Surprise! For our 200th episode, we decided to cover one of the most-requested topics from our audience since we began KnockBack some four years ago. Avatar: The Last Airbender came to Nickelodeon in 2005, and its first season immediately raised the bar of what could be expected from a 21st century Nick that helped define the previous 20 years of children and teen television content. Full of heart and soul, beautifully animated, and charming to the max, Avatar is undeniably appealing and worth your attention. We're very pleased to finally talk about it here on KnockBack, and we hope you enjoy.

The Late Nate

Oh fuck, its finally time! I'm very excited for this one!! What an awesome surprise!!

Tim J Weckwerth

They actually did it. A Can always count on the KnockBack crew to deliver!

Kickstand

Surprised you guys watched this. I haven’t watched this show since the 2000s. I didn’t love it then, but curious what you think now!

Andres

LETSGOOOOOOO

Kenneth Koepnick

WHOA! Sneak attack! I almost made a snarky comment on the last election about how it hasn’t been mentioned in forever

Luis Sanchez

Was actually wondering if they would follow through. Super Moriarty Bros always deliver.

Retlaw

This Nickelodeon show has no business being as good as it is.

Aaron B Vick

Finally, this can stop getting voted on!!

It stopped getting voted on long ago. I took it out of circulation forever ago. That's why this is a surprise. =)

Dave Ramos

Seeing this get posted is making me so happy! Can't wait to listen on my drive home from work. It's been a while since I listened to Knockback

Asique Alam

Finally secret tunnel!!!

Jason Bolla

I was secretly hoping this would never happen, but you are always a man of your word.

Lewis Creech

Big win! Excited for this one.

MayorGarbageMan

I was born in 96 and my brother was born in 92 and we both love this show. So you’re spot on when you say someone born in 94, this would have been their show growing up.

Conor L

You guys are going to fucking love season 2 you don’t even understand yet

Bogey Zero

As much as I liked season 1, season 2 is when I fell in love with this world and characters. Hope you guys do it for episode 300. Edit: oh shit I just listened to the rest of the episode. Was not expecting you guys to move on to the next seasons. Awesome.

Jack Sibert

Haha I was a bit on the old side when this show came out (I was born in 89), but my wife and I watched this show many years after it had run its course. We loved it and we hope that you and Dagan do as well! And also I think many of us will be happy to stop seeing this show pop up in the primary elections

Nicholas Coso

Great episode! I’m excited for you to see the shifts in Season 2 and Season 3!

Liam Argent

I really hope you guys continue with the series in the not too distant future because Season 2 and 3 in my mind are on a different level in a lot of ways. (And two of my favourite characters don't appear until them.) Though I will say that most of what happens in the first Season is absolutely necessary to the overall narrative. Side note: This may be unpopular with a lot of fans, but if you like this show I'd lower expectations for Legend of Korra significantly if you end up watching that because in my opinion it doesn't hold a candle to this original series and quite frankly is entirely unnecessary and overrated.

Adam Barnes

Never watched the show but I’m listening to this out of solidarity with the boys who have waited so long for this xx

Nathaniel Taylor

I was thinking this was never happening. A pleasant surprise!

Stephen Forgione

Fun fact: the Director of the first season (Dave Filoni) was contacted by George Lucas to get his Star Wars Clone Wars Cartoon Series off the ground. Because of Avatar, now we have the excellent Clone Wars show and the awesome Disney+ shows

Bryce Mccloskey

Hell yes it finally happened!!!! I might shed a man tear I wasn't sure you were gonna do it

Mike W

Finally!!

I am so glad I was born in 1994! Avatar premiered in 2005 when I was just in 5th grade, and about 10-11 years old. Additionally, I wanted to mention that it is commonly understood that Nickelodeon, unfortunately, mismanaged both Avatar and its follow-up, Legend of Korra.

Derek Waechter

I can’t believe you chucklekfuck Avatar stans bullied them into doing this episode. Peak entitlement crybaby bitch fit. Wow wow wow

Brandon Bishop

Dagan: water bending seems underpowered Anyone that's seen the whole series: 😬

MATT R

so much better to talk about than this ,just saying ,but it's a freeworld

Eric

If you both aren't in love with this show after the next two seasons I'll be blown away. The first season is a good intro to an amazing series.

Kenneth Oms

Great episode! But when Dagan said he trusts Netflix more then he trusts anybody for live action adaptations my heart dropped. That death note and now cowboy bebop live action adaptation by Netflix was god awful

Matt P

Interesting to hear both of your fresh perspectives on this series. I feel like a lot of your questions will be answered in the other two seasons. Great episode

Donald Difford

This was very serendipitous for me. I'm Colin's age and missed this when it aired. Currently watching it for the first time with my 7 year old daughter and really enjoying it, a lot more than I thought I would. We're about done with season 2 and I think I'm into it more than she is, haha. Thanks fellas

Wesley

Listening to you guys talk about the show made me want to rewatch it immediately

Carlos Moreno

Although very good season 1 is objectively the worse season. It's filled with filler and meandering and i completely agree it can be shorter. However you'll find the following seasons to be wasting less and less time while increasing the stakes and tension.

NinjaDC

Really can't wait for you two to tackle the other 2 seasons. It only gets better from here as the world grows and characters develop with some fan favorites yet to be introduced. And this is coming from someone who missed the show on its original run, as I wasn't a Nickelodeon kid and didn't see it till high school.

Haydyn

Dropped the same week I got a Zuko/Blue Spirit tattoo!
