Please welcome popular YouTuber LegacyKillaHD to +! I (Colin) wanted to have him on the show for a big reason: He holds publishers and developers to account just like we do, and that's truly rare in our games industry. So, we cover four major topics that are currently bouncing around: Cyberpunk 2077 and the CD Projekt fiasco, Bethesda's sale to Microsoft and the future of its games, BioWare's cancellation of Anthem Next and what it means for EA, and Hogwarts Legacy's preemptive cancellation attempts based on... well... nothing at all. So settle on in, friends! Let's talk shop.

Awesome!! He's always been pretty thourogh and chill surrounding these topics

Matthew Major

Thank you Colin these interviews are second to none. Killa needs to come back for sure.

Jack Doheny

Really like micheal been watching him since the red dead 2 hype was happening

Anthony A.

I’m going to listen now. I know it will be great. His channel is awesome.

brody_low

Can't wait to listen! I love Colin as interviewer....I miss fireside chats

Evan Bederman

Hey Colin, just wanted to let you know that JK Rowling's last name rhymes with "bowling", not "scowling".

Piston Pants

I like that this guy admits his user name is stupid.

Brandon williams

Never heard of this guy but he sounds like wwe superstar Kevin owens

Kenneth Oms

As I’m watching you and Dagan talk about blade runner, this comes up, I love Dagan but I’ve been super looking forward to this episode

Crackhead Bob

Does this cdpr Xbox guy appear on rdx podcast?

GameSimp

A lot of YouTubers on plus these days, that’s awesome! Maybe some small YouTubers could be next if that interests Last Stand? You’d definitely get that “side hustle” perspective from them

Carlos Fregoso

"We have an above average audience when it comes to games knowledge and curiosity" Sir, I'm here for the stories about shitting yourself on a first date... And of course the follow up stories.

Liam Fagan

Yes. Legacy makes good content. Keep up the guests Colin. Im still not sure why you don't put these guest appearances under fire side chats. Such great branding.

Max Stahl

Buyin' Bill Gates comes to your house with a truck load of cash. What do you do?

Caleb Greer

Perhaps I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure Bethesda Austin made most of Fallout 76 and then Bethesda Game Studios supported with writing the story and such. If I remember right, they weren’t full hands-on that game at Bethesda Game Studios till like the final year of development. Bethesda Game Studios attached its name to it as primary developer so the game would sell better. For Fallout 4, pretty sure that game was being made for previous gens, then it took too long and they had to rework it for the Xbox One and PS4 gen, so it was basically a 360 and PS3 game on new hardware.

Dylan Manuszak

You reallllly gotta get Legacy back again, what an amazing podcast! So much knowledge of the gaming industry in both of you!

Greg Mocha

Yeesh, tough listen. Don’t go into this one looking for any uplifting conversation. lol

Andy T

Very, very good. This is why I come to Last Stand Media. The “games media” are simply a marketing arm of all of the developers and publishers. You guys call them on their shit. Well done.

Michael Thew

CDPR will only eat shit til the next failure that gets overhyped. Btw I was surprised you didn’t give your opinion about Jason shrierer when Legacy praised him. I think he’s the biggest yellow journalist the industry has and sites like kotaku and ign are empty shells of what they where. I truly don’t understand why advertisers give those sites any money at all. They cater to typical Lenin and Maoist communist and the last time I looked they have no money and if they did they expect the service or good for free. I was a prime member on IGN from 2002-2018 mostly for their guides, thanks Colin, but those are all incomplete now and days. Lol I just like my user name, Pimpin123. They must not be able to make people change them

strawhatninja

Loved the episode Colin a guest every now and then is a great idea!

TreyDogg

Great episode. Should make this public. His enormous following is your exact target audience

TrackyMatts

Some great points about Bethesda's development history made in the pod. I remember the first game from them I played was Daggerfall. It was buggy AF! Constantly falling through the environment in dungeons. Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim all were in various states of play-ability and unplay-ability when launched.

Sumojoe118

Wow I used to watch this guys channel way back when he used to make a video every time there was red dead 2 leak in like 2016 lol. Great to hear him on this show.

Your Boi Nicky V

Great convo, thanks for putting this together Colin. Also, lol at the comment about podcasters hosting conferences for publishers. Without naming names, I'm glad you're not a sell out like them.

brody_low

Amazing episode. I could listen to Colin all day. He is an incredible interviewer

brody_low

Legacy is very knowledgeable. Jumping in

Will Hahn

Colin, this guy is fantastic. You gotta have him on again, and I’m definitely checking him out on his channel. Great episode.

Marcus Brown

I enjoyed this very much! Will for sure check out his channel.

NeO JD

I’m not a fan of Jason S as a person per say, but you can’t knock his work. He’s legit arguably the only real journalist in the industry.

