Welcome! On this 99th episode of + (although Colin says it's 100 for some reason), we draw in MrMattyPlays onto Sacred Symbols for the very first time! Why, you ask?! To talk about E3, of course! How do we think everyone did? How did Microsoft do, specifically? How can Sony respond? Which games are we most looking forward to for the rest of the year? We cover a lot of ground on this much-requested crossover episode, and we hope you enjoy it.

I agree that a lot of people are having some type of crisis now that Microsoft is making big moves lol. As someone who predominantly plays on Xbox it’s funny to me but I get it. I literally bought a PS3 for Last of Us and a PS4 for Spider-Man. The smart thing Xbox did was make the Series S for someone who wants to play Xbox exclusives but plays mostly on PlayStation. I expect Microsoft to continue to have a cheaper option as the console generations go on unless game pass goes on Switch and PlayStation. I’m happy that the big three are all in a good place finally and competition is back.

Colin as a playstation fan I must punch back and say Xbox has done nothing to make me freak out. They still dont have the ability to make the type of games I like or at the level of quality I like. Cant speak for everyone but as a playstation fan I'm still looking down at buying an xbox , tho they are getting much better. But yeah as a playstation I'm not "nervous" at all becuase Xbox can buy all the studios they want but they STILL dont have a Naughty Dog , they STILL dont have an insomniac, gorilla games ,sony santa monica ect.. Hell to me they dont even have a studio on the level of sucker punch. But this narrative that playstation fans are nervous is weird to me becuase I have not seen it anywhere.

I love my PS5 but it’s my Series S (game pass machine) that gets majority of my time, Like a Dragon coming to GP best moment of E3 for me, good times for both consoles I think.

This “games with a heritage” quote is getting a lot of shine. Oblivion dropped in 2006, fallout 3 in 2008 and Skyrim came out 10 years ago. How long is a heritage? Morrowind came out 20 years ago at the end of this year. I get Chris’ point that Morrowind is proof of Xbox and Bethesda’s history but 10-15 years of oblivion-Fallout 4 is nothing to scoff at and could be seen as Heritage.

Sony having the movie rights to Spider-man, Marvel’s most popular hero by a wide margin, has effectively made him a Playstation exclusive character. It’s only now that they’re starting to use that as leverage in negotiation with Disney, since Disney got the game license back from Activision. Spider-Man is also still exclusively coming to the Sony version of Square Enix’s Avengers, further proving that the movie deal definitely has power in the game space.

Oblivion, Fallout 3/New Vegas and Skyrim notoriously run poorly on PS3. Even if there’s heritage, and Chris and Matty have said as such, it’s not a good one.

So Colin, Everwild got rebooted partially because the developers said they hit roadblocks trying to develop the whole game and make it engaging with no combat (I assume they weren’t trying to copy a Journey-style game or a walking sim). Thoughts, since you’re a proponent of making games with no combat?

Jason’s article on the blue box studio silent hill thing raised some red flags for me. The guy running the studio said Sony approached him after they saw his failed Kickstarter that raised 207 dollars. That makes no sense.

Colin, you mentioned a great idea when you talked about publishers like capcom and square enix and other Japanese publishers having their own joint conference. What if that could actually be Sony’s gamepass answer. Obviously that’s a pipe dream but imagine a PlayStation gamepass where you day 1 access to all square enix, capcom, from software, etc. games. A Japanese alliance.

Great crossover episode. Although I am a little bummed there was no talks on Nintendo (Metroid Dread looks awesome), Xbox looks to be in a good place in 2021.

Great EP except for one thing. Spiderman being exclusive is because of the deal between Disney/Marvel and Sony Pictures. Spiderman gaming wise is for the majority exclusive to Sony for this reason. This is not equivalent to Microsoft's buying of Bethesda. Microsoft is just swinging their big d#&$ energy around shutting out a lot of people who love Bethesda game franchises. This is not the same as the exclusively of Spiderman.

Just listened to the show while working in the garden. Fantastic show! I hope we get more of these crossover shows in the future. Matty matches the SS crew perfectly! Ps: Watched a bit on YouTube too, and I have to say, Colin doesn't look like the ghost of Sparta anymore 😜. He looks healthy and even has a sun shade! Awesome 😄

I truly do not understand how anyone could prefer ratchet 2016 to rift apart. I can't even think of a possible reason or way 2016 is better. In my eyes rift apart does literally everything better. Gameplay, combat, level design, world building, story and characters are better by a mile, set pieces are also better by a mile, it's longer, and even clanks sections are not only shorter but more fun as well. I really didn't care for the dumb drone swapping and repetitive Victor chases clank had in 2016 so even knowing that Colin hates clank parts in RA, I still cannot fathom how Colin could hold such an indefensible opinion that 2016 is better

but people that talk about games usually have reasons why they like one more than another. I genuinely can't even think of why someone would like 2016 more so I'm curious. Especially since he's mentioned it on at least 3 separate podcasts
