’re widely regarded as the 2 best games in the series. Not that 1 wasn’t strong though, but it’s probably the worst in the series. Glad we’re getting Dawn of Dreams (out now!)

There’s a difference in not liking how Wolverine looks and not being excited for literally no games at all. The conflation of the two kind of has to end. Similar to people criticizing it and Colin’s immediate pushback is “well it’ll do fine” like uh … yea, I don’t think anyone disagrees. I don’t want to speak for Lockmort, but what I think he was getting at on stream is this: why does Control Resonant look so vastly different from Control and feel like such a significant step forward, while Wolverine seems to be innovating so little despite being an entirely new IP? If Remedy can make that kind of leap, why can’t a first party Sony studio do the same? And to be clear, this isn’t me saying Wolverine is going to be a bad game (I don’t think anyone thinks this). We’re just asking for something more ambitious and innovative. I don’t think that’s a crazy request.

Beast of reincarnation is on game pass. You said it's $60 I assume on PS, good thing I checked. I'll definately be playing soon, right after black flag. Between lies of P and final fantasy 7 being the top games on my back log. This one has peaked my interest thanks to you. I also agree with your recommendation to stick to 2 games at a time. For me it's been Crimson Desert as my #1game I play sporadically I'm 250 hours in and still so much to do. Your probably better off staying a away from that game Collin, it's an ADD time consuming black hole that I'll never come out of. At least for me.

Completely agree. And saying that Spider-Man 2 is a great game just because it has sold X amount of copies or has X attach rate is a questionable argument. Roblox is an extremely popular game and I doubt that Colin would call it a good game. I don’t think it’s a bad game, and it’s one of the few games where I stuck around to get the platinum, but it’s by no means perfect. Especially the story and some gameplay segments (MJ as Solid Snake).

Micah, I wish we, the listeners, could help you out and stop insisting that Colin watch Andor. Unfortunately if he’s going to go on 20 minute rants every two weeks about how bad Star Wars is now when he hasn’t watched the second best (honestly possibly the first best) thing the franchise has ever produced, it’s going to continue to come up.

Unicorn Overlord was an amazing recommendation. I don’t even play strategy games, but this was one of my favorite games I’ve played in recent memory. So much so that I even got the platinum for it.

Me and Brad have been oddly in sync with old games a couple times this year. Replayed dog shit Sonic 06 and then I just finished my first ever playthrough of Dark Souls last week and absolutely loved it.

Colin mentions a bunch of shitty games as option and “dont understand” the complaint from gamers, just like sony oblivious to what players want, no wonder they will continue to flop on games and now on consoles removing physical media. Im playing games from microsoft, Nintendo but sony dont seem to be able to make a game without their agenda and just fun to play like they did in the past. Loved the Micah x Colin x Brad trio, very fun and very entertaining.
