God of War | KnockBack: The Retro and Nostalgia Podcast Episode 169

Every so often, a game comes along that helps define a genre. When it comes to 2005's God of War -- which launched that year on PlayStation 2 courtesy of Santa Monica Studio -- one can't help but see how important it was (and still is) to so many of the 3D action games we play today. Inspired by Greek mythology, a cinematic approach, a glorified sense of gore and sex, and... well... some Capcom games, clearly, God of War remains one of the PlayStation brand's biggest touchstones all of these years (and consoles) later. So grab your Blades of Chaos, Kratos fans. It's about to get tragic. Check out our merch store at http://LastStandMedia.Shop A new episode of KnockBack launches each Monday morning. This episode is 10/10 because of the magnet alone. Colin would always mention it when he would do lets plays of Mega Man 3 and we finally get to see it.

Domenico Smarto

Looking forward to this one. God of War is one of my favorite gaming series of all time.

Stephen Forgione

Well there's Immortals: Fenyx Rising for a kid friendly Greek mythology game.

Why are you fellas against Kratos bustin some nuts? He can exact revenge and commit genocide to the entire roster of Greek Gods but god forbid he cums 🤣😂🤣 Loved this episode!

Josh Gamez

On the topic of the sex mini games being strictly for giggling teenagers comment: I was in 9th grade when this game came out: Can confirm.

Andres

Seemed a little unenthused in this one, Colin. Hope you're alright.

Zack Apuzzo

Great episode. Loved the childhood toys segment. Would be awesome to see a whole video of Colin and Dagan going through those

Blake Wall

What is you twitch username so I can check it out

This game has a lot of sentimental value to me. It was the first time I got into "real" gaming instead of only playing crappy movie licensed games. I was 12 when I played it, it was my first M game that I borrowed from my friend. My dad knew I had it but I had to keep it hidden from my mom.

Brock Thomas Walsh

Listening now and I am so confused. Can you not hold triangle to launch enemies into the air and follow up with air combos and juggling? I remember this so vividly, but maybe I getting it confused with the 2nd game.

Wayne Moss

Looking forward to seeing what Dagan thinks of the new God of War when he gets to it.

"who hasn't been sucked into the wiles of a beautiful woman... once or twice," so true.