NeO JD

When you were talking about Cyberpunk, it sounded like you were talking about the KF temps, specifically Parris and Alanah for having worked with CDPR on marketing (or in Alanah’s case actually being in the game), and then Andrea for hosting events. I didn’t expect that from you Col. I get what you’re saying, but those guys always disclose that stuff, and lay into the games as well. Maybe I’m wrong and you were talking about other people, but that’s what I got from it. Mass Effect 3’s quality is arguable? LK is wild for that one.

Liam Fagan

Colin, to be fair you have been saying for a while that bioware should move on. Thats not holding them accountable, we paid for a games as a service and never recieved the service.

Scott Pittman

Great show, I sub’d him on YouTube

Dan Root

Awesome episode kills is great!

Anonymous

This was a very enjoyable episode. I felt as if the episode was addressing us adult gamers with kids and lives beyond the “industry”. Really dug it.

Paul Meekin

Oooh exciting. I know the podcast started up after Cyberpunk, so a deep dive into that game's...challenging launch should be fun!

Zack Apuzzo

Great episode. Legacykilla was great. Loved how he didn't hold back his punches at the evergrowing nonsense of the "journalism" in games media. It was also nice to hear I wasn't alone in not giving a shit about these fairytale new games coming out of bethesda like elder scrolls 6. Bethesda to me has been shitting out the worst quality games this whole generation. Don't understand the hype at all.

TyDie

Great great episode! Would love to see him return in the future!

Jeremy Craves

A script from Legacy/Michael could be something for “The Athletic” of game news, analysis, discussion. They call themselves Youtubers, but some people would read before ever considering a 5-30 minute video. The talent exists.

Billski

Excellent episode. Hope you can get him back on at some point in the future!

Wayde

Just got the platinum on cyberpunk and while I agree there are some issues it's not nearly as bad as people have made it out to be. I was super excited for the Witcher 3 because I loved the 1st 2 on PC

Mike Jacobson

Hey [insert witty and insulting pet names], Wanted to reach out and share a little inside scoop with you guys. I have a friend that works at Ubisoft Toronto and as you may expect, I had some questions for him when we last spoke. He let me know the following: 1. They all found out about the Star Wars game at the same time we did. There was a ton of excitement about it at their studio but he was disappointed to learn that Ubisoft Stockholm will be developing it with support from other studios. 2. The recent delay of Far Cry 6 was in fact directly related to the debacle that was the cyberpunk release. The game itself is fully playable and runs great, but they thought the extra time would help them with polish etc. Covid has made things significantly more difficult for them and that “they’ve learned from the mistakes of other studios”. As a Toronto resident myself I can say that our on again off again lockdowns have been ridiculously annoying and detrimental to just about every traditional business in the city. P.s. if this makes it on the show I’ll up my subscription. Call it a bribe. I don’t care.

Zack Fair

I think the lines between a Games journalist and dev/publisher have become blurred for a few years now. I may be wrong but we see people like podcasters sucking upto CD PROJEKT RED and getting merch or Greg Miller doing EA events. It makes it a lot harder to criticise a company when you get cool stuff from devs/publishers etc and remaining true to your audience and to be critical about a game also. Great episode Colin!

Bueller’s Day Off

This was great! Could’ve listened to another 3 hours of this. Hopefully you can get him back on in a bit to touch base!

Ben and Hiroshi

Colin, great episode. Can I recommend you watch the video 'J.K. Rowling' by Contrapoints on Youtube? I agree with you on 90% of your critique of games journalism as per JK Rowling and hall monitoring, but IMO, JKs comments and patterns are dangerous and deserving of critique. I see your passion in this area, and I think Contrapoints video might be useful in providing bigger picture.

BlindRiot

I can mirror Colins thoughts as to the quality of Legacy’s content, it’s some top drawer work.

LastStandMedia

Yes, that's true. Which is why I said that it was weird that Bethesda (Maryland) was initially pretending they had much of anything to do with it outside of production. It was a huge blunder, because it stained them.

LastStandMedia

I'm talking about a lot of people. It doesn't matter what you disclose; it's cringe-as-fuck to be working for game devs and publishers while having an audience as a critic or commentator.

Mike Jacobson

Well I blew my load then 🤷🏻‍♂️. I don’t know what I’m doing here 😂😅

Paul Andrew

I guess my concern with Microsoft buying Bethesda is that they really seem to struggle with managing the studios they already have. During the Xbox One generation, they were unable to gestate a really strong outstanding exclusive. I think there may be something behind the scenes they need to reevaluate. Xbox needs quality. Not quantity

Justin Chadwick

Really great conversation! Would love to see more episodes like this where Colin and another guest just break down the industry 👍🏻

Caz

Hire this man! One of the best episodes easily

Jeremy

This was awesome! Always love to hear a guest who really knows their stuff :'D
